sorry..I know I shouldnt laugh at someone elses misfortune....but...that was a bloody funny story AS iow
Needless to say..I dont think I'll try fitting a DUnlop.
Thanks for brightening up my day!!
-
NOw..sorry for going off topic (a little)..but my mum, (who lives in the Midlands) always used to talk of going UP to London?????????????
SO...it doesnt seem so stange to me, when Lew says about going DOWN to Scotland!!!.
I always assumed it was just that my mum must be a nutter
So..whats your excuse Lew-GasGas????????
-
No worries.
If your Aprilia is as noisy as my dads one then it certainly WILL upset the neighbours.
Still..they've got plenty of grunt, to get you away in a hurry if they start throwing things at you
-
Hi Roy,.
I think my dad has always used 70:1 on his Aprilia without any problems...but if you want a more reliable answer, you should contact the guy I was talking about, (about 3 posts above this one)...and craftypiggy posted his address etc. He is a VERY good source of info for the Rotax engines
-
Thanks all...will be keeping my eye open fo one.
cheers
-
the NON turbo ones seem alot cheaper....are they REALLY a problem..(slow/etc)
I'm sure it would be OK for me...pleased you're happy with yours Greg...d'ya wanna sell it?
-
A tenner for 30 mins. is pretty bloody good eh!
Try it yourself next time though Craftypiggy...it aint that hard...and IF you havie a problem due to what I said in the earlier post, you can resort to just destroying one of the bearings in the back wheel, to get it out...and then obviously the sleeve will come out, enabling you to get behind the other bearing.

Yeah but, istnt it that AFTER midday, those that try to play the tricks are actually the fool themselves?
-
No I've not done it..but are you sure its worth it?..I reckon the 250 is nicer...but dont listen to me 'cause Im only a wobbler.
Would be interested to hear of anyone that has done it though?.....come on guys..someone must have tried it
-
DO a search on Beta...I think we've done this before.
Back wheel on the Rev3 is a bit tricky becuase the sleeve inside the hub sits tight up against both bearings, so its VERY difficult to get a punch onto the inside of the bearing to knock it out.
One good tip someone mentioned last time, is for the NEXT time you do it, cut a little groove in the sleeve, so that in future it is easier to get the punch behind the bearing.
As you probably know on alot of road bikes the said sleeve is not in there very tight, so you can generally get a bit of play in it, enabling you to get behind the bearing. Unfortunately its not like that on Betas..OR Ducati road bikes apparently!
Good luck!.........(front wheel is easy!!)
-
Thanks big john...sounds like its a cracking van for trials.
I guess most of the cheaper ones I've seen for sale are not turbo ones...but I'll certainly be keeping my eye out for one.
Cheers again
-
Oooh...lets hope so...i for one, would love to see Beta staying 2 stroke!
-
well..not that I dont believe any of you guys...just that I dont know WHO to believe on all this.
HAS the FIM really insisted everyone in WOrld Trials should be on 4 stroke next year??....(I thought it was still not definate)
And....IS 2 stroke engine manufacture gonna finish in 2007??....(I thought that was still not definate also??
Please someone set us straight for once and for all.
-
Thanks guys..
just one more question...but I guess its obvious, since someone said you can get 3 bikes in.
Will the Peugeot Expert or Citroen Dispatch, take the bikes in straight, or do you have to put them in diagonally...(ie is it long enough!!)
Cheers
-
Damn....Dabster..you beat me too it.
That 4RT has some pretty good safety devices eh!....the twin airbags are particularly impressive
colly...no..luckily the missus didnt take up trials properly...so I still get out of the house on my own of a SUnday!!
-
Cheap gloves are no problem here. Can buy a pair for just a couple of quid....the do however tend to be more like MX gloves than trials gloves...but I recently found some that had very little padding on, and I've already used them for several months with no problems Will try to post a piccy later
-
Hi all,
A mate of mine reckons his Peugeot Expert van would be good for trials.
Anyone using one??....'cause I might be on the look out for a van in the near future.
Anyone know if you could fit one/two/NO trials bikes in this van??...looks big enough to me, but would appreciate any info.
Cheers in advance for any help
-
OK..changing things a LITTLE bit...heres a pic of my missus, on the trials coach's bike...having a lesson. Cant believe the coach is still smiling!
-
I'm with you on that Bikespace..it is a bit bizarre that it almost seems a taboo subject to say anything negative about the 4RT.
and I'm not goona either!!...BUT, because I've only ridden one for about 5 minutes which to me, seems like not enough to make an opinion.
I love my Rev3, but at the same time, dont give a donkeys doo-da if someone else tells me its rubbish and they dont like it!
Sorry for going off topic, but I believe its not me who started going off topic
-
I've heard that some brake fluids (NOT hydraulic oil) can damage the o rings on certain brake callipers...I think it was Brembo callipers.
I allways use DOT 5.1 on my Beta and that wont damage anything...including paintwork..so it dont matter if you spill it.
Sorry...doesnt really answer your question, but thats all I know on that one.
-
Ooooh Bikespace...you naughty boy!!..fancy trying to wind people up like that!!
-
DITTO.....and (to a point) lets keep it that way.
Dont want the masses spoiling it!
-
with THAT I might even be able to get through a section without putting my feet down

My dad has a climber in UK, and we have got quite a few parts for it before at BVM moto.......ALSO...if you need any engine work doing, or engine internals there is a guy in BATH (I think) that calls himself the Rotax man.
I bought an ENGINE manual off him, and he has very reasonable rates to work on that engine. He also has all the parts and is Rotax trained. He is also a very helpfull guy. He does have a website, but cant remember the exact name.
If you go to google and search its something like "Peter Knight" or maybe "Powersports" sorry cant remember.
If you find it, please post a link on here. I dont know how to do the link thing..but it would be usefull. I know there are a few CLimber owners get on here,...that really should know about Peter Knight..
Good luck
-
Ah!...you got me there trials lad!!
Well..I guess I just got carried away
