Dont forget your ball ended levers, throttle must not have a friction device and dont also forget the non original engine kill switch
-
Actually think it's a lot different because if this is ok where do you draw the line?
Once a mono always a mono.
As for mono engines in "twinshock" frames. Dont agree with that either Nigel but modified mono frames to me are the thin edge of the wedge and should never be allowed.

See there's another "Majesty" on ebay.
ref 190455109718
Now i am not the authority on Majestys but it looks just a std TY with a Majesty tank and repositioned shock top mounts to me.
Plus would be a problem where to ride it as not eligable for ACU events due to the front disc.
So Majesty officionados is it a Majesty or just Mutton dressed as Lamb

Probably a case of if youre a big enough name you can do what you like. A bit like the Pre65 scottish. Then again i dont know what the Spanish rule book states so for all i know the Spanish may allow and encourage blatant "cheats"
LOL Nah surely not

I suppose another alternative which i have used succesfully in the past is a product that is sold over here called Lumiweld. Basically a low melting temp alloy rod. You heat up the alloy casing after cleaning with a stainless steel wire brush and melt the alloy rod into the dent or crack and let cool. You can then machine or file as alloy and repair is permanent and almost indistinguishable. Have to be careful abot heat temp but on a large casing which has good heat soak it's fairly easy. Worth a consideration

Well being a Classic trial that does surprise and depress me. The main reason i only take part in Classic events is up to now i have always found the people to be much friendlier and sporting neither of which would apply to this lowlife.
I suppose the best we can hope for is that the observer concerned and all other observers remember that in all walks of life there will be scroats and scum. Sadly they are filtering their way into our sport. I just hope it doesnt put observers off coming because we need them far more than we need idiots like the offender in question. It takes ages to cultivate an observer corps and 1 prat can destroy that in seconds.
I would definately have at least circulated his name to all local clubs in the same way that yobs have their details and photos circulated to our local pubs and shops. At least if he is stopped from riding at events he cant verbally abuse, or maybe worse next time?, officials riders or spectators.
He should crawl back into the gutter from whence he came.
-
Simple both he and his "friend" should have their licence widthdrawn by both the ACU and the AMCA.
Garbage like that are not wanted and have no place in our sport.
No doubt he will be on this or another forum bleating his innocence and right to "free speach".
I wonder how many times him or his cheating mate have ever observed or helped out.
I assume it was a modern trial ? somehow it would have been even worse if it had happened at a Classic event which like me i know you are a regular attender of.
Did happen once at a Peak Classic event, though much much much less severe offence, recently. As trials sec i wanted to exclude the offender but i was overridden by the club sec who let the person off with a 5.
Me i'd have banned him period.

As cases go i wish i could find most as good as yours. As for casting well i tried with OSSA cases but i would have had to have 200 made to make it financially viable and lets face it trials riders are the last people on earth to part with their money so that was a financial black hole also and i have made too many of those recently.
Your best bet is to get yours welded and ride the bike.
Moto crossers and racers will part with their cash but Trials riders would sooner bung up the hole with blu tack than part with cash so if you had some recast you would be definately out of pocket.
Have you tried some of the Spanish suppliers? Expensive but cheaper than getting them remanufactured
-
Better folding footpegs that a perforated leg either way an "original" Francis Barnett will really struggle to get round in even a "Classic" trial so if you are really that obsessed with "originality" which the bike wont be anyway then just keep the rigid footrests and show it.
-
Wow
How come i'm never that lucky
-
Hi Charlie
Wish i could get some more as sold out of sizes 10 and 11. Great boot great price but only 7,8 & 12 left
-
You must be some kind of masochist if you do buy it LOL but let us know if you do. Could make for a long and interesting drama and theres nowt on the telly

Yes it's full of relevant riding tips and techniques plus how to set the bike up and lots of footage of local wobblers to illustrate common faults then footage of Mick to illustrate how it should be done and all on Pre65 and Twinshock machines. A lot of other DVD Videos etc are more modern bike orientated and those techniques have little or no relevance to twinshocks.
Just make sure you get the 2010 version. the old one is good but the new one is better. Sammy Miller Products do copies, although not shown on their website i think they are trying to sell the last few copies of the old one first, or if not if you pm me i could find out postage costs and send you one.
Good luck with your riding

Glad you enjoyed it. Some of Mick's stories about his life and times especially his factory days are sooooooo interesting and sometimes have me in stitches. He is still one of the most genuine people i know and always has time to try to help anybody with a passion for Trials. Really peeves me when people see him as an easy target, as of late.
Everybody who attended the last Trials Training day with Dales Classic said what a wonderful day out it was and how helpful with their riding and machine set up Mick had been.
Perhaps the best advice we can give anybody starting out like scooterspal is to try to get to one of his Trials Training Days
-
Very true i've never had a carb yet that didnt need rejetting to get the bike running "right". every bike is slightly different as are every riders preferences plus theres altitude and weather to take into consideration but at least thats a good place to start.
Always worth bearing in mind when selecting a new carb what the cost and availability of spare jets is as they can cost more than a new carb if you dont have some already or know somebody who has

"Mick Andrews How to Ride Classic and Twinshock Trials 2010" is even better and relevant to a TLR200
-
Wow what a great day with the Master
Those that were there know how good it was
Those that were not you have only yourselves to blame
-
think all the TY range 80, 125, 175 and 250 came out of the factory with oil pumps and tanks but that was the first thing to be removed by a trials rider
-
Let me know if you find some. All i can get are white.
-
Just to remind anybody who was thinking of coming to the Mick Andrews Training Day at Burycliffe Quarry this Saturday 02/10/2010 that places are limited and dissapearing fast. The event is organised under the auspices of the Dales Classic MCC www.dalesclassic.wordpress.com and that if you wish to take part then it is

Will do
Talking to Mick today he reminded me that the frames must be refered to as MATY frames, in reality based on the original Majesty frames but developed and brought up to date taking into account the development that has happened since Mick developed the original Majesty, not Majesty frames. Cant call them Majesty because someone might spit the dummy. Then again the MA in majesty did refer to Mick Andrews and the TY to the TY Yamaha after all

It's worth whatever somebody is willing to pay that really really wants it. Probably somewhere between

I too for my sins, i also have lots , have the unenviable job of some times laying out sections for my club, Peak Classic, and we have now come to the point where we will have to look at introducing "something" along the extra route course.
To explain we are a "Classic" club and have classes for Pre65, Twinshock and pre 95 air cooled mono all subdivided into Expert, 50/50 and Clubman. we are now getting problems attracting Pre65 riders especially on the Expert and 50/50 route. I believe it is because we have aquired the reputation of putting on trials which are too hard, they are a twinshock club, they are bike breaker trials impossible for pre65 etc etc etc. All accusations that i feel are unsubstantiated but it's not always what is factual but more about peoples perceptions well thats what life has taught me. Nothing could be further from the truth as i am desperately trying to attract more pre 65 entrants in all classes so we now find we will have to take action or the pre65 classes will have to be amalgamated due to lack of interest.
So we have been looking at a few options as follows.
1 Make the hard route easier but introduce two extra hard sections for Expert twinshocks and air cooled monos only. Problem is we struggle for enough observers as it is plus when i tried it i got a couple of complaints from pre65 competitors that they felt second class citizens not riding the full course.
2 Introduce a third route for Expert twinshocks and air cooled monos only. Problem is it gets confusing for the competitors and observers and the section becomes a sea of flags plus it gets increasingly difficult to plot the sections in the confines of land available.
3 Make all routes easier which pleases the lesser lights but results in, as one local club has found out, a large number of riders all on clean then how do you decide a winner? plus you then loose the better riders as they are bored and the club suffers financially from the shortfall.
4 Give up and abandon some classes routes and or combine them. Problem is the better riders get bored having to ride down and the lesser lights dont move up a class as they dont see the point of always finishing last or cant cope with the added severity of the higher route so the dont come and the club suffers financially from the shortfall.
We are already having to seriously consider raising the entry fees to

Nice innit and cheaper and with more modern geometry. You made the right choice
