Anyone know the results yet please?

I welded the washer back on on 3 rev 3 we had,was still ok after a year use.Splines in theory should be softened by doing this but its better tnan buying a new kickstart which will probably fail in the same way
-
Anyone know the postcode for this please, can't find kilminster on map, thanks in advance
-
It takes 400/450 millilitres of dextron atf 3,willbe roughly halfway up sightglass on rhside of bike with bike standing upright on level ground.I run mine on 75/1 of good [

You need 12v dc,don't know where you might get one though
-
Takes 450ml,not 750 of ATF which you can get from a car spares shop
-
Take the clutch plates out,I bet the clutch hub and basket have grooves worn in them where the plates engage. The cure is to file carefully these areas to make them smooth. The plates are sticking in the grooves and not coming apart= clutch not disengaging. If the metal plates are blue from giving the clutch a lot of stick these will need replacing as they will be warped. My 06 sherco had the same fault, doing this cured it;only downside is the clutch rattling a bit at tickover.

Don't need jointing compound anywhere, other than a small dob to hold gasket in place, definetly not on head/cylinder joint, compression pressure will most likely blow it
-
there's no significant difference between o4/06,buy the best conditiion you can afford, rather than age.I don't know how much you know about bikes, but it's a good idea to take someone else who does when viewing.Good luck

Tried thicker base gasket on a 300,ruined the top end and had a minimal effect low down,so I don't advise it.I would fit a flywheel wieght and/or a slow action throttle. It's more expensive but runs/rides much better,I think these engines are very sensitive to different port timing.Never tried a cylinder head spacer, but I know some who have had head sealing problems

Have a look at the kickstart shaft gear, they often chip a tooth, which gets picked up on any of the gears in the clutch casing. It only takes a tiny piece to cause one hell of a row. Worth taking the clutch off and inspecting everything with a magnifying glass.Had this happen on 2 Gassers we've owned
-
It has a needle roller big end,not shells. You need a press to replace the big end, beyond what most non mechanics/engineers can do.If it is the big end,I doubt if the rest of the motor is that good either.Go and have a good look/listen,clutch basket noise shuts up when the clutch is pulled in.Sorry to p...s on your firework, but old worn out trials bikes can get expensive.Unless it's incredibly cheap, you're often better off buying one thats right.
-
Looks like it 'll go in,but you should take someone with you who knows what to look for even if you have to pay a train fare back for them.Cheaper than buying a duff one
-
New raga and allowed to bring it indoors,you'd best do the lottery with luck like that.That 315 sure was dear back then,the raga must seem a bargain in comparison.Your logic wouldn't get past my missus tho{

Had a 10 minute go on one, thought it the best production bike i've ridden
-
Depends on your expendations,a bike of this age even as new will never be as good as a good recent one.Don't know your budget/mechanical or riding skills, but putting right a bike thats been let go too far is an expensive task.I had a 2000 280 when they were new and thought it was the dogs b.......ks,but rode one recently and it felt heavy, steered slow with harsh dead suspension.I would go for something newer and better condition, you'll enjoy this great sport more

I straighten them by rubbing a bar of soap on the bent area, then heating it on the gas ring on the cooker[when the wife 's out].When the soap goes black its the right temp.Pick it up with pliers, its b.....y hot.
-
Pads are never as good once contaminated with fluid, try some new ones.BVM[google it]are very helpful, also ensure all the pistons in the caliper move.Clean the disc up with brake cleaner first.Rare for an 06 bike to have a poor brake if everythings right, doubt theres anything serios wrong, good luck
-
It needs a set of clutch plates, and probably the slots in the clutch basket filing smooth.Any good quality light gear oil will do the job
-
They weren't good when new,horrible power band,long,heavy,high,as Lee says,worst Fantic ever,it won't have improved with age either,AVOID
-
290 is the best sherco of 06,depends how much you need the extra power. The rear shock on them isn't as good as the Beta, and the steering lock isn't that good.Footrests feel high, and they don't pull 4th in mud or big climbs .Feel much lighter on the front than a Beta, bit more of an experts bike.Frame cracking isn't common, only shows up on hard used ones, seen a few with the front engine mounts rewelded.Have a good go on it,if you like it 1600 isn't too dear
-
There are 4 power curves in the ignition on this bike, but you need the software from gas gas to do it.Your importer may be able to help, gas gas uk used to do it.The one i had was programmed so it was softer at the bottom and had a monumental mid and top end.Alternatively theflywheel weight takes the sting out of the bottom with no adverse effects, still comes in plenty hard enough whenyou need it,and makes it harder to stall, good mod in most peoples opinion
-
No contest 300 pro every time,an 8 year old bike is bound to have done more than a 3 year old one.The pro is powerful, but a slow action twistgrip and a flywheel weight will make it much easier to ride. The difference between the 2 is like night and day, definetly spend the extra
-
I wouldn't just fit a new clutch pack, these clutches slip not drag when worn. The fingers aren't the problem either, change the seals in the top hat part, they don't always look worn and they are known for giving the problem you have. You won't see fluid returning to the master cylinder,it's leaking into the gear oil
