and i hear but not yet confirmed that our very own "Prince of Darkness" Vincent Price may have just done enough to possibly get the British Bike Clubman award good job i reminded him he had missed a section on the last lap on Sunday
Some excellent rides from the Expert twinshock boys all beating the Expert modern bikes. In fact if you combine the Expert British bikes and the Expert Twinshocks with the Expert moderns then the best Expert modern rider would have finished 4th. Not bad for as twinshockdude says "a load of old blokes on old bikes". I left the fat bit out cos were just cuddly
We got some darn good riders at Peak Classic. Be one of them at the next round at Carsons farm

I'm not having a dig here honest but why do people keep trying to fit tubless tyres on tubed rims?
I really dont understand especially as the problems have been discussed at length on here. Why not just fit a tubed tyre to a tubed rim and a tubeless tyre to a tubeless rim ?
Honestly not having a dig at you i just dont get it

Yes he is having some made just need to finalise the price. Will let you know.

Just a reminder for your diary that this Sunday 19th Peak Classic Trials Club in conjunction with Loughborough and District are holding round 8 of their club championship away from their usual stomping ground of the Peak District National Park and are playing away in darkest Leicestershire. So instead of the usual rocks mud and steep grassy banks will be the challenges on offer for the day. Also for a change modern bikes will be allowed to compete for this event only as Loughborough and District is a modern bike club however the trial will be as always run as a no stop event i.e. you cease forward motion you get a five. Simples
Last year when we held this event for the first time a lot of the modern competitors seem to have been confused by the concept but hopefully 12 months on they will be able to get their head around it. Last years event produced some surprise results as a lot of the Matlock "mafia" failed to make the pilgramage down south so we will have to wait till the day to see who makes the long haul down to Vickers farm Rileys railway Tilton on the Hill. With some of the categories in the Club Championship quite close there is an opportunity for some riders to close some gaps so should be a good day out.
The course setters have promised some long steep climbs and going by the weather forcast they may be slippery as well so chance to let the bike rip in second for a change. Also as it is a round of the East Midlands Centre ACU Classic Championship the sections will be laid out with that in mind. You have been warned Clubman route will be as usual severity, so i have been assured, as last time the ACU Championship Clubmen had to ride the 50/50 route. Best to double check with the organisers on the day or collar Roland Slack as he's the ACU man
As usual the PB Trialsport van will be in attendance for your spare parts though sadly the Burger van will no longer be attending as it has been sold. Donna would like to thank all her past customers for their patronage but sadly it was not financially viable so bring a flask and sandwich. Sorry chaps
Start will be at the usual time of 11.00 am classes for Pre 65, Twinshock (defined as per ACU Championship rules), Air Cooled pre 95 monoshocks (defined as per ACU Championship rules) and modern bikes and there is loads of parking so come along and enjoy the change of scenery.

You could always just change the springs ?

IMHO seems to be from what i hear from other parts of the country and from competing in the local area, albeit only in Pre65 and Twinshock, that the trials clubs that are known for putting on shall i say a more Clubman orientated event are getting reasonable to good entries whereas the clubs that focus on the expert trick riders are struggling.
As in everything the market will decide and those that dont give the customer what he wants will go to the wall.
Overall dont think Trials are any more popular than in the recent past but i do notice the entry seems to be getting older so at some point as people become unable due to age etc there will be a crunch moment if something doesnt change.
Demographic time bomb is a bit of an overused phrase nowadays but Trials definately has one.

I would have thought by definition to "compete" you must therefore be "competitive" otherwise it's just "practice". Just my humble opinion
Either way the reason for the post was to try to clarify the difference in rules between ACU and AMCA events. The AMCA do seem to be very lacking in policing whatever rules they have if any. That leads to people blatantly cheating to the detriment of other riders who follow the rules of competition. All competitions must have rules otherwise they will not be fair competition.
I am not saying you should not enter a competition if you dont care where you finish or if someone on a bike which does not comply with the rules beats you i just wanted to get some form of clarification of the difference between the way the two governing bodies administer LOL our sport.
It appears a lot of people never bother to enter competitions they just go out and practice. Practicing for what i'm not sure but as long as they do it legally and dont cause the rest of us more problems then thats ok by me.

Obviously totally agree with all the comments made but surely a portion of the blame must be apportioned to the people who buy stolen goods, bikes whatever.
-
Happy with my sprinter which replaced the nissan primastar. Then again after that experience anything would be an improvement
-
Sorry about the lack of spares van, me, and butty van, the mrs whose birthday treat the holiday was, but i'm glad the event went off ok.
Will be back with the spares at all the rest of the events but we've sold the butty van, well the mrs has, so wont be bringing the butty van to the rest of the events Donna wants me to thank all her past customers but it just wasnt worth the effort for the income. So i'm going to rope her into minding the parts sales instead
Cant wait to see the results and find out who won what

FWIW i wouldnt touch one with a bargepole. Got rid of mine as sick of all the electrical problems. Also know of other owners whove reported loads of electrical probs and gear selection problems.
-
appologies everybody. I was away on holiday in Devon. Hope everybody found it ok? Sorrry about the website not having a map reference. I will try and sort that out asap but i've only just got in and i'm too banjaxed at the moment. I hope the event went off ok?

As the heading says looks like we are not allowed to pass comment on ex works bikes on Trials Central anymore?
I think people were only trying to protect other Trials Central members.
Thought i would just make the point before this post gets deleted as the others were.
Free speach, within the boundaries of the law used to be allowed on here.
Then again it's not my site so what Andy decides is Andies perogative and i have to respect that and i do.
Perhaps we could have an outline of what we are and are not allowed to discuss?

Disc brakes on twinshocks Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
-
Just a personal point of view but i just feel that "modern" and "Classic" bikes just dont mix anymore and the only way is to do what has happened locally namely break away and form a Classic Club for Pre 65 and twinshocks only. That way you run the severity of sections that suit the riders and bikes that take part plus you can run to the rules, preferably non stop and ENFORCE it, you want.
Back on topic i also agree that mambers should have their say in how the club is run but surely there has to be a set of rules that apply to trials run in that area as otherwise you will end up having one bike for one club and another bike for the other club. Unless you are an uncompetitive person but if you are then why do you ride in trials ? Surely just go out and practice.
NOT knocking anybody just feel the AMCA should have SOME rules that apply to all affiliated clubs ?
-
I'm flabergasted Charlie. You thinking of buying a modern bike then ?
Cant make it to the show cos it's "She who must be obeyed's" birthday, 50th but dont tell anybody , so i've got to take her on holiday to somewhere were there isnt ant Trials bikes but i'm sure i'll miss a fantastic day out so best wishes for a glorious time warp event
