  1. Thanks, I'll give him a ring in the morning.
  2. Anyone know of a place to get a Paioli shock from a 2006 Rev 3 rebuilt in the US? Thanks in advance Joe
  3. A man had 50 yard line tickets for the Super Bowl. As he sat down, he noticed that the seat next to him was empty. He asked the man on the other side of the empty seat whether anyone was sitting there. "No," the man replied, "The seat is empty." "This is incredible," said the first man. "Who in their right mind would have a seat like this for the Super Bowl, the biggest sporting event in the world and not use it?" The second man replied, "Well, actually, the seat belongs to me. I was supposed to come with my wife, but she passed away. This will be the first Super bowl we haven't been together since we got married in 1967." "Oh, I'm sorry to hear that. That's terrible. But couldn't you find someone else -- a friend or relative, or even a neighbor to take the seat?" The man shook his head. "No, they're all at the funeral."
  4. Typically yes, Boyesen reeds nearly always make the bike richer across the range. Often you'll need to go one or two sizes leaner on the main jet, and perhaps one leaner on the pilot. However, it's often close enough after you lean the main that you can get the bottom in the ballpark with air-screw adjustments only. Curious though as to why you didn't find the bike "smooth" by that do you mean that you found the power to be abrupt at a certain point in the powerband? Asking 'cause I'm considering buying a new bike and a 250 Evo is on my short list.
  5. No, 'cause we'd have to remake all the flags and we're a little tight on funds right now
  6. HOW TO MAKE A WOMAN HAPPY: Wine her. Dine her. Call her. Hold her. Surprise her. Compliment her. Smile at her. Listen to her. Laugh with her. Cry with her. Romance her. Encourage her. Believe in her. Pray with her. Pray for her. Cuddle with her. Shop with her. Give her jewelry. Buy her flowers. Hold her hand. Write love letters to her. Respect her. HOW TO MAKE A MAN HAPPY: Show up naked. Bring chicken wings. Don't block the TV.
  7. A vacation love story. . . She grasped me firmly but gently just above my elbow and guided me into a room, her room. She quietly shut the door and we were alone. She approached me soundlessly, from behind, and spoke in a low, breathy voice close to my ear. "Just relax." Without warning, she reached down and I felt her soft well practiced hands start at my ankles, gently probing, moving upward along my calves slowly but steadily. My breath caught in my throat. I knew I should be afraid, but somehow I didn't care. Her touch was so experienced, so sure. When her hands moved up my thighs, I gave a slight shudder, and partly closed my eyes. My pulse was pounding. I felt her knowing fingers caress my abdomen, my ribcage. And then, as she wrapped her hands across my chest, I inhaled sharply. Probing, searching, knowing what she wanted, she brought his hands to my shoulders, slid them down my tingling spine and finally paused at my beltline, promising so much more. Although I knew nothing about this woman, I felt oddly trusting and expectant. This is a real woman, I thought. A woman used to taking charge. A woman not used to taking `no' for an answer. A woman who would tell me what she wanted. A woman who would look into my soul and say, "Okay sir, all done." My eyes snapped open and she was standing in front of me, smiling, holding out my belongings. "You can board your flight now."

I've owned mine for 3 years and it's been one of the best bikes I've ever owned. They are a terrific beginner/novice bike and the power is really spot on until you start doing the bigger obstacles that require more umph. Mine has been very reliable and I'd highly recommend the bike.
  9. Happy Thanksgiving........everyone have a great day!
  10. Just wanted to say I think this may be the best thread on any subject I've read in a long time On the cost of trophys.....The club I ride with gives out a very nice wooden plaque that you can put multiple placards on (the thing that's stuck to all your trophies that gives the date and event). They take up way less space on the shelf, the placards cost WAY less than trophies, and I've never heard anyone complain. The only folks that a trophy really matters to are the newbees and kids and most of us have enough trophies that if we each recycled a few they would last the club for years. On the volunteer front.....I think in many cases what's perceived as not wanting to pitch in is actually either apprehension about not wanting to screw up or simply someone waiting to be asked. Many clubs (whatever the sport) have a core group of folks who have known one another forever and feel comfortable working with one another. To them, this is the group that does things, to outsiders it can often appear to be a clique that doesn't want/need the help. In the end, I think that some of the most important things that clubs can do is understand who the membership is, what they can bring to the table, and to ask those folks for help.
  11. A kart club I was a member of had "interest sheets" at the events that newbees could fill out at with their contact information. In that way, they came away with names and e-mail addresses of folks they knew were interested in the sport so they could send things such as the club newsletters and invites to future events. With everyone having so many different choices on how to spend their time and money, it can be something as simple as a club actually wanting someone as a member that motivates them to give the sport a try.
  12. I agree with everyone else on the cost of equipment, however I think it's a problem that's common to a lot of the motorsport community. When times were good, just about every facet of racing participated in an "arms race" to technological levels we only dreamed of a decade ago. In trials, all of this advancement has made for some amazing bikes, however it's come with a BIG price tag both at the time of purchase and if manage to do something stupid and throw the bike off a cliff. Just like everyone else, I've shown my bike to newbees and they're really enthused right up to the point where I tell them how much one is and what the cost of oh say.....a fender gonna be. Then, I generally get the "I could by a new CR450 for that jump tall buildings in a single leap" speech, and they wander back to the Honda shop to go buy a new MX'r. I think to really be successful, the selling points for trials have to be the family aspects, the great people, and the relative safety of the sport. If we try to compete solely on the basis of "isn't this cool as the next X-games sport", we'll lose every time. Another issue that I've heard mentioned is the overall difficulty and danger level in some of our trials. I think this is actually a result of the improvements in equipment as much as anything, and from my experiance this scares away a significant number of potential new riders (especially parents of younger kids). While we all like seeing the best riders in our clubs doing spectacular obstacles, the newbees tend to focus solely on this part of the event. While I think its important to incorporate difficult steps and big ups into sections to keep the existing riders challenged, its my firm belief that it's equally important to keep the focus of club level trials on the technical difficulty of the basics and not just turning the sport into a slow version of Supercross.
  13. Thanks for the replys....My question was not related to a setup or change that you'd leave on the bike but rather just some changes that might make the techniques easier to learn. As to which end of the bike, actually both. I'm getting to where I can move the back a bit, but for whatever reason (ummmm dumbness I think ), I'm struggling with getting the motion down for moving the front. My goal was to change the bike for practice until I got the techniques down and then try and move the new skills to my normal section setup. Again, thanks for the help Joe
  14. A really good friend told me that calories are the little flockers that get into your wardrobe at night and sew your clothes tighter. I really want to know why my closet's infested with the damn things and what the hell I can spray to get rid of them!
  15. If you were going to set up a bike to maximize learning how to hop (section riding be damn*d), what would you do? My list: Rotate the bars foward The shock and fork adjusters turned all the way out Any other ideas?
  16. drama, drama, drama And now on to the bikes! I REALLY hope the fuel injection works out. As someone who rides trials from 1500' to 7000' I'm just about certain that I'd lower the worldwide cost of brass all by myself
  17. Most of the time a bike with a bad crank seal on the wet side will have a BUNCH of glop coming out the exhaust (it'll look really rich). If the oil's not milky, it sounds like it may have a bad head gasket. Check to see if the coolant level is low, if it smells like premix, and if you have pressure at the radiator neck with the bike cold, the radiator cap off, and the bike running.
  18. How to convince a wife that trials is a good idea: Step one. Leave lot's of motocross magazines around the house Step two. Suprise! her by taking her to a local motocross "just 'cause it looks fun" Step three. Work your way around to the biggest jump on the track and comment about how "cool that is" Step four. Make some subtle comments about how you could "do that jump with your eyes closed" Step five. Introduce her to the local sixteen year old pro and let him tell her how "gnarly the track is" Step six. Take her to a trials Step seven. Pick out your new trials bike (bet she helps you load it up)
  19. Here ya go: http://www.sherco.com/wayne/Rim%20Band%20Replacement%20Manual.pdf I have however seen the light, and become a giant fan of the one piece rims-strip/air-valve version. Yes it's more expensive, but I'll gladly mow my neighbors grass for the extra money
  20. We have these guys here in the US http://www.piperepair.com/ They do a great job, and to me ask a fair price for what they do (I've seen their work and it really is as good as they claim). You might want to email them and see if they either know of someone in the UK that does similar work or, perhaps the shipping wouldn't be as much as you'd think.
  21. The ever popular "plug the ends, add air, and heat up the dent" method http://motoman393.thumpertalk.com/tech/header.html Not sure I'd try the freezer method with a segmented header. On 2 stroke pipes it often splits the welds.
  22. I don't remember seeing a link to a direct fit part number but you might want to have a look at these two threads, one from here at trials central http://www.trialscentral.com/forums/topic/30498-rev-3-clutch-plate/page__p__236600__hl__clutch+plates__fromsearch__1#entry236600, and one from a forum here in the States called Thumpertalk http://www.thumpertalk.com/forum/archive/index.php/t-775961.html . From experiance in the past, many of the manufactures use common dimension clutch plates and I'd bet that one of the builders like EFM or Revloc would be able to work something up for you. Perhaps you could speak with them on the phone and then send them the dimensions (or maybe a spare plate) for them to cross-match. Joe
  23. Also check to make sure the vent lines out of the carb aren't pinched or blocked. This can cause the bike to go lean (like shutting off the petcock) and it'll feel just like a stuck throttle. And yes, I know this from experiance...................resulted in the highest/shortest jump over a berm ever done on an 02 KX250
  24. The pastor asked if anyone in the congregation would like to express praise for answered prayers. Suzie Smith stood and walked to the podium. She said, "I have something to praise. Two months ago, my husband, Tom, had a terrible trials riding wreck and his scrotum was completely crushed. The pain was excruciating and the doctors didn't know if they could help him." You could hear a muffled gasp from the men in the congregation as they imagined the pain that poor Tom must have experienced. "Tom was unable to hold me or the children," she went on, "and every move caused him terrible pain." We prayed as the doctors performed a delicate operation, and it turned out they were able to piece together the crushed remnants of Tom's scrotum and wrap wire around it to hold it in place." Again, the men in the congregation cringed and squirmed uncomfortably as they imagined the horrible surgery performed on Tom. "Now," she announced in a quivering voice, "thank the Lord, Tom is out of the hospital and the doctors say that with time, his scrotum should recover completely." All the men sighed with unified relief. The pastor rose and tentatively asked if anyone else had something to say. A man stood up and walked slowly to the podium. He said, "I'm Tom Smith." The entire congregation held its breath. "I just want to tell my wife the word is sternum."
  25. Another reason to love bike people.......................................... Johnstown, PA, USA - Local and state police scoured the hills outside rural Johnstown, Pennsylvania, after reports of three animal rights activists going missing after attempting to protest the wearing of leather at a large motorcycle gang rally this weekend. Two others, previously reported missing, were discovered by fast food workers "duct taped inside fast food restaurant dumpsters," according to police officials. "Something just went wrong,
