I figure it is good to post here once a year or so to let people know Canada is still riding trials. I didn't see much coverage on here for the TdN so this should get 2 birds with one stone. Tossed together a clip from most of the sections ... the guys thought it was a great learning experience and Canada will be sure to be back next year!

Haven't posted for a while but given these interesting times figured I would share our event from this past weekend. Given that the border between Nova Scotia and New Brunswick is closed (because of the Covid virus) we ended up holding an event in each Province and combining the scores. Not ideal but hopefully the border will open soon and the rest of our events can be held with riders from both provinces in one location. The weather was fantastic in both locations and the sections were really amazing - you know you can clean them but end up dropping a points but feeling you will clear it next time. We had 6 sections but rode them in both directions so counted them as 12.…

The 29th running of the Outlaw Trial, takes place this weekend at Scotch Creek. BC - hosted by the Shuswap riders, and sanctioned by the WTC ( World Trials Canada) - There are classes for Vintage and Kids on Saturday, followed by the Modern bikes on Sunday. - Free camping on site.

SOVT has another full slate of events scheduled for 2016. Events feature classes for both vintage (1990 and earlier) and modern (>1990 +/or liquid cooled) bikes. Events are held using classic sections and rules with the main focus on just having fun. Well another great year in the Maritimes After 3 years of putting on 3 day indoor shows in March we decided to give it a rest this year. It was kind of nice not having to worry about it and I had a great trip to BC to do a bit of skiing and see some of the West coast (I even had a chance to see some Trials riding on Vancouver Island. We typically have our big training weekend with Jonathan in the spring but the spring didn't work out this year for Jonathan (but he was able to get over to the SSDT for another top Canadian finish). The annual Adrian Brown memorial Trial, was held in OK Falls BC on October 18th - Adrian was a popular member of the Trials group in the Okanagan Valley, and had a wonderful sense of humor. - Unfortunately we lost him way to soon to Cancer at age 50 when this was discovered on a visit to his London UK home in 2001. - His local club in the UK was the Bognor Regis and this year, his parents sent out a special plaque to display at this yearly event which is all about raising money for Cancer research. We are happy to report that we collected $890.00 for this worthy cause, but more importantly we shared a lot of good memories of Adrian around the camp fire.

Early reports in from the club trial today at the Victoria Motorcycle Clubs Rick Wells memorial trial are that local legend Ryon Bell came out of retirement officially today, and once again put a stamp on the fact that he is the best trials rider Canada has ever produced. Demolishing the competition in what was a pretty easy event. Full results and scores to come. Congrats to Ryon, so great to see him back riding.

Really exciting news for trials riders in Canada and north eastern US. The CMA has secured the services of the amazing Alexandre Ferrer and his minder, Mederic Delannoy. Ferrer will be in eastern Canada, sharing his knowledge of solid basic, modern techniques, as well as the skills that have made him one the best riders in the sport today. Hi All, Just wanted to thank everyone that came out and supported trials riding in 2014. Special thanks goes to NSORRA, WTC, RPM Cycle, Beta Atlantic, NSDSC, The Outdoor Show, Jonathan English and all the riders that made the year a ton of fun. We had a great turnout for the outdoor show this year and I think the head to head competitions were a hit with both the riders and the thousands of spectators. Every year we have put on a different type of show and have a bunch of fun during these 3 day indoor events. Now we just need to dream up something for 2015. The training day with Jonathan English was sold out early and for good reason. Just watching a pro level rider…

What an Awesome day!!! 9 sections 4 laps new record number of sections for us . 11 riders out today we seem to grow by a couple of riders each event... it may not seem like a lot but it was only a few years ago we only had 4 or 5 riders locally now we are over 25 (even if they don't all make it to events) it is great to see the numbers growing. Looking to have 4 events next year + training session and a 3 day indoor demo at the outdoor show.

Its now been finalized, that the 2014 CMA National Trials Championships will be held in Victoria BC Sept 27-28 at the private club grounds of the Victoria Motorycycle club. The VMC is one of the oldest clubs in Canada with records dating back to 1912. The clubs property has 162 acres of some of the most pristine trials riding in North America! Much more info will be available shortly, including Pre-entry. VMC is proud to hold these Nationals, sanctioned by the CMA which is the only National sanctioning body recognized by the FIM. It has been almost 20yrs now since the club held its first National in this same location, back in 1985. Stay tuned for more info!

Today we had our second event for the year (of 3). It was a fantastic day, sunny and about 23 degrees ©. I had spent 3 days earlier in the week setting out, building the sections and just had the start and end gates and any last minute changes left to do. Fellow riders had helped me out but even with 2 or 3 people it is hard to gage if things are going to be too tough or not tough enough (leaves you thinking about it in the middle of the night). I had a pretty good idea who was coming so we decided on 3 difficulty levels (we had typically been just using 2 levels). This Sunday, August 17th, the Saskatchewan Flatland Trials Association will be crossing the border into Manitoba, to bring Trials back, to a once great Trials community in Canada. In 1992 one of Canada's last FIM, World Championship Trials was held in the province of Manitoba. It was hosted by the Take 5, Trials Club, an enthusiastic group of riders and organizers. Shortly after hosting there biggest event ever, the club would be exhausted and disappear from the Canadian landscape. In 2009, the CMA, would recognize the request of a small core group of Trials riders in the neighboring province of Saskatchewan, Canada. This was a milestone move, as Trials events had nev…
