Montesa

Hello My hydraulics on my 1997 model 315 need attention and i was wondering what the best options were for parts. The fluid has leaked from the system. I saw no sign of wetness at the back of the master cylinder so i think it must be from the seals in the slave as i did see fluid inside there on removal....or was that gearbox oil ? Looking at the Montesa 315 parts list it lists 3 types of master cylinder for the bike ...97 year. 98-2000 and 2001-2004 Only the late model cylinder is still available new. Doesn't look like a piston kit is available for the 97 year either. Are the later model clutch masters interchangeable with the system or are they different for some r…

Hi looking for some help with the refitment of my 315 clutch plates, I know i have to alternate between the friction plates with the steel plates, But the cofusion starts with the diffrents between the cork type plates and the paper type,,,,Is there a correct procedure,,, do you use all the cork type first, and finish with the paper type? or mix them up? Thanks in advance, clay

Hi. I've recently bought a 315r. It's been suffering with bad clutch drag which I've now sorted with a new clutch pack, master and slave orings, elf oil and all bled up and working perfectly. When removing the clutch slave to inspect the piston and orings I found a pool of fluid inside, initially I thought the piston orings were passing fluid, so they were changed for genuine parts. Since fixing the clutch I've had another look inside the slave cylinder to find another pool of fluid, im presuming this is gearbox oil passing through the hole which the push rod is inserted. So my question is, is it normal for for a small amount of oil to pass through the pu…

I set about removing the old ht lead on my 2000 315, with the intention of replacing it. It was difficult to twist off at the coil end. Assuming it had been siliconed in, I gave it a good dose of brute force and it broke. It looks like the lead was glued into the coil. Before I spend many more hours of my life trying to poke the bits out, does anyone know if the lead and coil were a one piece assembly and I'm wasting my time, or is it a conventional reusable item with a screw probe that winds in to the ht lead ?

Hello All, Has anybody got any experience of problems with the electrics on later 315's? I've got an 04 that has done nowt, but whenever it gets warm the plug just fouls and it cuts out..!! I've checked everything you'd consider and still it has this issue....I'm starting to wonder whether it may be a sparking issue? Any suggestions greatly received!! Thanks,

Morning all, Bought a 97 315 the other day with a top end rattle, seems all pretty original. Managed to source a barrel, piston and rings from ebay which is in good condition. Replaced the little end bearing, gaskets etc etc. Put it all back together and the rattle from the top end has seemed to have gone, but now i can seem to hear a noise but not sure where from, just doesnt sound quite rite. Pulled the cover off and had a pull and play with the flywheel and doesnt seem to have any play in it. The big end on the conrod didnt seem to have any play in it also. So.....Just wondering what it could be? is there anything else that seems to make th…

Hi all, How hard is it to change the crank seals on a '98 315? Can I do it with the engine in situ, or is it a crankcase splitting job? Thanks!

Hello My 04 315 has been cutting out on me recently. Its always at the end of the ride on the way home, when i ride maybe a mile on the flat. It wont re-start if i try and kick it straight away so have to let it sit for a while then it seems to run fine. Today it did it about 3 times on the way home though and was running worse every time. I going to try and figure it out tomorrow but any tips would be a great help. Thanks wix

........whats the best way to do it please? I need to buy a new silencer so I reckon now's the time to clean everything else up. The front pipe is straightforward enough of course, but how are we cleaning the inside of the mid box? Also, are there any alternatives to the orginal silencer, and are they worth it? Cheers Rob

I have got a flat carbon kevlar tank, like what Doug had on his. The tank won't sit down flat as it touches the spark plug, I presume they had a shorter plug. Does anyone know the plug type and where I can get hold of one.

Not strictly a Montesa question, but I’m running a Showa 315 front end in my RTL so I can have some affordable front pads. I noticed when I washed the bike yesterday that the yoke / forks seem to be slightly raked compared to the frame header; i.e. not parallel. So I compared to my sons Scorpa 20 and my 2015 4RT which seems to have parellel forks to yokes. Which I assume mean parellel yokes / fork clamps. Do later Montesa’s have parellel yokes / fork clamps? If so does anyone know from what year 315? jstbwondering if it’s a function of the frame header rather than the fork yokes.
