    290 Beta Evo

I had a 2006 270 and swapped it in for a 290 Evo and I would do it again any day. Just go for it, I can promise that you will never look back. Just check out all of the threads regarding the Evo, not really any bad words so far.
  5. Mine squeak for a while but it goes away after a few minutes. However I received mine with 2 of the nuts missing from the suspension linkage, however BVM where absolutely spot on with sorting it and sent some factory original nuts through the post and asked me to pop in on the way to a practice to temporarily fix it so I could play that day. I am guessing they just need to bed in. The bike itself is excellent and you get used to it very quickly. I did the usual ditching of the foot pegs and raised the front mudguard also fitted the SXS stickers for the slots in the rear mudguard however anything to cover the slots would be fine. Other than that I changed the coolant to an organic (Motul) mixture as my old 270 corroded, more future proofing than anything, here. Changed the gearbox oil regularly, and just ride it. One good thing is I rolled it down a steep bank and it landed on the back mudguard that bent back on itself, I thought it was a gonna but it survived with no damage..bonus!! For my two penneth worth I think the bike is excellent it rides really well and you get used to it really quickly, I would recommend it to anyone (290). Power is controlled by your right wrist, so totally controllable then? I was nervous when deciding and was going to go for the GasGas for a change thinking that you should never be the first to buy a new model, but I am glad I did, I love it. Although I have to say I do still like the GasGas.
  6. This looks to be the one to use, I did a little research and it appears to have the right protecting properties. Next question, where can you get this? (UK) Found some. ebay 150309775024
  7. Regarding the coolant, my old 06 I noticed that the casing had corroded and was repaired. So what to do on the new bikes? Is it recommended to drain out the new (factory) coolant and replace with aftermarket or just keep to my usual schedule and replace twice yearly? I thought that from 2007 onwards that the casings where not supposed to corrode so easily. Can anybody shed any light? Thanks in advance.

  9. Nice pictures Russ. What camera do you use? Here are some I took of last weekends Bill Peters Trial from the Stroud Valley Motorcycle Club event. http://picasaweb.google.com/scottanderson6...thFebruary2009# Scott.
  10. blockbob, Here is a little Piccy. We had a chat on Saturday at BVM when he was collecting it and I was bringing mine in for new suspension linkage nuts. (they where never fitted from new). 2 nuts missing, 1 on the main suspension and the other from the connecting arm to the swinging arm. Everybody; just do a quick visual before riding. Can I add BVM where excellent in their response in getting it sorted..top job!! Take a look at my web link for more pictures of Sundays' SVMC Bill Peters Trial.
  11. The very bike that Heath rode on Sunday...
  12. Well in that case I take your comments as a compliment Ed. Thank you.
  13. I would love to get the opportunity to take up professional motorcycle sports events photography.........then the fall from the chair just woke me up. What did i say?
  14. I agree, the slower shutter speed does offer better results, the down side so far is that I suffer a lot of out of focus images. Panning works well if the timing is right. I also use a single focus point setting which I find helps a lot. Trouble is, if a bike is going away or towards you, you need the higher shutter speed and AI focusing, which then dumbs down the real movement in the shot.
  15. Thanks Ed. Still learning to get to grips with photography, this is my first venture into the SLR world!
  16. OK Ed, Here is another one I like.
  17. Another picture taken today from the Stroud Valley Trial - Gloucestershire Either love it or hate it, but I do like the water effect.
  18. A picture from the Kingswood Trial (25th January 2009)
  19. Chewy, I joined the club this year! I have been a member of Zona 1 for quite a while but I wanted to join a club a bit closer to home. I am from Bristol as well. Take a look at my web link and you will see some photos of the last Kingswood trial. I didn't enter because I only had done an hour on my new bike and wanted to get more time on it. Will be at the next one though.
  20. Here's one of my first ones? I kept some the colour on his jacket and in the background but the rest of the image is in B & W Bike Sherco 3.2 2009 Taken at Zona 1 trial - Nettleton Gloucestershire
  21. If you are using Vista, forget it! I have the same problems with mine.
  22. I had issues with my 06 270 and the bearings needed changing within six months. I was told that starting a bike after washing and not warming it properly can cause condensation and lead to premature corrosion. Apparently the trick is to wash then prepare and not to start again until you ride it. Any tips for looking after main bearings would be appreciated, as I have just forked out for a new bike!
  23. From the factory, after the running in period, what modifications need to be done to the carb? I notice that when the bike is vertical petrol leaks from the overflow. Any ideas anybody?
