Being that the helicoul is like a spring, it has threads on the outside as well as on the inside. That's what the tap is for--so the 'spring' will thread in to the hole.
The driver comes with each kit.
If you go mail-order, there's a new kind of kit that I got by mistake. It has several different length coils and comes in a big plastic box that takes up a lot of space. Not worth the extra $$ IMO.
Helicoils are hard spring steel and I have never known one to get knackered. If one does, it could be grabbed with needle-nose pliers and yanked out. Then you would just be able to screw another in.
Beta boy...Helicoils work best in blind holes. If you use one where the hole is open, make sure you clip the coil so it doesn't protrude through the back. This will prevent it from coming out with the bolt.
If that doesn't work, try some loctite.

I'm not super familiar with these modern ignitions, but thr "R" in the sparkplug code means there is a resistor in the plug, and your ignition may depend on that in order to work properly.
Be sure before you change.
There is a chance you could do damage.

If this post is bull$h*t, it's really irresponsible, and has no place on this board.
John...back it up or shove off.

I wish I could say that the US has enough buyers to make the continued manufacture of 2-strokes financially viable for the factories.
Somehow I doubt it.
-
It would help to know where you are.
This forum is read in South America, China, Africa, all over the United States and in parts of Alabama.

Excellent idea, IMO.
I have been trying to convince the few trials dealers I have known to do this for some time.
I'm sure the MX track owners would be amenable, and they often have heavy equipment and may be willing to help set up a demo area.
I think it's important for people to see real people ride trials, not just guys who hop from rock to tree like a squirrel.
To be able to say, "Here's a guy who had some MX experience, but has been riding trials for 4 years, and look at the cool stuff he can do."
AND....I got it SEVERAL times this weekend: "Can you even get one with a seat?"
-
I have found my new wallpaper!
-
Don't be a-scared....take some good photos and measurements and try it yourself.
It's not too hard, and you'll have more fun riding when you're done.
The swingarm and forks make fine truing stands.

I use a "Helmet laws suck" sticker.

I can't believe I still can't figure out how to post a flippin' picture
-
You probably don't need a diagram unless you're re-wiring.
Just make sure all the connections are clean and tight.
I put dielectric grease on everything.
Take off the ignition cover and check for moisture.
Try disconnecting the kill button.

Shorty levers, you say?
I made this for my son so I could set the lever close enough for his small hand, but he can now pull it right to the grip and get full clutch disengagement.
Works great, and I doubt it will ever break.
I'm using a pair on my bike...got tired of breaking levers!

Check Stoodley's article on suspension setup on the GG website.
He's the man.
-
Although....I think that's a long lever.
You might want a "shorty".
They stay farther from the end of the bars and are less prone to breakage.
-
Look closely at the cover of your master cylinders, and even on your old levers.
They will say AJP.
That should be the right lever.

Maybe most people just wouldn't buy a motorcycle (or a car!) without a seat.
-
-
Thanks for all the help!
Got my eye on a '76 Rathmell Replica.
I must be really shallow, but....dang, I hate that seat.
Same style as the 200 I worked on. It caught my eye every time I walked into the shop.
I might just have to hold out for a Sherpa T.

I would stay away from mineral spirits because it's hell on rubber (seals).
I'd try some good old gasoline (petrol), but not so much that it will be up to the seals, and let it sit and see if things soften up.
That is, of course, a total stab in the dark, as I've never dealt with this problem.
Maybe you should mix up some of your anti-freeze and oil in a separate container and see what softens it back up.

how does the MAR stack up to the period competition?
-
43 in a few weeks.
But I'm 19 from the neck up!

Don't get mad, Max.
It sounds like you've never had to support a family and a hobby on a cigarette-money, schoolteacher's salary.
And I would never 'bad mouyh' anybody for saving a few bucks.
Besides...my fork guards will look trick as hell!
I'll post some pics.
You'll be begging me for a pair!!!!!
I guarantee they'll look even better than the Hot Wheels track I used to zip-tie to the front of the fork legs on my MXer in the '70's.
