  1. Nice looking bike that is.. Scorpa will get some serious street cred with this machine if it runs like it looks.
  2. I got that a few times when I first got the 4T. But since i upped the tickover to around 1200 rpm it hasnt happened since.
  3. I rode most of that day in first and second gear except sections 1 & 3 which was in third.( Section 2 I rode in second btw) . Didnt lose much grip at all and had the best ride I have ever had in muddy conditions. I know for a fact that I wouldnt have done so well on my 290. To answer your question, In the dry I use 1st when i would have used 2nd on the 290. In the wet, I normally go up a gear and any banks to go up which are wet, I would use 3rd. 4th gear is too much of a step up and Sherco may need to look at this for the 06 model. Ishy, Funny you should say that as that is what I worked out too Today, I striiped the carb down and cleaned it out and found it to be spotless. But what I did do when I put it back together, was leaving the airbox off, I tried to restart it and it wouldnt go. As soon as I blocked the air intake with my hand, it fired then went on the next kick. I aslo noticed some significant blowback through the carb also and this maybe whats causing the problem of starting it. what do you think?
  4. On a trial I attended yesterday which was very slippery , There was mine and another 4t running. We both had problems restarting the bike if it was dropped ont its side.. The carb flooded and took a while to get it going. Once running, all fine again! If i stop the bike normally, it nearly always starts again on the first compression stroke. Any ideas on how to stop this? ( dont say dont fall off it ) will the Flatside carb be an improvement?

Theres a good review from Steve Saunders in the Trialsworld magazine on the 4T thats a good read.. O and BTW, I like the 4rt I just like the 4T better
  6. The carbs not very expensive but I was interested to know if it made a significant difference as I know peeps rave about the improvement for the 2t.

Just read this from the article on this site about the interview with Albert Cabestany That is amazing, 5 minutes test ride then straight into a series of sections and 95% better then the 2T he has been riding for some time now.. Cant wait to see what he does when he is riding one next year.!
  8. Many thanks for that information. Ill take your word for it and go buy/fit one. What are the improvements you have found with the bike over the dellorto ? Is there better response? better idling? etc etc
  9. ShercoH, Where do you get a KeiHin flatslide with the pilot & main needle that you suggest in the uk?
  10. Would like to see your results from this comparison as the standard carb setup seems to be a bit amiss but not sure what to do about it.

Buying a brand new bike like the 4RT or 4T (which are basically prototype's) takes some balls!. My 4T wasnt cheap and you know your going to get some problems. Through these forums and by some good groundwork from my dealer.. these are getting sorted and can only be good for the future development for these bikes. After riding my 4T for the first time I knew straight away that through thick and thin this was the bike for me and whatever it takes Im sticking with it. Other people make get similar experiences with other bikes I dont know. But when the 06 version comes out, it will be a much improved bike because.. the likes of us who have bought one and helped sort the problems, have given Sherco & the dealers the necessary feedback to make it better.. Now isnt that what this sport is all about! Whatever machine you buy!

    wheres the piccies then
  14. Thanks Jools I asked that question just out of interest as I was thinking what attributes makes for a good trial's bike as there isnt one bike which you can say has everything is there ? The 4 stroke engine seems to be an asset but whether it is 'the' most important thing I just dont know! ( does anyone?). But if you take a look at what Dougie is doing on the Mont on its first outing, and at the very start of its development curve, its pretty impressive. Time will tell ... and yes, cant wait to see what the Gas Gas 4 Stroke offering will be

    4t Owners Look

Thanks for that.. The rear light was the first thing I took off the moment I got it! Good job I did
  17. Hi Jools , In your opinion, would you rather ride your Gasgas 300 or the 4t? ( or the Mont )
  18. The Sherco 4t is only 2 kg's heavier than the normal 2t and there is lots to be gained in having a 4 stroke motor!! Traction is far superior.. Engine breaking is an asset . All things that are helpful for a trials rider surely. I hope Gas Gas develop a decent 4 stroke and we all have them in future

    4t @ The Scottish

Johny Sherco, Thats real interesting what you found. Mine requires little effort with the kickstart to get it running so it cant be too far out.. But I will sure look at it when I do a full service! Also, riding it today in the local trial, lots of peeps were commenting on it and how Sherco have done a good job on fitting the beast of an engine into the 2t frame. I let a local expert (Jools) have a go and he loved it (Currently rides a GasGas 300 ) he said he tried the Mont and its crap in comparisson And the sound does turn heads. The sound and feel of awesome power is unlike any other modern trials bike I have ever riden.

Update on my Oil leak problem!...and more Got the 4T back today and discussing the problem with Graham Evans (David Jones MC - Newtown) he showed me the generator and the problem.! It appears the oil was being pumped up inside of the sheathing and coming out at the coil and dripping on the exhaust! So, they sealed it and put it together and lost the spark completely On looking at the problem more closely, it appears that where the grommet comes out of the casing, there is a very sharp edge which is in contact with the cables and through the engines vibration and the fact the cables are so tight. It cut through shorting them out and hence no spark.. This also happened on the demo 4T they have too. What they done on the replacement generator is gently smooth a nice radius on this edge which reduced the tightness of the cables ensuring that this shouldnt happen again. If you have a 4T you may want take a look as this .
  21. Thats a lot of data would be nice if it was formatted in nice clean rows I made this purely for the average club which has just a few hard working souls keeping it going to lighten the workload a bit. Its not meant to be for the big scale stuff. (although I could make it do all the stuff that you mentioned) If peeps want the 40 section scores then thats ok to do. I could give them the option in the same workbook In fact, I will do just that
  22. Yes I agree ! But to do that, I would have to enter 2280 bits of information instead of 570. There were only 4 clashes which need a cleans count and it took just a few minutes to check them out. It would of taken much longer to put the other 1710 numbers into the spreadsheet and do it automatically. I could make it do that for peeps who want to do it like that. it would be no problem! regards

    Sherco 3.2

Echo Big Johns comments and well done Ishy Im not sure about the seal as I dont have any info as yet, but I will let you know! Im getting withdrawal symptons for not having by my bedside at night ( wife sleeps in the garage since I got it ) The first time I rode mine in a trial was last weekend when I went down a group to run it in ( easy route) . pottered around and got a clean sheet for the day There was a hill climb in one of the sections and I stopped the bike near the top and realised I hadnt cleared the gate, so kept going and it just gripped and pulled like a train. I dont know what it is but there is something very special about this bike . Dont know if anyone else thinks the same ?

    Sherco 3.2

Big John. How come your 4T has been sat idle for a fortnight Surely your not riding something else when you have this awesome machine to ride Mine is still back at the dealers It appears that oil was was being pumped up from the generator through its conduit to the coil and coming out there dripping onto the exhaust pipe. It did look like it was coming from the casting but it wasnt thank goodness. Hopefully get it back on wednesday
