I stand corrected on my interpretation of the rules, or at least my belief in what the rules said. AMA supplemental rules for observed Trials 2005 edition (same as 2004) which both TI and STRA follow, and which can be viewed at the AMA directlink site state under 6,b,4 Definition of a "failure" or 5 "The rider does not have both hands on the handlebar when footing while stationary." The 3rd annual CAMELOT trial was this last weekend. Your's truely is trying to rename it "The Soggy Bottom Trial" Some folks are trying to get the event moved to later in the year because we could really use the rain in the dryer months. This event is held in the tropical rain forest known as Clarksville, Tn. Section 1 started early, just before you parked your vehicle or unloaded your bike. It was a slight uphill mud bog and I saw many observers lending a hand. Surprisingly the section I checked (Son of a Ditch ll?) stayed fairly consistant through out the day. Hi trials riders, I live in southeast Wi 400 miles South of Duluth and would like to welcome anyone wanting to take a break from their trip either coming or going to the WTC a place to stop. We have a nice grassy area by farm pond and woods to camp and a pretty nice stadium trials practice area even an indoor riding spot . WOTA is holding a training day June 11 and a Dist 16 trials the 12th at our farm ,so if you want to really extend your vacation stop and help set up mid week and then ride the trials . The Border War of 05 is just around the corner. 30 April and 1 May 05. Looking forward to seeing everyone out there. I want to apologize to all the TC readers on the lack of photos and full results for the Texas National. I'll give TC readers a much more complete view of rounds # 3 and 4 next week in Tennessee. Anyhow, here are a few excuses. I didn't take the camera on the loop trial this weekend, my back pack was full of water to keep our team hydrated. Wi-Fi Internet access seems spare in Texas. High gusty winds up to 45 miles an hour caused dust storms. ( Ah, the perverbial weather report. ) All my batteries went dead, our generator was working at half voltage. I'm looking for 2 guys to work my section (well, Mitch Mansker is section captain this year, so technically it's not -mine-) at the world round. 1 day each (then the other day they can observe). The ATA will be hosting the final round of this season's events at Reed Valley this Sunday. Plonkers will be hosting the final party of the points series and it will not be one to be missed. Rather than wait until next season, I've decided to compete on my new Gas Gas. I opted for the Raga replica due to the lighter weight. I have noticed that the extra strength I've had to use to maneuver the trustworthy Montesa around has given me much more endurance when riding the Gasser therefore I'm able to maintain higher energy levels through the end of the trial. This has been brewing for a while, but the flights are now finally booked. Trials Central is going international and I'm delighted to say I'll be in Duluth this year with the intention of giving coverage at least equal to, if not surpassing, the extensive coverage I give to the UK and more local International events I attend.
