As title really ? How much to have a set of yolks Anodized Gold ? And where is the best place to get them done ?
-
You won't find any oil filters because there is non, just a small mesh thimble under the oil drain screw.
There is a centrifugal oil rotor, but they don't need cleaning out often.
-
I was thinking that well I have got my TLR forks apart I might as well try to improve them ,is there anything I can do though? I'm a big lad which doesn't help.
Would fork springs out of any other bikes help ? (stiffer springs?) (the forks are too soft).
Hardly any oil came out, is this normal ? And there was certainly no air in them.
Would a higher weight oil make them any better ?

They are fine on beginner route, but if you want to be competitive in twinshock class (which is middle route) then you will be for ever wishing you bought a 200, or like me even when I have a 200 I still wish I had a 250.
I bought a TL125, kept it for just over 7 months, got bored with the total lack of power, so I sold it and bought a TLR200.

How about K&N filters uk ...... www.knfilters.co.uk .....
-
I would say go for a Honda TLR200, there relatively cheap, built like a tank and are good enough to be competitive, even on the intermediate route.

Hiya sutty, I have started stripping the TLR down, again , today, I'm going to sort the paint out and then get white mudguards, Once it's all looking good then I will pop down to my mates to try his carb.
All going to plan My dad will be riding it at the LLDMCC road trial, if he scratches it I'm going to kill him.... ... Or maybe put that nackerd old 290 Sherco of his out of it's misery ... I'm sure there is a big cliff round here somewhere ...

As some of you may know My 1956 Ariel was featured in this months Classic Bike Guide Magazine, I have scanned it in in case any one wants to see?
Here is the link
Many thanks, Jamie.

They are fine, they are floating disk brakes.
-
They sound like 200 forks, as the 250 ones are bigger, and my 200 ones are 35mm showa's.
PS: Could you ask the seller if he has a set of yolks that he wants to sell? (I need some for my sherco fork conversion)
-
Thanks.
I have just been cleaning it for 5 mins and It seems a few of the bolts around the engine are going slightly rusty, So I will be replacing these with stainless steel ones ASAP.
Eventually all the bolts will be replaced with SS, but they are quite expensive, so will do them one by one as and when I get some money.
I am also going to buy new (chrome) bars as they are the wrong ones on it atm, (they are renthal trials bars without the brace) , and I have a new rear (road going) tyre to fit at some point.
Also need a new rear sprocket , as the one on it now is a 54 tooth, It should be fitted with a 47 tooth, which is why it only goes 45 mph instead of the 65 mph it should do.

I managed to take some New pictures of the Ariel well the sun was out today, here they are, hope you like them.
I will be getting new fork shrouds (the rusty bit) once I get my money for the Ariel being in Classic Bike guide this month.
Will also get some chrome tank badge surrounds and a few other bits an bobs

The sherco forks are bigger, not sure by how much yet, but there bigger by at least 2mm , If I got a set of seccond hand TLR yolks , and machined them out to the correct size in college would this work ?
-
I would LOVE to fit the whole front end off my 125 sherco thats lying about, they are different size stanchions to the TLR though, but am I right in thinking that if I can get the bearing races out of the sherco frame and press them in to the TLR frame, then use all the sherco bearing and yolks it will work ?
If not how could I do it ?

Right, having just found out my dad is getting a montesa twinshock I want to make my bike as good as it can be, I want to prove to him that I am still better than he will ever be on the old twinshocks.....
Don't say learn to ride the thing, check out my sig.
So, I have Renthal bars ect, and wide foot rests , but what else will improve my TLR?
Would like to sort the forks, as there, well,... c**p... they don't rebound very well, don't think there is any oil in them to be honest. , and there is certainly no Air in them ..:S
But they also bottom out to easily off big steps ect. ( I ride middle route)
Also whats this I have heard about cutting the frame and making the steering angle sharper ? Worth doing ?
What other tricks improve the bike ?
One thing that is GREAT are the brakes, they have "I" shaped cams, not the original TLR "D" shaped ones..... but don't tell any one.....
Cheers, Jamie.

*Digs out two old pictures* of my Dad and a few other people that he will be able to name later, think one is Russ Faulks. My dad, David stokes, is the one holding the cup but not sitting on a bike.

I use 9-44 , used to use 13-44 and seccond was un-usable and first would stall most of the time ! I can now use 1st 2nd and 3rd in the sections.
