Errrr the're have been a few problems with reliability, instruments being one.
-
Taff
If you would like me to show you directions on your wife i'm happy to help.
-
You go ahead Fred, there is an independent dealer/supplier near me who does a cracking job with 4rts and he even set up a special map for me when I had one.
Don't misinterpret what I have said above they are good bikes, probably as reliable as anything, certainly better if you don't fettle much, and well made.
If its for you then great but when people gush gush and gush some more I think its fair game to say Whoa!
-
Don't think you need a "working" speedo for mot? I used to stick a little lump of ally to front backplate and connect with rubber hose, looked the part!
-
de-compressor to reduce engine braking (more like a 2 stroke?)
-
When was there last podium in the BTC?
When was the last National win on one?
Who has won a centre championship on one?
-
Ditto uk, no importer here.
JJ and shed racer ffs read my earlier comment "..if you like yours fine...".
Of course I get personal choice I don't want you to like what I like but please be realistic, there may have been improvements but the glaring similarities as to when it first came out are there for all to see, less some great Showas.
-
I just don't get this my bike is best?
I think that in all the british Italian and French national championships (glen) there are no montesas.
Clearly the experts choice isn't a 4rt. For that matter if I wanted to buy another new one, from whom would I buy one? Clearly the majority agree.or else sandifords and pidcocks would have had enough success to keep going with it.
Its an 8 year old bike and if you like yours fine, but please lets be realistic surely its now worse than when it first came out cos its got cheaper components.
-
Am I correct in saying there are no montesas in the elite championship class in Spain England Italy and France?
-
-
I very much doubt the FIM give a sh!t about trials website.
I'm pretty sure it was originally set up and controlled by the results Guru charley but I could be wrong.
-
-
its not sad its a mistake.
Borus is the importer not 280i, whose view is valid insomuch as "my bike is best".
whether this subject is relevant to me or not, you are the judge now?
-
So no one is in any Doubt 280i is the importer of these bikes into Canada, I believe, so his views are not completely un biased.
-
Tbh if you want one go for it. A 2012 in good condition sold for £2400 last week so don't pay over the odds.....
-
Simply put it is not as important and fundamental no-stop is essentially that no stop, stop allowed is made up from many things and tbh rolling back which rarely occured any way is not essntial as its a penalty to completing the section in 1 1/2minutes.
Once you allow a hesitation then a half second very quickly we get the "spanish three" and we're back where we started.
BUT the argument is pointless as rules are making no difference to anything at this top level, and if no stop were any kind of answer rather than creating confusion and controversy we would all be shouting from the roftops.
-
clearly the factories believe the WTC, no trucks at fort william let alone the top riders?
Certainly the btc that i saw 2 weeks ago did match what i ride, I even rode the first when we were putting in flags so as an inspiration to ppeps it was a great success, all we need is to get a few more sections that are well designed and dont result in scores like the Spanish round there has to be a happy medium? But not a circus.
As sunt says rules whatever they are make no difference, and as for rolling back it just hasnt happened that much and the 1 minute 30 sec rule sort of negates the significance of a minor transgression like this, but stopping under no stop is fundamental to the rule change and its happening in every section with every rider, big difference.
-
pretty much i think.Take gratterola, and to much less of an extent Jack Challoner.
Grat is a nice enough lad who can ride to a good standard in the top route, but unlike Wigg gubian and Gomez hasnt won either junior or youth titles, but still manages to get support from Italian sponsors, and I guess they (the italians) are sorting out JC?
What is an expense for these also rans is simply getting to events paying the entry fees and trying to ride as a professional ie getting some sort of wage? Or at least expenses to get to events.
These lower end riders and those who we would wish to compete need to stick at for a few years to try and break through. (See how long its taken dibs to get podium, grat his sevnth place and so on, Fajardo only has one win)
I dont know how we can fund these riders but severity may help the odd one to stick at it for an extra year or so.
Certainly the factories could be more forthcoming, in simple support at events, ditto federations, I cant see why Sherco for example seem to have a great bike for Cabs but the rest arent as good? Why?
-
I actually think Bou is not much of a better rider than vesty was having seen both up close, in some ways they are very similar in approach. The difference now is a) the bikes are probably 3 or four times better and techniques have improved year on year to enable the riders to use the full potential of these improved bikes. At the same time the rider just starting out, even if he has the latest factory replica is probably not much better than me on my OSSA mar way back in the 70's.
The 15 I'm thinking of would consist of a few of the Japenese maybe one or two antipodeans, then mainly Junior class winners like Gomez Wigg Gibert even Smage and Webb, a few french lads, these have all dropped out/moved on in very recent years, not forgetting taddy!
Whilst taddy may be the exception the cost of travelling around the world, no real factory support except for one or two, means that unfortunately to ride wtc you have to self fund pretty much outside top six or so
This is illustrated particularily by Gratterola who has funding from Italy, Jack Challoner riding for an italian team as have dibs and wiggy, and Sandra Gomez still competing when her brother has moved to extreme enduro.
I am particularily worried that the only change the FIM have done is to change the rules, why?
Why have they not followed through on their statement that "other changes will follow"?
Why when they have DHL as a partner is there no arrangement to transport bikes to events?
Why do the factories not "product support" more riders?
Why do the factories not have a bonus scheme to incentivise riders to compete? (like mx in the states)
Why do the top riders have to pay to enter events when often money is taken on the gate?
Why is prize money given at American championship events but not at wtc?
-
If the airbox is leaking dirt can get in.
My guess is engine is worn and it needs a refresh.
Carb has 10mm bolt on side this is banjo filter.
-
Worth a fortune in Spain.............
-
So lets say Dec bullock Rob Waite and Harry Harvey should be able to ride?
Think you would find that any section they could get through would be cleaned by Bou so why would they want to compete having nothing but 5's?
The reality is that sections that test the best means that there isnt many more than 30 in the world that can ride at this level, the fact that the 15 that dont isnt down to severity otherwise it would be easy enough to solve.
Diluting the standard of sections so that Harry can ride is just plain daft and would make a joke of whaats not working very welll anyway.
I dont know what level you ride at but surely if you were forced to ride such an easy course that you cleaned everything you'd soon realise the point I'm making.
Regardless the WTC should be a spectacle that looks something special to me you and the average punter.
-
Right, so name the riders at the bottom of your list who could ride the same route as Bou and Raga?
-
Calm down fella, I think there is less going on here than you think!
Clutch rattle is normal even on new bikes so dont worry about the noise, its fine, lets park that.
The carb if its a dellorto means the bike isnt "new"? Do you mean new to you?
What did you do to cure the air leak issue you noted above?
If the tickover is too fast slow it right down till it just stops then A LITTLE above that is fine.
Note here if it wont tickover unless its quite fast then there is something fundamentally wrong.
When you cleaned the carb did you check the banjo filter? Does the choke seat nicely and make a good seal?
Are the floats set at 18.5mm?
All this talk of 3 or 3 1/2 turns is rubbish you need to start here and adjust to suit the particular bike/atmospheric conditions. (that said dellortos are pretty good and dont vary as much as kehins)
-
why? You want to stop on kill switch simply lift top off magnet engine dies put back on
