EM (Electric Motion)

Can anyone here elaborate on the operation of the PRBR? Specifically I'm wondering if it could serve as the sole rear brake, my disability makes a right foot brake useless for me. I've found a couple of online reports of experienced riders removing their clutch levers and using the PRBR lever from the non clutch model and in at least one case removing the rear brake pedal. I really can't imagine riding a dirt bike without a clutch but i have no significant experience with electric bikes.

Might be a daft question but are they universal or specific as i see some with the bike type referenced but others not? Which will fit an Epure race 2021? Cheers

Is anyone using S3 Bar Ends on a EPure? I'm trying to figure out which model bar ends to get. #5 or TOO? I guess the question is does the EPure have a closed or open throttle tube?

The S3 Hard Rock footpegs, in orange, work well with the orange accents on the ePure Race.

Not long had my 2022 ePure and have just arrived in Spain to give it a go, somewhat different to my back garden. I have the impression that the bike rolls on somewhat with the throttle closed, whereas in the garden, albeit very flat, I felt as though it always stopped. Is this normal? I did a decoder reset after being advised by a very useful YouTube video but it continues, and any sort of downslope requires braking. Second question is that I have an electric car and charge this with the public charge points some of which have a normal two pin socket, (I live in France), which my charger would fit. Would it be a safe way to recharge? Thanks.

Did an event in Arizona where it rained. Seriously, it rained in Arizona. Dripping wet waiting in queue on second loop about midway through the loop, got a severe jolt in the left hand while soaking glove hand had finger on clutch lever and thumb wrapped around grip. Shock was felt throughout my hand and seemed to exit (enter?) at my thumb. I've done enough work with AC and DC (I'm a sparky), including some medical experiments with DC, that I think this was a real shock event. Meaning I don't think it was some nerve pinch or arthritis related garbage. Sorry if this is the wrong place for this - logically to me it belongs in EM. The only fault I can find with the latest EM bikes is that they are a bit heavier than the ICE alternative. With solid state batteries soon to be a feature of the light car market I wonder if this will be the next development for electric trials bikes? The downside is going to be cost andalready the EM is more expensive than a Montesa or similar, but to be fair not by much. I know some of you might find this funny, given how much 'torque' is supposedly available for electric trials bikes, so bear with me. I'm just getting used to my new EM Pure Race 22, coming from a 2017 Montesa 4RT. I've owned many other brands as well, both 2 and 4 stroke. My initial observations riding the bike for a few hours, is the power comes on much more like a 2T, there isn't a lot of torque way down low, although for sure, there is *plenty* of power. I'm wondering if anyone has experimented with lowering the gearing a little bit more to try and obtain a bit more torque at the bottom end? Missus' 2021 epure race. I fitted a new chain and set it up like every other bike I have ever done - one finger gap between the spring adjuster and the swinging arm. Now it has a squeak - like a dry brake squeak which seems to come from the output sprocket at the motor end. We have both ridden it for a while but it is still there. Brake is fine and has not been touched, not had the back wheel out. No play in wheel bearings or gearbox output shaft as far as I can detect. I have backed the tension off a bit and the noise has gone. Squeak was in time with wheel rotations so it is somewhere or somehow related to that. My guess is a wheel bearing, but there is …

I've just come across an issue with my Domino throttle. After a small inversion that has left the throttle with a minor scar in the plastic (which may be a red herring), it has become sticky. Off the bike or with the clamp screws loose, it is fine. As soon as I start to tighten the clamp screws the self-closing disappears. I've tried packing the clamps with a thin piece of plastic: no good. I've tried tightening the clamp screws with the throttle off the handlebar and it works fine. Any ideas? I'm reluctant to take the throttle apart because of the return spring and the alignment of the gears, but that is looking like it will have to be my next move.

Is there enough slack in the wiring to install taller handlebars? I'm 6'5" (195cm) and an old guy. My back hates being bent over too far and also I have more pressure on the bars than I'd like--I can't get into a relaxed position.

Are there any technical specs on how the EM motor is controlled? Is the throttle just and adjustable resistor? Does that just go to some kind of standard industrial motor controller with programmable parameters? Or is there some type of computer in there as well like similar to a fly by wire gas powered street bike?

the battery life seems to be getting very good with these and i love the idea of practicing in the backyard without annoying anyone. the only issue i could see is if wanting to ride all day the battery would eventually go, and it would be expensive to buy a second one. but seems you can recharge them to 80% capacity very quickly so would be an interesting idea to hook it up to a solar panel over the lunch break. :-)

Our club (XHG Tigers) will host a test day with Inch Perfect at our ground near Poole/Bournemouth. Date (unless everything goes wrong) is planned for 9th August. We will put a practice trial on as well so you can have a ride if you bring your own bike. Last weekend threw up a problem on my 2023 ePure Race. After about 2 hours of practice riding I returned to my car and parked up. A few minutes later I was going to take the lazy way out and ride the bike round in a circle to load up. However I couldn't, because every time I attached the lanyard I got the beeps that say "You've got some throttle on so I'm not going to let you select a map." I fiddled with the lanyard and the throttle, switched off and on, but nothing solved it so I pushed the bike. I've just bought an ex-school 2023 ePure Race from Inch Perfect. It looks beautiful and I'm generally very happy with it, but like any secondhand (or even new) bike there are one or two things to sort out. I'm not impressed with the way the TKO switch is mounted. It's awkwardly inaccessible and is mounted on a curved bit of frame tube so it doesn't fit well. As a consequence mud and water can get into the back of the switch, which has happened. I'm thinking of putting it on the handlebars instead. Has anyone else tried that? It would require a two wire extension about 1 metre long (I haven't measured it yet) with male and female connectors. Is it possible to charge an EM off an inverter from a car? Anyone know specification of the charger? Is there an optional charger that might be plugged into a running vehicle?

I'm tempted to buy a new 2022 EM and see they have a couple trials models. I have ridden an epure race and liked it but am not sure I would ever use the clutch. Has anyone ridden the other model with traction control? Is the traction control useful? I'm no beginner but no expert either?

I have now been riding an EM for 4 years but there are still things I think could be done better, and I'm wondering if they are possible. I would like to have a little bit of "engine braking" when the throttle is closed. If I understand correctly, this would be a straight bolt-on if I could get the right finger throttle. It could replace the present PRB-R (2023 bike) and the 0.8 volt would provide the engine braking.
