  1. If I ever get the shock off (see previous post) I was just wondering how to remove the rear shock spring. Mines a bit rusty in places and I was going to either paint it or powder coat it. But could somebody explain to me how to remove the spring. Also, will the shock have to be re-gassed afterwards or will it be unaffected by the spring removal. Help would be appreciated. Thanks
  2. The bottom shock bolt is completely seized on my bike. I've removed the swingarm, put it in a vice for better leverage and still no joy. Im currently bathing the nut in wd40 and will try again. I don't think the bolt has ever been taken off. Ive only owned the bike for a week. It had a sticker over the rubber bolt cover on the swing arm so it has clearly never been off. If the wd40 fails, what are my options? I was thinking of heating the nut end of the bolt up with oxyacetelene and then it should twist out. But Im concious the swing arm is alloy and im worried about heat near it and the shock itself. I cant get a hacksaw either side of the shock either. Help !!
  3. Thanks for that. Is it on the beta website ?
  4. Which plastics will fit my Rev 3 125. I think it's an 04 ? Will any of the 125 /250 plastics fit of all the rev 3 years ? Im only asking as there seems to be a big price variation between them all.
  5. Hi there Just bought an 125 rev 3. Frame number is zd3t3000040000037. Is has 04 stamped on the cylinder. Is all this pointing towards it being an 04 ?
  6. Don't forget to check the nose limit on your tow bar. Ty's are heavy and exceed most nose limits on saloon car towbars. Make sure your plate is visble for the cops as I've been pulled over a few times by the police. Bike racks occlude the view of the plate.
  7. Promise you won't laugh but I had a similar problem with my Rev 4. Turned out to be quite comical but presented in the same way. I allways put a rag in the airbox after removing the filter to clean it. This was to soak up any water that had got in from the jetwashing. One day I forgot to take it out, refitted the air filter and then halfway through a competition I had the same symptoms. The rag had sucked through and occluded the carb. Whole club laughed at me when I pulled the rag out. 4t engines can suck a lot through when you open them up. Could be worth checking the rubber from the airbox to the carb. I think it sounds like starvation rather than electrical.
  8. John. That looks a mess. Sorry that that happened. At least the kickstart seal looks salvageable. One will come up. There was a mint rebuilt 200 engine on e bay the other day. Hang in there. Build and they will come. Glad the bike sounded good when it was running.
  9. Ian. My Rev 3 suspension seemed to change very little whatever I dialed the rebound of the shocks too. The preload makes a difference so just have a twiddle. Others may think differently. But the correct fork oil and quantities definately made a hell of a difference so get this spot on. They are easy to rebuild with minimal tools. I'm the same weight as you. Could be worth having the rear shock rebuilt. Mine made a hell of a difference when i had it done. Lampkins do an exhange service.
  10. Thanks for that martin. That is good info.
  11. Tank and seat arrived today. Tank looks in great condition and should polish up nicely. Doesnt the fuel cap have a thread ? Tank cover looks knackered to be honest. The front bit where the bolt should go has completly snapped off and is going to need a bit of work to build it up.
  12. many thanks for those photos John. It looks nothing like what i expected it to look like. I thought it may look like the rubber 'U' shape tank holder that was common on the ty yams. Yours looks like a neopreme type material. Looks like my wetsuit may get cut to pieces then !!!
  13. Many thanks for that info fella. Time is something I have plenty of as Im recovering from a knee reconstruction. I havent got an orbital sander but Ive got an oscilating fine detail sander. Im very impressed with your tank. Looks amazing. What sort of mask did you use for all this sanding ? Don't suppose you could include a photo of the tank rubber that sits under the alloy tank. Looks like I may have to make something as the part seems unobtainable.
  14. Just bought a used fibreglass seat / tank unit for my Mont 123. I've only seen photos of it and am waiting for it to arrive but I know it needs a bit of work. Was just wondering what is the best way of preparing it for painting ? What grades sandpaper should I be using to take the old paint off etc and what sort of fibreglass fillers should I be using if it needs filling / repairing ? Any advice is appreciated as i've never worked with fibreglass.
  15. They do. Fitted to the left hand engine casing. It tensions the lower chain section before the chain enclosure sleeve starts. Doesn't yours have one ?
