  2. You’ll find everything but the main shaft in the screenshot. The shaft itself isn’t critical and neither is the length. There’s some guessing involved but close is enough. Just make sure the diameter of the 17mm and 20mm tip is correct. Good luck!
  3. RonH. Now I'm being lazy I know, but what were the dimensions you used?
  4. Here is the generic wiring diagram that is the basis of my thought !!
  5. Hi There, I have done a bit more checking with my trusty multimeter. I have tested the resistance on the hall sensor/pick up coil. It measured 23,5 ohms. But what I do not understand is that I get this reading with one probe of my multimeter on the wire from the sensor and the other probe going to earth. Is this correct? In my simple brain the pulse from the sensor/coil will not go to the CDI, but straight to earth. I have also discovered that the damage to the lighting coil was done by my flywheel puller. Thks Bruce

  7. Not an expert on trials in Scotland but you could maybe try Lothian trials club, they seem oriented towards the beginner. Unfortunately most clubs have more presence on FB than having a proper website these days so you're probably best bet is to contact the clubs on FB. https://www.lothiantrialsclub.co.uk/newpage Some phone numbers there you could try
  8. I assume it is running fine at Idle? What happens when you rev it out in Neutral? What happens when you try and rev out under load/in gear?

  10. This site is back by great demand . By the lack of response to questions etc I am not sure by who. Any way here we are . www.braapscotland.co.uk , https://www.sacu.co.uk>get-involved>starting-trials , https:// themotorcyclingclub.org.uk>the-edinburgh-trial
  11. Hi There, I did notice that , but there is no problem with the strength of the spark, it just seems to be firing at the incorrect time. This points me ( no pun intended ) towards the CDI or the Hall sensor. I think I have a long journey ahead. Chrs Bruce

  14. Looks like you have damage on the lighting coil?, potentially also damage to the ignition or pulse coil or even the damaged lighting coil is affecting the other coils. Have you got the resistance values for the various coils?

  16. Hi ...... a complete newbie to trials here. Just purchased a 2022 Beta 2t EVO 200 ..... putting ink to paper tomorrow. Delivery in a coupl of weeks. I stay in edinburgh and understand that I need to join a local club in order to obtain my SACU membership. I have looked at a couple of facebook pages etc but can't seem to find a way to actually apply for membership to these clubs. Im looking for somewhere thst catets for complete beginners with beginner type trials. Can anyone point me in the right direction. As mentioned, my bike wont be here for a couple of weeks at least but I'd like to pop along in advance and meet some folks and see what goes on. I work away mon to friday ( Orkney ) so weekends would suit best. Many thanksin advance for anybody who can respknd with some suggestions. Cheers toto
  17. Hi guys. Would any of you happen to have a Merlin, who could maybe tell me what the complete part number is on the Kokusan CDI. I do know that Merlin used two systems, Kokusan and Dansi. As you can see from my photo, I only have CU 21. There are more digits or numbers after that. Thks Bruce
  18. I had the same problem. After 3 cracked clutch cases, failed waterpump seal, and a very unstable idling engine all within 10 hours of driving I had enough of it. Although everything was very well taken care of by the dealer i wanted a bike without problems. It was my daughters bike and she couldn't drive for several months or we had to share my trs one 250. So i traded it in for 2024 125 one rr. Flawless, no issues, just driving and cleaning....
  19. I miss my '18 125, never should have traded down for this perpetual problem. Not liking any of my options from this point, fix it, flog it, replace it.

  22. Had this problem in the first month 3 times... Got rid of the 80cc and bought a 125. Never had a problem with 125cc...
  23. Update # 3: Cracked clutch case between the kick starter & fill plug @ 155 hours. Gear box oil everywhere, cutting the ride & the season, short. I am amazed it lasted that long based on others experiences & the # of times I have to kick to light the fire (3-7, cold or warm, in neutral). TRS has "updated " the part for 2026, same part # 03031MT100. KTM part # 47030001100 is interchangeable.
  24. I disagree. He's spoken out numerous times that the FIM's attempts to try and lower the difficulty of trials is not the direction trials needs to go. He's said that outdoor trials need to become more like the indoor events, a show, more dynamic and shorter duration. People listen to that and the WTC has evidently went that way the last couple of years. Does he genuinely believe this or does he want trials to continue on the direction that suits him, so he can win another 40 titles? He's said that kids entering the sport want this modern style of trials and that non stop was outdated. I disagree with everything he says, I think he is very far removed from grass roots trials, and ultimately WTC does have an effect on the sport at grass roots.

  29. Hi thank you. But that engine is coming out as I have the original to replace it. I also have another spare engine. I need original forks for it though if you know of any?
  30. I would suggest moving the kick start lever back to the original vertical position. The moving of the lever more clockwise to give more purchase always ended in disaster as there is a stop built in to the kick start shaft which eventually punched a hole through the crankcase.

  33. Hello. Over 50 years ago I used to watch a guy wash off his montesa cota 247 and thought it was the prettiest bike I’d seen. I now have a 1971 mk cota which I want to rebuild to factory. However what I have is like triggers broom a mismatch of parts from various years and models so it could be a challenge. I’m hoping this resource might help me.

  37. @RonH . Sorry to see you are confused about the fact that some manufacturers tyres/tires are considered to be grippy enough for them to be the choice of top riders and therefore also a club riders choice , but of course when Toni Bou and other top riders start using Ibex/CST/Pirelli or Mitas tyres/tires then those tyres will be proven to be a serious choice for competition and can be added to the list of confusing choices. Hope that this helps you. Best wishes Alan.
