These are the tubed type tyre and should only really be fitted to a tubed type rim. The front will be fine but fitting one of these to a tubeless rear rim will give you more grief than you can imagine? The X11 is the one you want or for a few sheckles more get an X-Lite? Skip the beer and go for quality, you'll not regret it? GJ

As for the even cheaper ones, they're a great choice if you're planning on a lot of motorway miles Like most things in life, you get what you pay for? That said, if you can learn to find grip with the likes of a Heidenau on the rear you'll shoot up the rankings when you go back to a Mitch/IRC/Dunflop ! Life changing decisions are always hard to make when there's beer involved? I once chose the wrong rubber due to the beer and nineteen years later it's still costing me dearly GJ

After years of riding strokers I tried the 4RT for a while and really struggled to 'gel' with it. Maybe I didn't give it long enough but I'm still glad I went back to 2t. Just spoke to a chap who in the past few years has the ridden the SSDT with a 4t. This year he rode it on a 2t and found it a lot 'easier', his verdict was that he should have never have swapped to the 4t in the first place? On a more financial basis a 2t is a lot cheaper to maintain than a 4t, easier to work on and has less moving parts to go wrong. I can only speak for myself and my own personal choice but for ride-ability, maintenance and running costs I'm going to stick with the 2 stroke for as long as the enviro-police will let me. Best advice as always - try before you buy if you can? GJ

Section 4 at Fersit on Thursday, took a 5 and the injury. I was watching section 5 when he limped in with a punctured rear tyre to add to his misery. He looked as if he was in a lot of pain then, so I was surprised he rode Friday to be honest? Fair play to the man to keep going, apparently he spent most of Friday night at the hospital where I believe he was advised to call it quits. He has my sympathy for sure, to have to drop out on the last day must be tough, especially after such a good ride. GJ

Buying or selling, photos always give a reasonable idea of cosmetic condition. If the bike has been cared for externally then 9 times out of ten it's had the same TLC internally? If the seller posts poor quality pics then alarm bells should ring? Ask for some close up shots of any dodgy bits, if they don't send them on then walk away. Ask lots of questions, if they don't reply then there's a reason. At the end of the day, an auction is exactly that and only you place the bids. I've had many a bargain and been stung seldom simply by doing a bit of ground work before bidding. Auction fever can have disappointing results. So the moral of the story is that unless you have a full size plate with the correct lettering, spaces and borders mounted in a specific manner then you're liable to be nicked me old son! I don't suppose anyone has a copy of 'The Road Vehicles (Display of Registration Marks) Regulations 2001' by any chance? I've always wondered if the plate has to be fixed to the bike or if it could be worn by the rider (on a backpack for instance)? Daft idea perhaps but it would allow a full size plate to be displayed whilst on the road and no extra burden in the sections? GJ
