I suspect the owner has moved the shock mounts forward because the original shocks have been replaced with shorter ones, and it's a quick bodge with a welder.

Hmmm, what you need to do is take the rotary valve engine from the CCM and shove it in the Armstrong, that would solve the parts problem and give you more power in one move!

Hmmm, despite my worst EVER ride, i thought the trial was really good, hard but fair, nothing dangerous or really tight turns.

Only got stuck in the bogs once too

No scratches on rims, exhaust, sidestand, flywheel cover, plastics even.

Hmmm, judging by the lack of scratches/rubbing in the usual places, i would say craftypiggy has posted pictures of his bike when it was new.
Look at the inside of the silencer and the frame/swingarm where your boots rub after 5 mins on the bike.
I demand craftypiggy posts photo's of the bike with todays newspaper next to it!!!!!!

Think i have a full set of original spokes for a TLR 250 rear wheel in the garage, from memory they were as new condition when i took them off, would you be interested in buying them?
Probably quite a bit cheaper than getting new ones made up.

Maybe something like GT85 would be better than WD40, it has teflon so may be better for lubrication but still wouldn't be sticky enough to attract mud?

Pretty sure you can still get parts, but you will need them, these bikes were very brittle 15 years ago, i personally wouldn't go near one, but if it's VERY cheap and your good with the spanners...........it's up to you!

On a 2 stroke it can often pay to pull as high a gear as you can, use full throttle and when you shut the power off the tyre will grip on the over-run.
Obviously you can't do this in every section but if you have sharp bank to get up, you can use the over-run to get grip up the last few feet of the bank as long as you have enough revs on.

Doesn't mean the cable is always well routed just because it's a new bike, they don't always have time at the factory to set things up properly believe me.

Pressure wash (carefully) the thick mud off, then hot soapy water and brushes/sponges to clean in all the corners.
When dry, do all the maintenance (filter etc) and wipe the whole bike over with a WD40 rag to make it gleam, then polish plastics with wax and do the alloy with metal polish.

Personally i would get one of the first 315's, you can pick 'em up cheap these days, easier to ride, lower, lighter and your son will think it's cool because it will look just like the last 315's!

VERY carefully prize up the rubber bearing seal, some people use a pin or a sharp stanley knife blade. Then pack the bearings with grease, you can do this on brand new bearings too as sometimes there isn't much grease in there to start with!
Also grease the axle lightly when reassembling the wheel to stop corrosion and/or seizing.

Don't expect to be able to trick-ride the TYZ like a scorpa or any other recent trials bike, they are very hard work to hop about.

That's true, combined sidecar rounds are a waste of time for competitive solo riders.
