  1. Dibs staying at Beta. Contract wise : maybe it was beneficial to both parties Shame as the Ossa seems almost there and 2012 could have been good. Either Fajardo not happy or Ossa not happy. Who, if anyone will ride Ossa?
  2. Great news for Beta but where does that leave Ossa?? Good team for Beta : Fajardo and Dibs
  3. I have the white S3 rim kit on my Gas Gas and I love the look. Most people that have commented say they like it too. I've seen black on a 4RT, red on a Beta and green on an Ossa and all look good in my eyes. Fitting and durability wise: Fitting - is tricky(ish) and takes a fair bit of time, patience and a heatgun. These stickers are very thick and strong so need to be heated get correct shape etc of the rim. Luckily they are good, strong and sticky enough for you to be able to remove a section and reseal in case of an error when fitting. I would guess that they maybe took me an hour to do in total and IMO are well worth the effort Durability - as mentioned above they are very stong and very sticky so from that side will be very durable. I have had no issues so far with rocks or washing even starting to damage or remove the stickers so I'd give the 10/10 I can't see why people are knocking
  4. Harsh reply to a generalist question!!
  5. I'd say Marzocchi after having both Gas Gas (Marzocchi) and Beta (Paioli) however a large chunk of the differences will be down to the bike and geometry etc I suspect.
  6. I think its best for everyone to keep the elite 10 or so seperate. If you include Morton, Wigg, Challoner and Lampkin you have 10 competing in the best of the best class. Theres no point more entering the championship class as they'd be so far off the pace its not even worth considering. Where they (ACU and organising clubs) should be focussing is on the Expert A and Expert B classes. I would say that ideally you would want 20-25 in each class, thus giving you 50-60 riders per event + youths. While I think money and associated costs will be a conntributing factor I would expect that a lot of it is due to the severity of the Expert A and Expert B classes at these events. If you look at yesterdays results the Expert A winning score was 52 with 2nd place dropping 50% more marks again on 76..... And James Fry is no average rider in my mind. To my mind the organising club should look to get the winner dropping 20-25 marks, this would encourage (hopefully) a lot more Expert B riders to have a go in the Expert A class, thus enabling the organisers to ease the Expert B route to a level where they would encourage decent club riders to have a crack. I think I for one would possibly look at doing some Expert B events knowing I'd maybe drop 70-90 marks, but looking at yesterdays results I'd be nearer 170-190 marks. The Elite need to be pushed, or they simply wont ride BTC events, but as a result this locks of 90% of the other riders. Is there a reason or ruling saying that they need to be laid out ultra hard??
  7. So is Dabill riding in Japan?? According to the preview on the front page he is riding! So is Cabestany (someone earlier on in this thread said he wasn't) according to the preview. Anyone know who is / isn't riding? Ta
  8. Perfect, that's what I figured would be the answer but thought I'd gauge other peoples views/experiences. I'd always be with him on foot or on MTB but as practice goes that sounds ideal as he can in theory ride a bit every day. Now how do I convert the Raga to electric so I can go anywhere, anytime?
  9. Cheers guys. Wasn't for a minute thinking of riding on private land without permission. Was thinking more about going to the park, shop etc etc. Local kids fly around on electric scooters without problem so guessing/hoping an Oset is the same. Plus, as mentioned got practice ground in MK, whack bike in boot and go whenever. Any idea on cost price on a 12.5?
  10. Hi, my little boy is desperate to get on a trials bike and the Oset 12.5 sounds like the bike for him. He is 3'2" (38 inches) on the Oset site it says up to 46 inches so he'll be good for a while before hitting the max height on it but is there a minimum height and is he tall enough for one? Also, as an electric bike, does this mean that he can literally ride it anywhere (with me present) without me getting hassled?? Most of the time I would look to use the new ground in Milton Keynes but am thinking if we want to pop out for half an hour can we do so?? Thanks

    some advice needed

Best bet is some of the site sponsors on the TC website. They will be able to get all the bits yuo need. Failing that try GG UK 01298 766813
  12. quote name='Canada315' timestamp='1311004941' post='275756'] Thats Me! Moved to Canada 13 years ago and never looked back. Recently got back into trials after a more than 20 year layoff. Mind still says "go for it".....body says "are you crazy".....but still loving it. There is an active Ontario trials scene, details at www.trialsontario.ca - I think Borus (in this forum) can provide you with additional details, I think he also has a practice ground in the GTA (greater Toronto area) which is very close to where I live, although I have not been there yet (but hope to soon!) Immigration process was a 3 year odyssey for me, although it was the absolute best move I ever made, and more than worth the red tape that you invariably have to go through. Good luck! Wow! That's EVERYTHING I wanted to hear 1: there is a good scene in / around Ontario - is this the same for mountain bikes?? 2: there is practice venues and websites 3: despite the seemingly (probably) endless amount of paperwork and red tape it was all worthwhile. Also sounds like my plan for 5 years is about right then..... Thats seems the only downside (thus far!) Borus - in answer to your question, not entirely sure. My company (Hewlett Packard) has it's Canadian HQ in Mississauga, Ontario - where this is, I have no idea Am guessing, and this shows how early we are in the process, that Ontario is vast! Thanks for the feedback so far guys, appreciate it Nick
  13. Hi, Am looking at emmigrating to Canada in the next few years and was wondering what the trials secne is like in/around Ontario? Any friendly Canadias able to assist? If there are any ex UK residents now living in Canada and riding trials would love to hear from you and ask for advise re: immigration process. Thanks
  14. But by signing another rider, what would Beta get? Nothing! Expense and that's it. No wins, no podiums, no new money coming to the team, nothing. Doug would still be their best rider as anyone who 'may' sign wouldn't finish higher than 6th and I suspect Doug is still a big draw and big name for them.

    Finding Out The Year

I'd say best bet is to get frame number and ring John Lampkin. As you'll have gathered it's very easy to swap plastics and decals to make a bike look newer than it is. Lampkins will have the chassis details etc and can verify. Think as per below it's an 05 model but only based on plastics and stickers. I'd check under that sticker on the frame for a dent as well. Good luck

    New Ossa

Think the bike looks mega and really hope Ossa do well. You'd better start saving though... Based on the Australian price these will be approximately

    New Ossa Sr 280 R

Phewww thats a relief especially if the prices I've being discussed are right. I didn't even notice the forks on the YouTube vids I still cant see USD's working as well on trials bikes - they tried and failed in the late 80's / early 90's then went conventional again. From my experience they seemed less stable and to flexy (is flexy a word?!?) than normal forks. Am sure Ossa have got them better than they were 20 years ago but if they were that good everyone would use them surely...

  20. Looks like Jeroni Fajardo had the new Beta out in the final Spanish championship round. Only 1 pic of him on todotrial and he was 5th place (joing 4th with Freixa but lost out on cleans) but 3rd overall in championship. Pity there were not more pics of it in action Does this mean Doug & Co will have / already have theirs??
  21. Yea true but not really a fair comparison is it?? Doug at end of career now with no more wins in him. Raga and Bou still have probably 6 and 10 years respectively left in them and one of them (I think) will surpass Doug's total round & championship wins. Never thought anyone would top Jordi Tarres and no one has... However I think that it could happen especially with Bou. Doug was and still is an awesome rider and he should def do one more year in WTC, however you should always try and leave as near the top as possible - I think when Tarres quit he was 5th in the world and had not won the the WTC for 2 years - I think it would be a shame for someone of Doug's standing to carry on for a couple more years and drop too far down the rankings.

    2009 Bikes

The Japanese riders at the TDN had this silencer, not sure if this is a factory mod or an aftermarket special part though. Am liking the look of the 09 2T and 4T though, think they should sell if pricing good
  23. Anyone know if Fajardo or Doug riding one at the Spanish round? Or will they be riding them this weekend?
  24. Just ask the question. Maybe offer to pay him a small amount every time you ride as a gesture and reassure the owner that you will not promote the land and will always ensure the gate is closed and locked. If he is unsure, invite him to come and watch a local event or better still see if he will let you take your bike over there so he can see what you do and hear the bike. My view is that generally if the land is not used for anything else and you can show that you are not tearing it up and will pay to use it then most land owners would let you in. If he still says no, then sadly no it is.....
