As the starter of this topic I thought I should add My Impressions. Firstly the trial was a good one and I won't add to my son's comments on that, he enjoyed himself greatly. As for time etc, there was a natural bottleneck between Section 2 and 3. As soon as the riders came out of two they were on "top of" the queue for section three. This meant quite rightly the Observer on 2 would not let the next lad start until the queue moved forward. This was partly due to the severity of section 3 and the inability of riders to "clear out" of the section as the only way out was thru the most difficult part of that section. My own experience was that it was hard to get into to assist, I was getting cobbered in the face by a loose log, and the dad's (and Mum's) having to climb that difficult part to get to a catching spot. They also had to use that route as no other existed to get by.
The Gulley that Sections 1 to 6 were in meant that until you got to six there was very little space for the bikes, riders and parents. Seven was a breath of fresh air and the Sections 8 to 14 had room to manouvere.
I was passing section 7 at 16:15 and it was being pulled despite the official finish time being 16:34 + The extra time allowed.
There appears to have been confusion as well at the end regarding the tie for sixth place in the 125 A Class.
Lastly No finishers awards???

Came Wednesday. What do you need to know??
-
Looks like myself and NYL are making the trip down to Devon(many thanks to "Zac's dad"). See you down there!!
-
Track down some Tesco 99Ron or use Optimax or another 98RON fuel. If the noises disappear then you have pre-ignition.
-
Forgot that mine also carried a Malaguti Monte! 50cc Moped from the eighties.
-
FYI riding with an illegal plate =
-
I have seen it and will allow leaves and "swept" rocks but not big un's. It's amazing how what starts as a hazard gets chopped away by early riders tho.
P.S. North Yorkshire Lad won the "Brenda Jones Sheild" last year.
-
Beginners trials are just that. You'd probably find it useful to try them out and see how your skills work on a modern course. They don't require any "hopping" so are always a good start point to see where you fit. Steve Lampkin came out to do Beginners after years of playing football(I'm told but it could have been cricket?) in order that his son could have a go. Even on a old but tidy TY250 he was obviously a good rider and moved on quickly. The Novice course tends to be between The Clubman course and The Hard Course although most tend to be closer to the Clubman course. There are also the "easy" trials. Pickering run these thru the year. Just watch out on this site, the club sites and TMX. Most Club sites link to other clubs and dates and entry forms are avaiable.

My Dave Cooper has served me well. It has carried A Mecatechno 80, Beta Rev50, 2004 Sherco 125 and is currently carrying a 2006 Gas Gas 125. Two things, Firstly to adjust it to fit I had to bring it right down to the shortest it would go, even removing the "bung" on the front wheel side. Secondly I have put some pipe insulation on the Upright and the front bar of the rear wheel holder to stop the bike leaning into the car's hatch and also to stop the wheels being marked. Rocks and stones are one thing, denting a wheel on the rack would be careless.

Due to the very icy conditions at Deer Park the First round has been cancelled. An alternative date will be provided. Apologies to any riders planning to attend.
-
Well Fuel Injection requires tanks to be pressurised, hence the Whoosh when you open your petrol cap on a car. This is why the tank is built of metal so it resists collapse.
-
Starts on Saturday!!(4th March)
The Venue is Deer Park Just outside Bingley and for those wanting a lie-in or those more rightous of you working in the morning its starting at 2PM. A conducted course will be run as well for the Small wheelers.

Thanks for the effort Chris. The list you posted will do nicely!

Thats tough to read!! Anybody able to get a Hi-res copy or transcribe the list.

I'll Update Andy with the latest results. As always results are provisional and Sue makes sure she gets them right. Chris was disappointed with his ride at Dob despite beating all his contempories. It's hard to keep him grounded as He hasn't been riding as long as many of his age group. And as for Young Miss Sunter, I'll complement you on keeping riding when many of YOUR contempories haven't. It's tough to keep riding and combine it with education or a job at your age. I chatted to young Miss Wardle and she'e looking forward to doing more riding now her Hip problem is cleared up. Many Young riders, male and female seem to leave the sport and it's refreshing to hear that despite all the other pressures some are desperate to stay and do well!
-
You must like these 2 lappers! Unless I'm mistaken you did pretty well at Keighley Gate.
-
The Results on www.yeadon-guiseleytrials.co.uk state he was 9th with 2 time penaltys.
-
I can suggest it, Are you in Leeds at the moment?? You could come along to the meeting and see how the land lies.

Terrain
Dob Park Trees Deciduous.
Ground slopes down from the car park. All sections went up the gradiant at some point.
Ground covered in leaves muddy under that. Stream sections had Rocks in or alongside Sections 1 to 4 were in the wood 5 to 8 in the stream. (2 was in a rocky rut)
Browns Wood Mainly Conifers 9-12 and 20. Mixture the rest
Section 9-11 Similar to Dob with heather/needles instead of leaves, but the Gradient was worse Between trees.
Section 12 was a swine. The ground between the rocks was very slippy and Mel Harrison had Mainly 3's and 5's to mark on the "B" course while the rocks gave some grip to the "A" class although even Alex Wigg five'd it first time round.
Section 13 was in and out of a stream with muddy banks which the riders had to get up and ride back down.
14 and 15 were in a stream bed 15 had a left turn and climb to top of bank.
16 17 an 18 Rocky stream sections but without steep banks, climbing up the gradiant.
19 Nasty climb that cut up badly most riders spinning rear wheels.
20 as 9-12
Doesn't convey the trickiness of the sections, or the distance and boggy conditions between 15 and sixteen that caught a few riders out and convinced me to wait at the crossover and walk down to 16 for North Yorkshire Lad.
-
Saw Andy at section 13. He was sweating a bit!! The sections were very spread out in Browns which caused a few Dads, (myself included) a fair amount of huffing and puffing!!! Oh and Andy said that the next section "wasn't that far". I didn't catch up with NYL til the section after!!!

Just for Interest these are the SCORING A & B Nationals this year
Yeadon & Guiseley DMC 19/02
Otter Vale MCC 19/03
Scarborough & Dist MCC 23/04
Kent Y.T.C 04/06
Abergavenny MC 02/07
Richmond MC 27/08
Surrey Schoolboys 01/10
Isle of Wight 14/10
Non-Scoring Rounds.
Cheadle cancelled
Mansfield Maun 28/05
Bradford & District 11/06
EMRA 16/07
I think the idea is WRC style that trials will be "rested" from the Championship and re-installed the next while another is "rested".
-
I am taking North Yorkshire Lad to as many of the "scoring" nationals as are in our area, which are YG on sunday, and later in the year Richmond and Scarborough. My intention was also to go to the Cheadle, Mansfield Maun and Bradford "non-scoring" rounds. It looks like the Cheadle Trial "got away" from me somehow. We shall be at Bradford's non-scoring round as Bradford work hard at making sure their events are publicised on this site, their own and in the TMX. I tried to make sure the Yeadon-Guiseley A& B National regs got publicised via Trialscentral and it looks like the Triple attack (which included the TMX) worked as the entry is very healthly. I can't help feeling that Cheadle needed to work extra hard in order to promote a non-scoring event and failed to do so. Hopefully the publicity will give them the entry they want for the replacement trial and show the value of web sites to clubs.
Hmmmm!!! looked at the Calendar and the Cheadle trial is only down as "The Moorlands Youth Trial" no mention of classes which is probably why I didn't pick it up.
-
It's probably down to confusion over what is and isn't a National at the moment. It isn't a "scoring" A & B National this year so maybe many riders feel it's not worthwhile to enter given the travel involved.
-
If you have any problems with it Andy at Pennine Trialsport did ours and has the seals in. He may also have the Impeller shaft. On our now departed 125 a Washer was missing causing the Impeller to grind away at the seal.
