I think the reason that only one manufacturer has enough knowledge of building 4t trials and ofcourse Honda has money to back it up. From what I've heard they started testing the first prototype of the 4RT back in 2003. Sherco has done a good job with the 4t, if you think of how big they are compared to Honda. If Sherco continue to develop the 4t it will be a great bike in a few years. I think GasGas and Beta will have a problem if FIM decide to run only 4t. For me the biggest reason to ride a 4t is that it suits my riding perfectly, and, what's more important, it makes me smile I havn't actually seen anyone driving a 4RT that hasn't been smiling, exept for those who have decided that the bike is no good before they have even tried it.

It is not only the emission that makes the 4t a good trials engine, but many other things such as traction and smoothness. But that was not my point. I'm not so sure that today's 2t can meet the requirements of Euro 3, without a heavy rebuild. The question is, is a 2t really that much better than a 4t that developing a 4t is not an option.

I read that from 2007 all trials bikes have to meet Euro 3 emission rules. Only on roads I think but anyway this must be good for the 4t. FIM meeting protocol top of page 4
  4. The last one really looks like it has 360cc engine. Could it be one of the early ones? Didn't think they survived the Honda crusher

I'm very interested in the map experiment your doing as I also like the mild setting. I've done som modding on it but since I don't have any education on the system I don't know what's best. I have not experienced any problems with start or idle at cold conditions but it will be interesting to see what you find out. Don't know if it has any relevance but I use a petrol that is environment friendly and is used in power saws nad such (don't know the name in english). BTW the silencer get really hot. After just a couple of minutes of testing I couldn't hold my hand at the lower end of the carbon cover

It's here!!! I just installed the exhaust and tested i outside the garage. I must say the exhaust and pipe are a really good fit and the welding is amazing. I'll post the photos in 2 post. <mention of this company is not permitted on Trials Central> did a splendid job with the order and there will be more orders from Sweden NOTE: To say that the Mitani silencer is quiet is little wrong BUT it's far better than the original one. It has a mellow sound to it and not the high pitched sound of the original. When you rev the bike the Mitani silencer still has plenty of grunt but in a more pleasant way. I will post a video of me riding in a section as soon as all the snow i gone (may take a while).
  8. have you removed the restrictor between the ECU and the inlet? did you get it in a crater or did your dealer fix with it first

Hello everyone! ferretflasher, thanks for keeping me updated. It's just sad that there is about 40 cm of snow here and the ground is frozen so there won't be any riding in a couple of weeks. Steve, I do know Jonny. He and my dad used to do alot of training together, not that my dad was up to Jonny's standard, but he stop riding when I was about 10-12 years old (23 now) because I think he had problem with he's shoulders and knees. He had a very physical riding style, think he wore himself out. After that he did a little bit of roadracing for some years, then he and his dad introduced crosscart here in Sweden. Last time I talked to him he had his own team of 50cc roadracers that he competes with in Sweden and around Europe. Jonny tested my 4RT and said that it would be is next trials bike but I have not seen him on one yet, I don't think he got the time. BTW, any of you chaps have problem on your TLRs with massive clutch slip when engaging in 2nd gear and some revs. It's like "here's drag...nothing happens...no...maybe...no...no...BANG!!!" and I have to concentrate not to fall of the bike
  10. is my silencer in that shipment too has anyone tested any lower footrest brackets, any good?
  11. ludde replied to ludde's topic in Honda
the TLR Honda and the Repsol 4rt is mine and the 05 4rt is my dad's but that's just half of the bikes we have at home (little to much really)
  12. ludde replied to ludde's topic in Honda
oh...i allmost forgot that have to show you the rest of the inhabitants in the garage bikespace, i cleaned up before the photo, it was a real mess with oil puddles everywhere...i didn't mean to make you upset
  13. ludde posted a topic in Honda
since there has been a little bit of silence in the honda department i thought i'd give you some eyecandy. just changed the engine oil and checked the rotor and clutch. i smell a little bit of oil in the exhausts then starting cold, anyone have a clue what it could be or is it standard on these bikes?
  14. there is a softer mapping on the HRC disk, I've tested it and I found it very smooth little to smooth for my liking so edited it so the ignition isn't as retarded. I think it's easier now to control it around idle, it also feels like it's stronger at low revs but that can just be me dreaming. anyone know if they really changed anything in the clutch because my new repsol feels totally different from my dad's 05. it's less drag and little more on and off but it's a big difference
  15. so now it's done...I have ordered the Mitani exhaust system from <mention of this company is not permitted on Trials Central> plus some other small things ferretflasher, I hope you'll keep an eye on my things for me
  16. are you sure you mean +5 deg and not -5 deg do you think i should go for the mitani exhaust is it something that is just for the experts
  17. the setting i am testing right now is +5% more fuel everywhere and the ignition set to a min of -5 degrees. i used the 05rtlml0.e2p and reduced everything to half of what is was (hope that makes sence). i will reduce the fuel to +3% since the plug is a little black. all i want is to get as much torque as possible because i'm not the revving type of rider, i use high gears instead. what is the positive and negative on the ignition setting, i think i have figured out but just like to be sure
  18. what about the wes silencer it got good reviews at todotrial but has anyone exept them tested it. also has anyone got any programs for the HRC ECU they want to share with me since I don't really have figured out what all the changes does to the bike
  19. what about some factory bling just got it finished...i want to ride have to wait til after christmas has anyone tested wes or mitani silencers, are they better that stock or is it just for bling i'm thinking about ordering the whole mitani titanium exhaust from <mention of this company is not permitted on Trials Central> but since none here in sweden has got it i wanted to check with you guys first
  20. if you read the notice on todotrial.com about Freixa quiting montesa it says that Fuji, Dougie and Laia has already signed for 2006

You can adjust the timing and fuel freely. And yes you can take a laptop with you and adjust while your riding. If you screw up you can always go back to the default setting. There is only one guy here in Sweden who has the adjustable ECU, and he has added about 10% more fuel then default, don't know about the timing, and the bike is super smooth on low revs. I can give you more info when I get my repsol I also wonder about the 280cc bigbore kit, would be massive to ride as I always liked bigbore bikes.
  22. ludde replied to gizza5's topic in Montesa
I'm surprised that nobody is talking about buying the repsol. Here in Sweden you get more bang for your buck if you take the repsol. The HRC ECU (which is included in the repsol) costs more, if you buy it separately, than the money you spend extra to get the repsol instead of the standard 4rt AND you get extra carbon bits. btw my repsol replica should be here in about 3 weeks
  23. ludde replied to trialspro's topic in Montesa
if your not riding in hot temp (30 degrees C) then a 5 is best. my bike became smoother at low revs
  24. ludde replied to ludde's topic in Honda
nope...they are not rebuildable (it's the original ones) so where can i get my hands on a pair of new ones?
  25. ludde posted a topic in Honda
i just bought at tlr 250 and the bike is really good BUT the suspension is very strange. the damping is ok but the rebound horribly slow, it has about half the speed up as it did down does anyone have a solution or do i have to empty my pockets and buy something new?
