    No Clutch

I had the same thing happen to me. When I stripped it all down one of the friction plates had become dislodged from its backing. Apparently this is quite common.
  2. I have one myself and think its great. All that has previously been said about gasgas apply with this one... ie build quality. Most parts are readily available from GG UK with the exception of some stickers. The only really annoying thing i've found was having to replace the clutch plates because the friction material broke away. Apparently this is common on this model age. All I need now is to be able to ride it a bit better and we're sorted
  3. Check that you have a voltage to the primary circuit of the coil. If you have then its the coil... Failing that its probably under the flywheel so you'll probably have to go toa dealer anyway. btw... Its a lot easier if you have a friend to help kick whist you measure.
  4. You don't rip the valve out when the tyre spins and saves weight of course
  5. I have fond memories of rushing home from school to watch kickstart on the TV in my youth. With the events going on at Hawkstone I began thinking if perhaps it was time something like this was done again. What do other people think?
  6. I'd try a new condenser. You shouldn't get a big spark at the points.
  7. being a bit on the plump side, i'd be interested to hear what other folk do about clothing. I'm a 42 waist and so far i've been unable to find anything that fits. Surely i'm not the only BIG bloke who does trials

    Fork Oil

I've just replaced the fork seals on my JTX270 which was a doddle but how do I refil the forks with oil? I presume you unscrew the big hex nut at the top of each leg but there is a screw of some kind off to one side. Does that need to be removed first?
  9. The kick start is slipping on my sons tx125. the problem is internal and when it slips you can hear what sounds like gears not engaging. Is this a common problem and is there a likely cause? Ideally what i'd like to be able to do is order any replacemement parts before stripping the engine to sort it out. But which parts to order? I've looked at the parts list on the gasgas uk website but I cant see how it all works. If someone could give me a quick run down of how the parts engage it would be much appreciated. Easy enough to work out once its in bits but i'd like to get the repair over and done with asap. Thanks
  10. No. I'm grounded by the wife until my sons bike is repaired Currently its in the tender loving hands of John Lee

  12. You can't buy single friction plates from gasgas uk anymore. You have to buy the complete assembly which consists of 7 friction plates and the metal plates to go between. The old assembly had 6 friction plates therefore I can't see how you could have replaced the broken plates with new ones without using new and ond ones together.
  13. I've just changed the clutch plates on mine too. The new friction plates are thinner and there are one more of each type to make the stack up to the same thickness. If you've mixed old and new then thats why your having the problem. I had to change mine because the friction material on the outside plate had come away from its backing too.
  14. Can you give any more details? What is that engine? Anyone like to suggest what might be involved in such a transplant?
  15. pandelboy, where in Oxford is Oxford bolt and bearing ? I'll be in Oxford next week
  16. Any help would be most useful. I have looked on the side of the bearing and it says.... INA HN1516 I haven't been able to find this part anywhere online and my local INA distributor is out of stock. Surely there must be an alternative from another manufacturer
  17. Does anyone know the actual part no's for the rear link needle roller bearings. I don't mean the gasgas number which is BT27714009 I mean the actual bearing number.
  18. I'm trying to remove the engine from my tx125 but none of the sockets I have will fit the swinging arm nuts. The one that goes right through the back of the engine. What do you use to undo these nuts?
  19. How do you measure the rise of handlebars?
  20. After starting this thread I feel I have to reply to some of the comments. I fully agree with r2w in so far as it should be through personal choice but I also firmly believe that to not wear one in competition is crazy. I also think that clubs should enforce a rule to make the wearing of helmets compulsory during competition. Adults have a responsibility to set an example. It was difficult enough getting my 13 year old son to wear a helmet and seeing these pics does nothing to make that easier. As I understand it, hospitals will charge for any treatment bought about by the non wearing of helmets and as to it only being you who suffers this is far from true. I'm sure most of you have family of some sort who would have to live with the results of your decision. Infact I would go so far as to say that it's very selfish of you not to wear one. I also think that it does nothing for the way the sport is presented to the public. To my mind its just common sense to try to minimize the dangers involved in this sport. Sorry if this sounds like me spouting off. I'm not really honest but it is interesting to see peoples views on the subject. It would also be interesting to see how location influences peoples choice. ie... its pretty soft going around most of the south. Incidently, i'm taking my son to the Steve Saunders trainning day this Saturday and he is insisting that everyone riding MUST wear helmets and boots.
  21. Looking through some of the pics on some clubs websites i'm amazed and horrified how many people compete without wearling a crash helmet. I can understand to a certain degree why you might want to do it on an old bike but this is shere loonacy!! I have no idea who this bloke is but here's a typical example...

    B Class Riders

I think the principal is a good one its just very difficult for us parents on a limited budget to get hold of GOOD 2nd hard 125's. They're like gold dust at the moment and a new machine is beyond my means. Why choose 125's? At least if they'd gone to 175's we'd have a fighting chance.

    Rear Springs

Are the rear springs on colour coded? I'm a big bloke and i'm thinking about replacing the spring on mine with something a bit more heafty. Any sugestions? And don't say loose weight !!! thats why i'm doing this

    Jtx 270

I've just bought myself a JTX and it has some kind of digital readout mounted in the fuel tank. What is it and how do I use it? Anyone have an instruction manual for one of these I could borrow?
