  1. I agree.. Looked awesome to me.. also, the talent of team Repsol Montesa HRC may have had something to do with it Certainly a good advert for 4 strokes.. Hope Caby rides the 4T next year! Great event and was a good laugh at the Trialscentral's tent Nice to have met you all Note for Andy , Talking about Raga's a***, the missus was transfixed by the polish rider Blazusiak's a*** as he was wearing a G string! ( so she says ) Made her day that did Also, Thanks to the 4 lads who gave me a push to start my car on sunday as left the door ajar and the battery went flat
  2. Those 4RT's certainly did the business. Dont know what they done to them but they are certainly in a different league to the ones I have seen so far.. Also, love that bark they make too They also seemed to be more suited to the terrain as I'm sure they were flying up them banks with more punch than the 2 strokes. Dont know if anyone else noted that??? I was stood at section 7 for the first round and when Fujinami went through it looked awesome. Good advert for 4 strokes that was
  3. In my humble opinion, that is the most important comment I have read in this thread and the one that needs urgently addressing. Just out of interest, I went round my 28 employees and asked them if they knew who Dougie Lampkin was. Only 3 out of the 28 (less than 10%) did and that was because they are motorbike enthusiasts, I asked them, if they knew who Juan Pablo Montoya was and 22 of them did ( 76%). He’s only won half a dozen or so races in the last few years, not 12 World Titles!!! Just look at this website for formula one http://www.formula1.com/ look at archives etc ... its all there and extremely well presented.. Now compare the difference with my centres ACU site http://www.midwalesacu.co.uk/index.htm Now this is in no way an attempt to put down the ACU site but the difference is obvious. Formula 1 has huge amounts of Dosh, Trials doesn't and the difference is in the marketing of each sport! Trials needs a Bernie Ecclestone. IMHO
  4. of course... Its the only name that can afford him although Id love to see him ride the 4T with Cabestany too
  5. Gotta agree with yer there mate. Caby rides that bike like he was born on it..
  6. Did you try the 4t ? Much more power available
  7. Nope! I reckon between the 290 and the 4T, its easier in the mud on the 4T. But, thats my opinion.. like to hear from a more experienced source.!
  8. I got a Sherco 4T and have been told to use smoooth throttle and no blipping. After trying it, it certainly helps and grips better than the 290 I had before. IMHO
  9. Theres a bit of work to do setting up the program on your comp like producing the custom sort lists and creating the custom Macro buttons and then building the database of your clubs riders names & details ( although you can do this as you go along ) I can provide details on how to do this with the spreadsheet.. But its best that I talk you through it using MSN Messenger.. My MSN is viciouss@mods-r-us.net . If your currently typing in all the data and doing manual sorts and stuff like that. This will save you loads of time and when set up, is easy to use. feel free to contact me
  10. That is one awesome Machine that is.!! Woah.. In fact theres TWO of them!! O, by the way.. great truck too Howard
  11. You just answered your own question! Oil pressure fed systems are a must for racing engines. Not the case for a Trials bike engine where for most of its time, its hovering around 1500 rpm . Now can you stop going on about the virtues of the 4RT's pressure fed system vs the 4T I believe that the 4 stroke running hotter is an illusion to a certain degree. The temperature in the combustion chamber would be similar to other engines.( I will research this) After all, maintaining a consistent temperature will aid the efficiency and performance of the engine and this must be in mind at design stage. If the barrel was overheating then the water would boil but this doesn’t happen. What you do experience is that the engine in general is hotter on the outside due to more moving parts ,its thermal mass being much more than a 2 stroke and the fact that heat is not dissipated fast enough.( as mentioned above in another post ) a greater surface area to allow for heat dissipation would help (like air cooled fins. ) although air is a bad conductor of heat. Water is much better having the highest thermal conductivity of any liquid. IMHO
  12. Interesting comment Woody. Why did you buy a 4RT bearing in mind so much negativity was being spouted about it. It does seem that people are too willing to condemn either through jealousy, prejudice or ignorance. The only thing that does is put people off the sport. Im happy with my 4T and your happy with your 4RT. Couldn't give a damn what anyone else thinks to be honest.
  13. Not 4 strokes per se, just the 4T . Often by people practicing sciolism I welcome the use of fuel injection and hope they develop it for future generations of Sherco's. After all, electronic fuel injection is tried and tested technology since the 1980's. Hardly anything new there. but saying that, the carb works fine and its all technology we know. Goes without saying.. and to date.. I have no reason to believe the 4T isnt just that. Sure was a good trial. Yellow route was spot on . It was damn hot on the top though I can tell ya.. Poor ol' Inky & Kirsty observing up there .. Matrys to the cause bless em
  14. Are you 100% certain that sherco and not using an internal oil pump?
  15. Only extreme because it was tuned for racing. Consider a toned down version. ! The engines are very light, lots of power and smooth delivery. Even less moving parts than a 2 stroke! why not develop one for a trials bike? sorry, I know its off topic, back on topic now
  16. One other key factor in heat generation is the cylinder compression ratio. ! If its high then a significant amount of heat is generated just in compressing the gases. Try taking a cycle pump and pumping it a few times in free air. then close of the end and pump it. The heat that you feel is mostly the friction of the gases being compressed (With some piston friction also of course) Also, the extra force also places a greater load on the bearings which in turn, increases the level of friction again generating more heat. Obviously then, if you minimise friction, you have a cool engine
  17. Nice to see your a 4 stroke fan so you cant be all that bad The 2 stroke engine is still a remarkable engine.. but for sheer design, the best engine has got to be the ****el rotary engine ( except for the rotor tip wear). Would like to see what one of them could do in a trials bike.. They rev till they blow! Edit: Lol.. posted this then noticed that Dr Felix had his name bleeped out if you want to see an animation of a rotary engine then type this link in http://www.keveney.com/****el.html replacing the four * with the correct word as this forum edits it out.
  18. Ive had from new 2 problems with my 4t. One which was resolved quite quickly and one which is getting sorted. The first being the fault with cables coming from the generator being too tight and chaffing on the sharp edge of the casing. Thats been replaced and smoothed off and now no problems. To be fair, this shouldnt of happened as its obvious to any engineer this would be a problem! The other is the starting... However im a lot better at it now than when I first got it. A decent bit of instruction from Sherco in the form of a comprehensive Handbook wouldnt have gone amiss!! Otherwise the bike has been faultless in all respects AND a very enjoyable bike to ride. My wife worked for a peugeot dealer for 2 years and the amount of faults on new cars was staggering. I know theres more to go wrong on a car but we are talking about a HUGE company with HUGE resources! My only gripe is the lack of a decent Handbook and Manual. After all CE certification that I have to follow when I design a machine that gets shipped to spain requires a full and comprehensive manual in the local language to comply! Why doesnt trial bikes have to comply when they are shipped here?

ahh, that be the curse of MSN Messenger Peeps is short for people
  20. http://www.trialrace.com sell stuff. You can use the google translate feature to read it in english. I looked at some gaerne boots and it says to buy stuff , email direct to trialrace@trialrace.com Cant find anyway of buying stuff from http://www.toptrialteam.it/ sorry !
  21. if your refering to the italian site http://www.toptrialteam.it/ then No. Its just a basic flash site. I'm bemused at to what you think you can buy there
  22. Hmmm. Have you tried that with your Windows operating system ?
