I just started competing in observed trials this year. Although the word "compete" is a bit of a stretch for my feeble skills. My bike is a Bultaco Model 98 Alpina with a Sherpa T slimline tank/seat, aka the Sherpina. I've ridden a total of three trials so far. The first two events were modern trials. At the first one, the sections were way over my head and I had a solid lock on last place when my kick-start lever fell apart resulting in a DNF. At the second, the sections were much easier and I did a little better despite having issues with a clogged fuel tap. Even beat a couple of modern bikes. Those guy must really suck! The Rhode Island Trials Club Presents The New England Vintage Trials Championship on Saturday, September 22, 2007. This event will again be in Exeter, Rhode Island - The site of the 1975 World Round. You will be riding the some of the same sections ridden by Malcom Rathmell, Yrjo Vesterinen, Martin Lampkin, and Mick Andrews. Hi to everyone,i am from Melbourne Australia and i am in the process of restoring a 64 Dot trials bike fitted with a 250cc alloy barrell, i need new piston rings or a piston for it. The piston is 66 +20 with a stepped top ring. Can anybody put me onto somebody who can supply these parts?? I have been doing a goole search ,,but finding it hard to find anyone who supply these parts. Thanks Peter

September 23rd 2007 is the date for the Twinshock Trials enthusiast. The Wye Valley Auto Cub will be running a traditional road road based trial dedicated to Twinshock trials motorcycles. The trial will be run over a 30 mile loop taking in 12 groups, using 30 observed sections. Using many of the old Wye Valley Traders Groups in the area,plus new groups the organisers have managed to secure. The organisers are hoping to attract some of the riders of the Twinshock era from the 70s and 80s as well as many of the regulars of todays Twinshock scene. The trial will have two routes, so riders who take part in the ACU classic series and the Sammy Miller serieswill be catered…

Just coming home from Donner Pass. For those of you who didn't know there was a two day vintage trials down there. on the acu web site there is a section for trials, under this you get a list of all the championships. If I click on the classic championship I get the ladies tables, is it just me?? i have written to the acu on there contact us link but typical acu no responce to me or the site. anyone have any other links to get to the championship positions.

We have just had our Montesa Cota 349 (1983 model i think) clutch off to replace all of the plates. However on fixing it back together I have found there is a lot of play. The cogs all line up however there is a 3 legged plate which sits onto the clutch itself, which when the clutch lever is pulled, should be pressed into and therefore make the clutch work. But this 3 legged thing presses up against the nut which holds the clutch on rather than the clutch plates and when everything is fixed together the lever doesnt disconnect it. Its as if the clutch should be sat further out (yet it meets the cogs at the back correctly) I have had it apart a few times now and everyt…

I just got the most modern bike in my stable a 1990 Fantic 307. Are these bikes any good? I know nothing about them. Up until now I have classic machines in my collection. So far I like the bike but my wife likes it even better so I get little time on it. Any one out there have one? Hi All Am looking for anyyyyyyyyyy information , pics , details etc etc on my dream bike , a Sammy Miller Hi-Boy framed Bultaco 250 , I was riding the Ossa MAR 250 at the time this machine was launched and always promised myself I'd try to find one before I got too old .... well am nearly that age so the search is on ... any news great greatfully received ! Anyone have a suggestion for buying all the bits and pieces for making your own, very high quality, controll cables? I have a need to create my own cables for some custom bike projects but everyone I contact wants me to send them my old cables and they will build a new one from it. I have no old cables to send. In fact no cable exists for these bikes. Thats why I just want parts. Any info. would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Aaron

i have just returned form watching the Reliance trial in the hills above buxton derbyshire. what a trial, it remeinded me of trials 30 years ago. any of you lads out there ride in it??
