Think you're on the right track there Dabster, the sidecars make all the sections too easy and mixing it with modern bikes is just as bad for the opposite reason in my experience. Riding twinshocks is getting really popular in a lot of areas these days, people are making an effort to turn out competative machines, i think it's time for a shake up of the series also.

Be interested to hear you views on the classic series Dabster, i rode in a few last year but most were very dissapointing.

Ahh yes you're right, i remember now, pink plastics not frame.

The white framed model was introduced in 1988, there were no ty monoshock models before 1984, (they were twinshocks) I think the "pinky" pink framed models were introduced around 1991 ish, i stand to be corrected on this point though.

I hang on the bugger for dear life, and i only broke one lever in 15 years of weekly trials, as soon as you let go it gets expensive

I used to live in Oxford for a while, didn't seem very good area for trials though (no mountains)

They were a revolutionary bike, and well built, but were out of date very quickly, when the trick riding really started they were finished.

Had a couple of really stupid 5's which spoilt a good ride, typical! Did you get to the hillclimb section? there were some riderless machines heading back through the trees on that one! Do you live within reasonable travelling distance of Cumbria?

Hey Sparky, you going to Cumberland 2 day? Some new sections in woods we've never been in before. You would have liked the nostalgia trial t'other day, some half decent sections, even managed to show Nick the way it's done! (well, on most cleans anyway, but i'll take it!)

It's no secret, just use the existing guard, then cut some bits of card to the shape you want to extend. Then **** some alloy to the shape of the card templates and get someone to TIG them on, then file smooth!

Stuck int' shed? Why it was only the other day that i was chucking the thing down the beck! Still managed to throw myself in between it and the rocks though, saves time in the workshop later

The one's on the TLR 250 aren't really good enough for the job,you need to modify them so they actually protect your valuable side cases. Like this...........

You have to ride both, then decide. It's the only way.

If the piston is siezed at the bottom of it's stroke, the oil he is pouring down could be running into the exhaust or transfer ports.

The very last models had a hydraulic clutch fitted, Tommi Ahvala had one on his climber just before the last models came out.

That bike is too noisy, i hope we don't head down the road where the MX boys have ended up because of loud four strokes causing problems. Trials does not need more problems brought on by ourselves having noisy bikes.

Yamaha Dude, if your bike has a red frame and drum brakes, then it is a 1984 - 1987 model. The white framed model was introduced in 1988.

Just use ordinary grease, i've used it for 15 years and never had any trouble with a throttle, use WD40 on the handlebar to ensure smooth action.
