Hi all F1 has struggled to keep going and made many changes to keep Teams and sport alive. Trials or the FIM should take a look at this. Here's some suggestions or topics areas for trials: Maximum engine displacement of 250 cc Minimum weight of 155 lbs at tech inspection - 70 kgs Minimum seat height of 30 inches FI, programmable and 2 or 3 map ignitions banned - (have you ever priced this stuff out?) Production models must be used in competition by world round riders. results: - a bike that the public can better identify with much lower manufacturing costs and R&D sections difficulty will have to adapt to lower power and heavier bike. (world level) low…

Hey, All!!! Have a weird question here. Let me preface it with this: My 2010 Gas Gas 280 Pro was being ridden by a newbie a few afternoons ago (not me; a true "Trials Bike Newbie), and got crashed. It was a loopout from doing a wheelie that went terribly bad. Fortunately, the rider wasn't hurt in the least. He has a strong "self preservation gene" , and just basically threw the bike away.Myself, I'd have sacrificed my body somewhat to minimize damage to the bike, but that's probably because I have dominant stupidity gene...... Anyway, my bike's airbox, rear fender, and silencer/midbox portion of the exhaust are all trashed. This is turning out to be an expensive cra…

The switch to ally frame trials bikes seems to of been reversed recently with round section tubular steel frames ala gasgas/ossa being the new trend. Are these latest steel frames lighter than ally or comparable weight but being more compact allow for a neater overall package. (or is it cost against weight saving) Inquisitive engineer in me asking the question

I bought a new pair of Novogar trials boots last July and to my disapointment I have wore a hole through the sole. The hole is about 20 mm x 30mm and located on the righthand boot instep. Has anyone had a pair of boots resoled or should i bite the bullet and buy a new pair maybe just use these in the dry months ? I think at

Right, Im rebuilding a 1993 GasGas. (but been in a box for 2-3 years) Its my first Monoshock trials bike. Being only 20 and at uni i have only had a couple of old vintage trials bikes which were cheaper and simplier. Anyway, its in a box and im rebuilding it, but im alittle miffed to what in the engine i should rebuild. From taking the barrel apart What i planned was : -New piston and rings -Bore rechrome -little end bearing -big end bearing ? But.... What else should i change?? the GB was alright. The clutch plates did have alittle drag, but nothing serious. Do i change -The conrod -The main bearings?? -Gearbox bearings?? Is there anything else that i …

Hi All, I may possibly come across as a bit crackpot here, but bear with me... Does anyone have any thoughts or experiences of electric trials bikes (apart from kids/ OSET bikes)? Without letting on too much, I am seriously considering a development of a full-sized adult trials bike with Electric power? Why the heck would I want to do this? Well, sooner or later, like it or not, it will become harder to purchase and use conventional trials bikes. Certainly, noise issues near my home in Cambridge have all but ruled out practice as we are so easily upset these days. A trials bike isn't particularly loud, but it hangs around in one area so becomes irritating. Where I li…

hey all starting to get a bit annoyed with the amount of posts saying how major championship sections consist of to many big steps. Hearing these have made me think - what is trials. It is all about crossing the most difficuilt terrain and keeping utmost control over the motorcycle. Doesn't big steps fit under one of them category's. Trying to make less of them would remove something from the sport. Another point is why have none stop rules. Isn't balancing the most important part of trials? to be able to balance on a bike is a key factor though riders are not aloud to do so in a section. How about setting an easyly achieved time limit in each section. just saying my …

Some of you guys could help me out a bit if you will. I have decided to convert my trail bike to a trials bike, so I ordered new fenders and am fabricating my own front fork mounting brackets. The bike originally came with a 2.75 x 21 Bridgestone tube type tire on it, but that one is long gone. What I need to know is what is the overall width of some of the2.75 x 21" trials tires out there now.? The tire on my front right now is a 3.00 x 21 knobby, so it is almost touching the inside of the new fender .I think the trials tire will be a bit narrower, but different brands are different sizes even though they all say 2.75" x 21" or what ever. I need the measurem…

  19. im looking at buying a trials bike. i used to ride bike trials a lot a few years ago and some motorcycle trials. i now live in Canada with lots of amazing places to ride. so im looking for a new bike. unfortunately there are no shops local to me with any bikes in stock, so whatever i buy will be sent to me. i can get a gas gas txt pro 290, sherco 2t 290 or a beta evo 2t 290 all for the same price. $8000 CAD. but which one? ive heard the gas gas is great but needs lots of maintenance. some people say Beta's are better made than sherco.. others lover shercos.. im looking for reliability, and a good bike that i can take up into the mountains and ride a lot. what do y…

If you were designing a new bike, what would you change from the ones avalible today? I'd like to see a water proof fresh air vent near the headstock for example. A sliding shock mount (or different holes with a pin) to vary the stiffness of the shock. Better and easier filter maintenance. More grease fittings. Better adjustablity for handle bars and footpegs. The things I like on the ones I see are...... Sherco's see through tank. Betas linkless shock. Tell us what you would design and what features you like on different bikes.
