I'm planning to convert a Hiro 125 engine from the end of the 70's into a trial engine. Why? Who knows! The engine has six speeds and a reed valve. It's from an Ancillotti 125 moto cross bike. I have the Ancillotti frame too but it's too heavy and wide to converted into a trial frame. So the frame would be some monoshock (or twinshock) trial frame. Any opinions, advices, ideas etc.?

I'm freshening up the engine from my 87' garelli as been as it's never been touched since new, and not sure wether to have the cylinder replated or have a steel liner pressed in instead??? Originally the hiro engines have a plated bore!! What do people think about this???

I have a TY250 that I planed on doing a disk brake conversion on, so today a buy a complete 1988 Beta Tr34 with a dead motoplat[no spark] was going to take the wheels and brakes off of it but i get to lookin at this bike and it is in really decent shape, as good as my TY anyways. i start thinkin maybe I should get a stator for this bike and ride it. I guess I could always find another front wheel for the TY. Had a beta Techno and it was a nice bike but Ive never ridden the tr34. Anyone else ride a TR34?

I have the chance to pick up one of these bikes but know nothing about this model. I seem to be missing the gap between the 349 wich I owned and the 310 wich was much more like the modern cota. Are spares easy to get? Did they send very many to the U.S.? i just picked up an old TY250r mono thats in good shape and has had many of that periods mods already done. Maybe I should pick up the cota and sell the TY. Thoughts anyone?

Hi all. Just wondering what year they stopped making twinshocks and started making aircooled mono's. Or did the 2 types overlap for a while?

Hi,I have recently bought a TY250 mono as an introduction into motorcycle trials, I decided to rebuild the bike from scratch and upon stripping the engine it has thrown up some interesting modifications which I hope someone could enlighten me on. The piston is I've been told is an IT 175 at 66.5mm diameter, the rod is different, Its a 214 but possibly same length as standard. The barrel is 10mm shorter than standard and the crank throw is shorter at around 63.5 in length. There seems to be quite a decent porting job in the barrel as well. It also has a lightened flywheel. The frame no is 15. Someone told me this is an early conversion by John Shirt to build a more revvy m…

Just bought a 1989 gas gas 250, it needs a bit of tlc but not sure where to get them, I need fork seals and the front brake caliper is seized so may need a new one ( brembo), also general items such as air filter, brake pads and also is there a parts of service manual out there for this type of bike. Any help would be great, tried main gas gas dealer but dont seem interested.Anton

Apologies for another which bike question but as most of the bikes are now nearly at least 20 years old it's a bit difficult to go out and have a go on all of them. I ride as many of the traditional trials championsip as I can on my modern bike, but as I am a long way off 40 I am restricted to a few rounds. I really enjoy the series so am thinking of getting an air cooled mono to have a go at the rest of the series. Common sense says I should go for a pinky, but are they really as competitive as one of the last aircooled monos with front and rear discs etc like a Fantic 245. I used to have a 245 and struggled for grip but I thought something like a 205 would be a g…
