  1. Just a quickie. I cant remember the size and pitch of the bolt that secures the damper assy on a MAR. Anybody know as i've found a pair of forks in bits i had forgotten i had, having a sort out in the shed, and want to put them back together and use in one of the "projects". Cant find the thread pitch guage
  2. Had a Faber frame and all i can say is it was DEFINATELY built down to the price. Seen the Mills frames and they are the complete opposite. if i was building a B40 again i'd definately go for the Mills option. Took me ages to modify the Faber frame to make it acceptable. To me anyway
  3. Wear rate is the best too. Grips well even after 6 months wouldnt use anything else on the rear.
  4. Just shows those "old out dated heavy unsophisticated past it" etc etc etc air cooled monos werent that bad after all. Still one of the best value for money trials bikes around
  5. Pressures sound about right but why did you choose Pirelli ? terrible tyres for trials IMHO. Personally would always use Michelin front and IRC rear at the pressures you state. With Pirellis you could probably let all the air out and still get less grip than decent tyres at road pressures. Good luck.
  6. I think it's just the manufacturers covering their corporate bottoms as with everything else nowadays they need to cover themselves in case some dimwit trys to sue them for damage to his engine. Just checked the PJ1 oils that i sell and they state the same up to 50:1 caveat as well.
  7. The Carson family were on form at Round 9 of the Peak Classic Trials Clubs Club championship held at Carson
  8. Just wanted to clarify that i did not mean that the Puma etc bikes are "cheat" bikes far from it. I meant that any converted monoshocks to twinshocks are "cheat" bikes. I dont condone them and i agree they must be excluded but i also agree with others who have posted on here that disc brakes and hydraulic clutches etc are a no no too. In fact there was a competitor at our trial on sunday who rode a RL suzuki with discs and i have had to reclassify him as a guest and he has not scored any championship points. As for "now the acu / amca could do the same for twin shocks if they wanted and that would be a clear line in the sand.. frames as std, brakes as fitted to that machine, forks as fitted to that machine engines as fitted to that machine.. theres no end of if's but's or maybes clear simple rules that anyone can follow the acu is democratic mr wren contributes to these pages it can be done befors next season if enough people want it to.. how much do you want it is the question?" Reading the above would a Majesty be eligable? After all what does constitute a std frame? Would a Majesty with TY mono forks be elegable? What about Fantic 300 wheels in a 240? theyre drums after all. Do we now have to strip the steel liners out of Bultaco drums and have them chrome plated? do we all have to throw our Falcon, Betor, Magical shocks away ? Perhaps you would like to talk Dunlop into remanufacturing the Trials Universal too or god forbid we are made to fit Pirellis Sounds a barmy set of rules to me that you could drive a bus through. There thats covered most of it. Oh yes and i think the spanish have the right idea about nothing newer than the bike, read Javiers post to get the full idea, makes a lot of sense to me however they, the organisers over there, have the knowledge and the balls to enforce it where as over here as also mentioned earlier half of them dont know the difference and the other half dont care and nobody is going to scrutinise or exclude anybody cos they are all desperate for entries. Dont count on the ACU as they arent really interested and most dont ride or know bu66er all about Classic and Twinshock trials bikes. Big generalisation i know but pretty accurate IMHO
  9. Good luck on the diesel front. A friend of mine is ging to France this coming weekend so i've warned him to for a change fill his tank up this side of the channel instead of as soon as he gets off the ferry. Have a good trial and hopefully bring back some piccys especially of the "cheat bikes" as i am thinking of building one just in case i want to ride over there as though i dont agree with them the engineering interests me.
  10. Well all the sections are laid out, fingers crossed for a dry day, including the new white route for Expert twinshocks and Pre95 air cooled monos. Heres hoping for a good turnout tomorrow especially from the Pre 70 British Bike riders It'll be a better day out than Stafford show LOL. So come along and please bring an observer if you can as it would be great if we had all 10 sections manned Be back soon with the results. Now after 6 hours work i'm going for a or three.
  11. Just a reminder in case youve forgot. Peak Classic Trials Club are holding round 9 of their club championship at Carsons farm, Grangemill Nr Matlock. Start 11.00 and as usual there will be classes for Pre70 British Bikes, Twinshock and pre 95 air cooled monoshocks with Expert, 50/50 Internediate and Clubman routes in each class. Sorry no modern bikes. We will be trying out something new this time. I have noticed that regrettably of late the number of pre70 British Bike entries especially on the Expert and 50/50 Intermediate routes have declined. This may be due to a perception that our trials do not cater for the Pre70 British Bikes and riders so this round and for the rest of the season we will be slightly easing the route for Expert pre70 British Bike riders to hopefully encourage a few more entries as i would like to state categorically WE ARE NOT JUST A TWINSHOCK CLUB ! i want to encourage more pre70 British Bikes of any size especially the bigger bikes. So as not to deny the Expert Twinshock and Pre95 Air Cooled Monoshock rider a good challenge we will be introducing a white route on 50% of the lap just for them. So something for everybody and the PB Trialsports van will be there too for all those essentials. See you Sunday.
  12. The reminisences are all very interresting but getting back to the original post. Does anybody know what the AMCA are going to do about it? I can guarantee at the Trial i am laying out for Sunday if ANYBODY and i mean anybody pulls that kind of stunt they will be 1. excluded from the results. 2 excluded from all our future events. 3. immeadiately reported to the ACU, we are an ACU club. 4. their name and details will be circulated to every club in our centre. I cant force the ACU to do anything nor can i force other clubs to act and smother this kind of behaviour but while i am part of the organising body at our club anybody who abuses a fellow rider, official, spectator or anybody attending the event they will never be welcome again. Period. I will be watching for a black DMW but also any other offender.
  13. Might help if you told us what bike you are talking about ?
  14. Surprises me nobody has looked at moulding copies out of ABS plastic. then again what do i know
  15. Wont matter if it's anything like the Anglians he sold cos most of them needed stripping and sorting out before you could use them. Alegedly of course
  16. Plus you'd have to change the front wheel for a drum brake to be eligable to enter ACU events and that would require a fair bit of "engineering" work. Amases me how many people think TY250's are all Majestys, cant be just because Majestys are worth more than double a std TY 250 surely ?, and how many Trail bikes are sold as Trials bikes
  17. Nah cant be a Majesty. Doesnt say Majesty on the tank. Obvious innit Thought i was right
  18. Dont think in these PC times we should be advocating smoking by top sportsmen and women
