  1. Yep..its good to be able to change the soles..but you MAY need a very cheerfull cobbler The one who did mine said that taking the SIDI soles OFF was the hardest job he'd ever done...he couldnt believe how strongly they were connected!! putting the new Gaerne soles on after that though was easy enough
  2. Never had any problems with mine Marky..but I guess that doesnt really help you/answer your question. I suppose on the plus side...even if you do have a problem...its probably the only one you'll have with a Beta
  3. Very good advice about the bike telecat!!!..dont get sucked into a mines better than yours debate jpw. As telecat says just try some and chose the one you feel best with. Welcome to the world of trials!
  4. SIDI...mostly because they are the cheapest here in Hong Kong, but also 'cause they seem to last for ever. I've still got a pair that I've worn at least twice a week for trials and sometimes a couple of times a week on my road bike for over 2 years!! I have just re-soled them though with a pair of replacement Gaerne soles. They leek like buggery though...but I reckon every pair does? see ya
  5. Thanks Andy...there's not much escapes us on here, thanks to TC!!
  6. Would be nice to know!...surely someone has the low-down. Wasnt he supposed to be having tests on it this week in UK?
  7. Hey...welcome MicT...'bout time you started posting on here. You'll get some great info on here Michael..so you'll be glad you signed up,,,enjoy...(mind you..you might get the occasional sarcastic reply from me!!!)
  8. Please show us a pic of yours when you finish it!
  9. looks like I've got a beer belly!
  10. No...cant be me..I think you're confusing me with someone else. I never fall off
  11. Hopefully, if this works..here is a pic of it, not a great pic but nevermind
  12. The 280 IS a beast..my dad has one..I'll try to find a piccy to post. Same colours as yours BA
  13. Hi Rob, To be honest,..I always forget to do a search too!..but ONE day, I might remember........hope your gasket stays put!
  14. Sorry I dont have the Gubian replica...but 900 quid plus your bike, to go from an 01 to an 05 anything sounds like a good deal to me. I would take it before the dealer changes his mind. Sounds to me, like some of the 125 owners on here are very happy with them...sure they will respond to your post soon.
  15. Aaaarrrrrggggghhhhhh....bloody hell...........aaarrrrggghhhhh......aaaarrrrggghhhhhh....OH MAN!!!!!!!!!!...why didnt I think of that. I must have lost pounds in sweat..did it outside in about 33 degrees last time, swore lots, and spent millions in therapy to get over the trauma. Oh man........I am SUCH a doughnut. Apologies to everyone, about my stupid post... Tordi...when I next do the rear bearings I will always remember you!! You are my hero..I just wish I'd thought of it myself. DOH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Many many thanks
  16. Seems like, even last time, a few people suggested pressure in the gearbox..so check those breather pipes are clear. ALSO..as I said in the last chat on this, I THINK the paper gasket is better..(just my own VERY humble opinion)..the one with the blue bit in it, just would not work for me. I only used tiny dabs of silicon here and there to hold it in place, and it has worked...but if I ever do it again, I will probably be more generous with the silicon, like these guys have suggested. Its not a job I wanna do TOO often!... anyway...just try again..good luck
  17. I was thinking of suggesting that too JTT..but to be honest, theres something rather nice about girls doing MX too!!...anyway..whatever, hope she makes a full and speedy recovery BA
  18. Not a very scientific answer, but in case it helps...when I go out riding with my pal on his 4RT, I always run out of fuel before him..(my bike is a Beta Rev3 270)...mind you, I think mine is guzzling more than some other Betas out there.
  19. And hopefully THIS pic, will help you to see how the spacer connects/fits with the bearingS!!!
  20. Hopefully, on this pic, you can see where the spacer, has a step in it, which fits snugly up into/against the bearing........THIS is why its so difficult to get BEHIND the bearing to tap it out.
  21. If you do a search on here or the Mechanical bit, you'll probably find this has been done before...BUT..a bit of info for you. Unlike most road bikes (except Ducati I believe)..the spacer between the two wheel bearings (on the rear wheel this is...NOT the front)...does not have any play in it. Meaning it is tight up against the bearings, so it is very difficult to get BEHIND the bearings with a punch, to knock them out. The first time I did mine, I ended up destroying one bearing..(cutting etc.) untill it came out, and then obviously you can get behind the other one to knock it out. SOmeone last time suggested that whilst you do it, cut a little channel/gap/V, in the spacer, so that the next time, you do it, you CAN get behind the bearing. Sorry if this is confusing...other than the above, its the same as any other wheel bearing change. I'll see if I've got any pics to help explain myself. Good luck

    Forkseals

I always use 10W fork oil (find it in most bike shops)..the job is pretty easy..but if its your first time, maybe ask a mate to give a hand?? Probably the hardest bit is seating the new fork seals...for this I always use a long piece of plastic tubing that goes over the fork slider, and sits on top of the new seal..then gently tap into place. Its one way of making sure the new seal gets struck, "square" making it sit in properly. Good luck
  23. Thanks Jools... will keep an eye on the MX shops then!
