Toolbox
Most tools for most jobs until I bought my new gasser. How dare they change the thread on the flywheel puller !!!!!! I've already got 6 different types and none of them fit, suppose I'll need to add to the collection again..... On the subject of threads, I've just added a selection of Timesert thread repair inserts available from Wurth. Much better than helicoil if anyone's interested ? Happy spannering

280 Or300
If you're undecided then try as many as you can before committing yourself and parting with your hard earned cash. I've got 2 280 gassers, an 02 which never let me down and an 06 which I tamed down a bit with a flywheel weight and slow action throttle. I would class myself in the novice category even though I've been riding for years (naturally crap) and the 280 suits me fine. I've had a ride on Betas, Scorpas, Montys and Shercos - 125's, 200's, 250's etc and I love em all ! Price is the main reason I landed the Gasgas but I also like 'the feel' ? A personal thing not a sexual thing My son can beat me hands down on his 125 Sherco so I dont think engine size matters really (until you hit a big climb, then you miss the power) so why not try the 4T Scorpa ? Whatever you go for in the end just enjoy it Happy trialing

Trials Computer Games?
My son (yeh, and me cos I'm a big kid) has wondered why there's never been a decent trials game either. Moto Racer World Tour has 2 indoor 'sections' that keep you occupied for a minute or two but that seems to be the best going around. I reckon one of the top riders needs to get in touch with EA sports or whoever and get sumfin decent on the market. Tiger Woods and the late Mr Mcrae did very well putting their names to the games ? In the meantime I'll keep trying to master 'pong' !

History, Not My Best Subject !
Hey all you TLR fans. A mate of mine has just purchased a TLR 200. He would like to know a bit of history behind it if possible- 1985 (?) white paint, red frame. Frame no begins MD09-5100.... It's in really good nik so I offered him forty quid for it but he say no ?????? Any links, info etc would be greatly appreciated, muchas gracias in advance. GJ

Which Would You Choose? 2008 Pro Or 2007 Raga?
Option 1; If it was my choice I'd go for the Raga. Lots of quality items already fitted and even if it does nothing for your riding ability it's always nice to have something a bit more special than standard. Option 2; Buy both and keep the Raga in the living room cos there's not much worth watching on telly these days ! Option 3; Don't buy either and invest your money in a Northern Rock account. Decisions, decisions ! GJ

Gasgas Txt Pro 250 2005
Cant help just yet as I've never split a TXT yet but I'm just about to. Need to do the same, replace crankseals, so I'm also interested in any info. According to the GG exploded picture theres only one seal to the fly wheel side and 'o' rings to the clutch side. Is this right ?

Bunny Hop
I agree with aficionado, getting the rear wheel 180mm off the ground is easy, 360mm very hard !!! Doogzie, I'm in the same league as you mate but as my son keeps saying "practice, practice, practice" (Thats what I used to say to him, amazing how the tables have turned :-) He tells me its all in the timing, I believe him. Evidently my timing is terrible but what the heck, its good fun trying ! When it comes to logs, the chainsaw wins every time .......... :-)

Txt Pro 2003
Hi TY, I too run my gassers on a 50:1 mix (as stated in the handbook) without too much coking. Using synthetic helps reduce smoking and coking if you fancy splashing out a few quid more but mineral oil does the same job and is much cheaper. Many folk run a much leaner mix (i.e 80:1) without any problems so I guess it's up to you as to how much of a carbon footprint you want to blow out your exhaust ????? Happy hopping GJ :-)

Suspension Set Up
Hi samix, suspension is one of those subjects that could cause many a heated debate, perhaps thats why nobody has replied yet ? When I got my new 280 a couple of months ago the difference in the bounce department between it and my 2002 model was amazing. Why ? Just like ourselves suspension gets tired the more work it does. Perhaps your mates bike hasn't had as much abuse as your own bike? Replacing rear shocks and front fork internals is a pricey affair so your options are limited. A good service of all components front and rear will certainly be a good starting point. Setting up your rebound and damping is dependant on many factors, your weight / riding style etc. If the adjusters don't seem to be making any difference then I would suspect there's something wrong with them. The difference between screwed right in and right out should be VERY noticeable. There are many variables when it comes to suspension, too many for my poor typing skills to deal with here. All I can suggest is keep fiddling until you find what's right for YOU. By all means try copying all the settings on your mates bike but I could almost gaurantee it still wont be the same. This probably hasn't helped you in the slightest, maybe it has ? It's certainly helped me though, I'm now up to more than 4 words a minute on the keyboard ! Happy bouncing. GJ :-)

Sqeaking Rear End
There shouldn't be any play in your swingarm pivot. Its always hard to diagnose problems without seeing them but it sounds like you need to strip and replace your bushes. If you grab the top of the rear wheel and push and pull in a sideways direction you'll 'feel' just how bad (or good) your bushes are. Even if you cant feel anything, follow Scorpa3's advice and strip and re-grease anyway, then you'll know what to do when they do wear out. GJ :-)

Spark Plug
My mates old JTR used to run a NGK BP5ES without any problems. I remember this as he always had a spare taped to handlebars ! Funny how the memory works ? Hope this helps :-) GJ

Oil Fuel Mixture Txt 280
No offence taken Scorpa3, I love topics like this as we're all very opinionated ! LOL Many peeps will think 50-1 is a bit rich so maybe I can justify my mix with a few personal reasons; I'd rather replace a plug and do a de-coke than replace big end, small end, main bearings, rings etc... I do a lot of top gear road work between my fav practice places... I wont seize my chainsaw when I use the wrong can ! (yeh, its 40-1 but thats another debate) 100ml of oil is easier to judge when doing an emergency mix away from home..... These are MY reasons and not whats written in any book. I dare say I'd use a 100-1 mix to get me home, some lubrication is better than none but in the meantime I'll do what I've always done ! Back to the original question; There's now more than enough data for you to mix your petrol with, as for the manual ? I'm sure someone somewhere has sold their gasser and still has the manual propping up the workbench somewhere? Haven't seen any anywhere, perhaps someone knows of a download somewhere? Enough of my ranting, I'm off to Poland on the bike for a wee spin. Catch y'all for another exciting forum soon....... GJ

Oil Fuel Mixture Txt 280
I agree that too much is better than not enough, however there's a massive difference between 75:1 and 100:1 (Never mind 50:1)!!!! Surely we can give better advice than that... can't we???? I was only remarking on what I've seen 'advised' elsewhere. As I've stated above I'm following the written documentation of the GG handbook and using 50-1. Whats your advice Scorpa3 ?????????
