Hi all i have just got myself a Ty mono after looking for one for ages and its great.I had one about 17 year ago but cant remember how much engine oil goes in,off the top of my head 800ml seems to ring a bell or is it 600.And what oil is suitable as its had ATF in it.Also what 2 stroke is best, i run my GasGas on castrol tts the guy i bought it off said he was running rock oil fully synthetic 85ml to 5 ltrs.I will have loads of questions to ask in the future,but for now i am just going to ride it & enjoy.

Hi gwd,i had this problem a few years ago,so after trawling through all the forums came across one that suggested to use SILKOLEAN FST PRO FUEL ADDETIVE . this sorted the problem,so know in the winter months i add it to my fuel and no more carb icing.

Evening everyone,could anyone tell me if the rose bearing (joint) on the ohlins shock on an05 raga 300, is the same as the one on a normal shock for a Gas Gas. Thanks.

HI mate as per what Andy said just turn up there's no fee for watching.There's a trial on today at rogerlly quary & tomorro at butsfield near consett on the A68.there are quite a few people that take photos at the trials then upload them on to this site.hope this helps.

Same here used ATF in my 05 raga had to strip & clean clutch plates.I now use Motul 300v recomended by Al (the spanner)Winter,after he rebuilt my bottom end so if its good enough for him thats all i needed to know

Hi mate i had 05 280 a couple years ago which had metal filings stuck to the magnet which i thought was the kickstart gear but on closer inspection it was the needles out of a roller bearing from the gearbox.I dont want to dampen your spirits but whip the casing off & have a look to see if you can see any thing.Does the rear wheel turn freely when on a stand as mine was very hard to turn when i had my problem.Chances are it'l be your kickstart gear as the 300 are a B---CH to start if you dont have the knack.You should always kick from the top feeling for top dead centre.Hope this helps.

Hi guys, yes i have changed the rad cap & yesterday changed the 'o' rings.I thought it was the water finding its own level but after monitering it for a few weeks belived this was not the case so bought the new cap & 'o' rings.After fitting the cap a few weeks ago i thought i'd sorted it but it was still dripping on sunday so i fitted the 'o' rings yesterday but while testing it yesterday i noticed the fan was not running as it shuld. i will test it with a 12v battery to see if it runs smothley & without any voltage drop.i might try a regulator.Thanks for all your replys.

Hi everyone, my Gas Gas 300 raga 05 is leaking coolant from the over flow pipe,its been doing this for a while so i changed the rad cap. thought this had cured it until when out yesterday i noticed it was dripping from pipe again.so today changed 'o' rings in the head but while trying it today i noticed the fan was not running as it shuld. when its on the fan seems to be running ok then it has a drop in power then picks up again.any one had a similar problem and what was the cure. THANKS.

Hi eveybody,I've been giving my 05 Raga a bit of a service to day as i thought the rose bearing on the bottom of the shock was knackerd.But it turns out it's the bush on the top, does anyone know if you can buy these at a bearing specilists or they'r a dealer part. Thanks.

Hi tankygsy,i have a simaler problem on my 05 Raga when relising the clutch leaver the clutch slips for a few seconds then bites.This i find very iratating as when you want to do some big steps you cant as the slip prevents this from happining.I am going to pull the casing off again & try replacing the o rings in the top hat to see if this cures the problem,but i am running out of ideas.

Thanks for the reply tankygsy,the whole waterpump assembley was replaced when the mains were done last year so i would hope i would get a better life span out of the waterpump seals.It was just a thought that it was the o rings as it spits the water out of the over flow until it reaches its level & yes the fan is working ok.

Hi everybody how low should the coolant be in the rad, mine sits on top of the cores in the rad as you can see them through the water.I know when you fill it it looses abit & it finds its level.But after giving it a clean today i noticed the oil was cloudy i'm wondering if the o rings in the head are on there way out as i've just done the water pump last year when it had mains put in.It does drip water out when i top it up for a few minutes then once its found its level its fine but the water just seems abit low in the rad.Ithink it might be worth changing the o rings for peace of mind,is there a sequence they have to be loosend & tightend up. CHEERZ.

Hi waynerobshaw,I have an 05 Raga & I use Motul 300v 5/40 4T in my bike as advised by "Al the spanner winter"who used to work at white Bros darlington.He also uses this in his own bike so it must be good.It is green almost like a flurecent colour.hope this helps

Thanks Gary its doing his head in now. He had it down alans & thought it was sorted but try'd it yesterday and exactly the same problem.He was trying to get mr larkin number to see if it had this problem befor.Have you got colin's number please.

Thanks to everyone for your reply's i will pass on all the comments made.I suggested swapping parts but not many people riding them in our club now & we(his mates ride GG)so he'll have to do a bit grovling to some one at the trial. And once again many thanks.

Hi Guys & a happy new year to you all,Here goes i am posting this topic for my friend again as he is still having the same problems.The bike runs for approx 30mins then shuts its self down to tick over & half throttle.He has just had the bike to a well known bike mechanic & friend & had the following done. A new injector,fuel pump stripped & cleaned,tappets reset & plugged into computer to find the fault.But still has an issue.He's checked his manuel & it is saying check the TP VALVE but he does not know where to find it on the bike. Any one with any ideas it would be appreaciated. THANKS.

Hi everyone my mate asked if i would ask the question as he does'nt have the internet.We were at the trial today on second lap when his 4rt started to play up,it would tick over & run on low revs but when you tried to rev it hard it just bog'd down & would'nt rev.So we went back to van & put a new sparkplug in it sorted until we got half way round then the same happend again.Anybody had this problem & how did you rectify it.Cheers

Hi everyone just a question where are all the ty mono at. I have had a few over the years but know have a gas gas,I am thinking of buying a ty but i cant seem to find any for sale. Theres loads of twinshocks out there but a lack of the monos.Where are all these bikes at.

Alreet scotty,the next trial is on at Rogerley quarry near frosterly sunday 11 am start.Have yourself a look up and see how it all works.If your going to enter the trial in the future you'll need to join a club and get your ACU license.You say in your first blog you think the bikes are needing the clutches looking at.well if you cant sort them yourself have a word with Alan (Al The Spanner)Winter on the day.

Hi zaccboy i never rode the consett trial today,just had a walk round with the dog.There were a lot of new faces today so you wernt alone, your first trial can be daunting what with every one watching you,like Pistonbroke said dont be afraid to ask for a five if you think its a bit hard we all have to start somewhere. Just lots of practice & riding time but most of all enjoy it and have a laugh with your mates. am riding tomorro so might see you there.
