Practice a section in whatever gear you decide is right, once you can clean it try again in another gear. Good practice as you are always going to come across a section where there is no perfect gear.
The trouble with supporting your own manufactures starts when their products are over priced crap. If the quality is there, nationalism / protectionism does'nt come into it. The financial crisis is really going to hurt Scotland, but the car manufacturing problem will have minimal effect (except to car dealers) as this was shafted long ago.
These are conventional oil shocks, they have DOT as manufactures / model name, black body, crome springs. Fitted to my B40. Purchased from Jimmy Morton Motorcycle at Mauchline, for trials. Cant really fault them.
trialsbits.co.uk supply a range of lenghts and bends but you have to roll the threads youself. (however they also sell thread rolling equipment if your pockets are deep enough )
