Looking for help on a replacement flywheel for a 1966 MK2 Matador 250, the bike came to me in parts... crates of them, picked from the original 'restorer'. The flywheel in the pile is a FEMSA VAR 41-9 that is cracked at the rivets & has at least 3/16" rotational play. Anyone know what FEMSA part number flywheel should be on this bike? Suspect the VAR 41-9 may be another model, as I have a mod 26 in the pile of parts!

Hi all, I brought a new fibreglass seat unit from Inmotion. Having cleaned it up where it fits around tubes etc. It appears to be too wide.A pal and work colleague reckons the same and say that he had to cut his in half and remove a lump to make it fit nicely. Is this normal with this unit ? Fibreglass isn’t my thing and the thought of doing this is rather scary. But I want it to fit well. thanks, Andy

I can get m3.5 nipples in plated brass from Sweden . Trouble is the minimum UPS delivery is £17 . The spokes cost £18 for 36 . On top our rotten customs and post office are going to want to extort further . might be worthwhile if the delivery cost was spread among a few people in UK .

Hi, Bought a 350 Sherpa to restore, but a change of job means I won't have the time. Can anyone recommend someone who restores old bikes (apart from the obvious dealers), preferably in the Midlands area? Cheers,

I've just collected my 199A frame, swinging arm and sidestand leg from being powder coated. Firstly the colour is RAL5015 or as near as makes no odds and secondly, the firm who did it have made a superb job. Strip, wash, mask, phosphate and powder coat, all for around £120. I'll add some photos when it's finished, but if you need a good powder coater, try Steve or Gaz at Fast Line in Preston, 01772 563550. No, i've no connection, I'm just pleased that I've found somewhere to do this in the North of England! I also had a bottle silencer off a 500 Triumph done in gloss black. Coating is no good on the down pipe (too hot) but it should be fine on the silencer. I hope …

Anyone help on this one, I have a 198a with an unstamped engine that works fine (but looks like someone has taken the number off deliberately!) found a pair of similar numbered engine "198a" casings to match the frame number, started stripping the unstamped engine that fits into the frame fine and just wondered before I get carried away if all the internals will fit into the "a" engine? I am told that some of the internals are slightly different but not to sure which ones. I think I need a shorter kick start shaft and a slimmer outer casing if anyone can help. Also is it good practice to change all bearings as there is 2 on one side and 1 on the other. Thanks

Rebuilt the top end of my 159 engine this weekend but not happy with the fit of the Aluminium thrust washers with the small end. In my spares I have thrust washers with both a large recess and a smaller recess (flange). I assume this fits over the end of the small end bearing which is a single 20mm bearing. On the first couple of fits the gudgeon pin seemed to push the small-end bearing deeper into the thrust washer allowing one of them to fit loosely on the gudgeon pin with no contact on the small-end. Is my reasoning correct that the small end should fit the recess/flange on the washers and that they should both be tight with contact on the small end? This wou…
