With plenty of talk on all the forums and at your local trials as to which rule is which thought I might have a crack at this poll thing.

Also hopefully added what you prefer to ride and what you think is the best way forward  no pun intended, for Trials at all levels whether that be competing, observing or sticking the flags in!!!

how about: hop, jump, backwards and set time to complete the section

Can't get it to work either.

BTW time is 10.40 pm and the thread has had 140 views, where are all the other votes? D.

Tried voting but it wont let me

I had to vote in every section to get it to work which kind of defeats the object of voting??? Sorry, I hope that I haven't messed it up.

I voted and in the other 2 boxes marked this will benefit the sport etc. Should work like that.

None of the options reflect the NZ rules ... stopping and hopping allowed, backwards not. Backwards sort of defeats the purpose of having rules ... just reverse and have another go! Still run trials with traditional rules for classic/twinshock. These are clearly designated as using those rules.

might have a crack at this poll thing.

So it dosn't work...........well if you don't have a go you never no..................bit like having a crack at a section

Now if somone is clever enough to do a poll on this we might get some fedback!

The reason I was asking is that I ride trials at several levels (some not so good as others ) and with all the different rules out there you don't know what your riding half the time, yes you could ask the organisers but they say ''we are riding under TSR ???'' well most don't know what this is. So your good ride can turn into a bad result because you have stopped, gone backwards etc. etc.

So the questions I was asking was firstly what rules do you prefer to ride, and secondly which do you think will benefit the sport as these may differ the hoppers and skippers will vote for this syle of sections, but is this the way to continue.

My view and not because I am geting older!!! is No Stop for both answers, easy to ride, easy to observe and anyone new to the sport could pick this up really easy and not get frightened off thinking there is no way I can hop and skip round that section.

I think it is time to get the sport back to a set of rules that are universally acceptable, just an opinion. Any thoughts and if there are any Poll experts out there give it a go! Cheers

Not sure what is like in the rest of the country but the current rules for stop permitted are actually normally observed as

Stop for a while still clean, 5 or 10 secs maybe a 1, 20 secs probably should be a 1, 45 secs observer brave enough to give a 1.

Hop sideways while stationary, very rarely a five

Hop and drift back-wards again very rarely a five.

This can make riding a lottery as the lad who tries to ride by the rules is at a disadvantage to the rider who gambles and gets away with a big hop, balance and slip back-wards as he "cleans" the section you had to dab on to keep it moving.

This no criticism of the observers as marking to the rules will get you no friends at all. Especially if the C of C has marked out some sections that are tight and encourage stopping.

Not sure there is an answer and maybe I am bitter and twisted as I am rubbish at jumping the back wheel all over the place!!!!!!

PS

I like the stop permitted rule, No stop is also OK if sections marked out correctly and the British Champ rules work at that level too.

Here we go again!!!!

It seems when news is in short supply so lets bring up the rules again. What are you hoping to gain by a poll. (that dont work)?

If the rider does not want to ride under the rules of which a club is running a trial dont turn up.

That's the problem bdmc some of the club's and rider's ain't sure what rule's they should be running under, your right though a group of rider's are'nt going to be able to change thing's alone, the only people that can change matter's is the ACU and to be honest im not to inpressed with the way they work on the rule's,there just happy with chucking everyone together and hope for the best.

The only way i can see thing's being happy is for the club's to specialise in either no stop or hopping trial's and state what trial it is on the reg's so we know what we're turning up ,Then you have classic trial's which should mean what it say's.

OK, lets all step back and have a look at this. As far as I know, there are only 2 methods of marking in the UK (I'm not including World Championships as they're something else).

1. TSR 22A

2. TSR 22B

Now, every registerd/licensed rider in the UK gets the ACU Handbook, so turn to page 162 and read the rules.

Every trial should state which rule it's using, from club trials upwards and if the organisers and observers had read the rules there would be little or no confusion!!!!

Seriously it's not rocket science and it's all down there in print.

BTW when you sign on at a trial you are declaring that you have read and understood the NSC, Standing Regs and Supplementary Regs (all in the book) D.

bilco thanks for answering for me I think you 'hit the nail on the head'...I was the first to admit I had a go at posting a Poll and yes it don't work so bring it on 'bdmc' try and do the Poll for us...........

idmcc_sec most of us are intellectual enough to pick up the book and read, which brings me back to the point of how many riders actually know what rules they are riding under on the particular day they sign on whether they have read the rule book or not

I presume both bdmc and idmcc_sec have a lot to do with organising events, Yes we want to ride and if you care to read the questions (Bit like the rule book ;):rotfl: ) I personally think it may be better for the sport to run under one rule.

I have been riding and competing nearly every weekend for over 30 years now and yes this question keeps cropping up, but nowt is done about it, so I guess we shall continue to talk about it as we live in a democratic society!!!

Ah thats better

Well done idmcc, a perfect answer and just what I was thinking all the way through reading the thread.

And as for Jimmy, you wont get away with half a second when I'm observing and as for going backwards - the biggest FIVE possible.
