Rev the thing then dump the clutch, Beta's are not short of power, are you sure you have it wide open? any bike will get up a short sharp climb, it's only the BIG long climbs where slight differences between bikes begin to show up, watch the other riders very closely and study their technique, don't be afraid to ask a good rider for advice, knowing the right way to tackle an obstacle is WAY more important than having more power on a bike that doesn't need it.

Also, it's surprising just how cheap you can get good oil for, if you shop around, try your local motor factors first!! If they stock castrol car oil for example, they can usually get most other castrol oils too if you ask.

I have been using Shell Advance fully synthetic oil in my TLR250 for ages now, change after every 5 trials. No problems with clutch slip or anything, don't know if ultra is a motorcycle specific oil like Advance, you should always use a motorcycle specific oil when using synthetic, as it is designed for use with wet clutches.

Apparently, montesa/honda are homing in on the spec for their 4 stroke machine, they currently have several size/spec engines running at the moment, although a 350cc version has been abandoned as it made too much power in the wrong way!! Mark Freixa will be riding a 4 stroke for more than a few rounds this coming season, but Dougie will be 2 stroke mounted all year.
