Agree. Regardless of the inference that you think we are being negative, some of us would really like Pat to do well. Me included
-
There is something about that bike that the creator surely couldn't have given much consideration to when he designed it! Now just imagine sitting astride the seat. What do you think the side view would look like by an onlooker !
-
Interesting! what brought this about and what has the reaction been from the off road community?
-
Obviously not - tell me more ? What has been the reaction to it? Got any links ?
-
You make a good point but maybe its the lack of suitable terrain at some of the WTC venues and also, its easier to get spectators around indoor type sections to view.
Back on thread, I wonder if they could ever use that venue again? Probably a bit too far south but anyway, I think this is it if I can remember correctly Google maps

Yes, that is a fair comment right now about growth, but about brussels, there is always that threat in the UK from local government, but I doubt very much the Eurocrats would put through a European ban as I can't see the Spanish swallowing that too easily IMHO.
-
Interesting to hear in Clip 1 that the bikes were
-
-
- Part 1
- Part 2
- Part 3This place was 7 miles from house and where I saw Steve Saunders for the first time. I was there so looking to see if I am in there somewhere
I remember Steve going up that hill climb like a rocket when everyone else couldn't get up there watching him again, its clear to see how much better he was than his peers at getting grip up that stuff. Amazing
Also, those wheels on Eddie Lejeune's Merlin - Scary or what ?
-
Hey Craig, you couldn't resist having a go could ya
-
Dont' see how that makes any difference to be honest. I can voice an opinion about Caby,Raga,Bou etc . They aren't British are they?
Sorry Dabnabit but saying he's a teenager (moody) etc. What kind of excuse is that ? When people are pumping their own money into him, just like any other sponsored rider, they have to give 100% at the very least whoever or whatever nationality they are. I don't see it any other way.
On a positive note, I am looking forward to see him ride well in Sequatchie on home soil. Hopefully that will give him a boost and get him back on track
-
Interesting comment. Can you explain what you mean by it?
-
Yes I noticed that
He has the potential to do well but it's down to him, not anyone else. Ultimately, if he doesn't want to be here, he is wasting his time, his sponsors time and their money too! If he is fit and isn't giving 100% effort, then I would pack him off home and call it a day!

I think you are being a bit harsh Bilco. If you read His Blog it is clear he hasn't enjoyed the Bangor experience but, and this is a big but.. he states he has been feeling the pressure, riding poorly, has some back pain and doesn't like the cold and despite all that, he won the European round and narrowly missed out on the win in the YTC. He will come good I am sure and he needs to!
I have watched Jack ride a few times now and I can see he doesn't give less than 100% at anytime . Just look at his photos, his face of gritted determination is always present. He will get better and better with the team he is with and he is already conditioned to the European scene where most of the events will take place. I'm split here as I would like Jack to win (being a brit of course) yet I would like a US champion in the hope it grows the sport in the US with the benefits rubbing off on the rest of the trials scene.
Either way, whoever comes out on top, it's going to be a great spectacle and I cant wait to get out there to Sequatchie to get a look in.
p.s. The US round is by far the best value with an absolutely superb trials venue and 2 world championship rounds to watch. Also, the weather was superb last time I went, a few showers but otherwise baking hot.
-
They are there but you cant see them
-
Surely this bike has a shout at the best looking machine - Picture courtesy of Heath - Bangor
It even looks so good, it would inspire me to get one
-
-
Cant speak for the Dabster but I actually want trials to grow and develop and a US world champion would do that quicker than anything else IMHO
(unless Bernie Ecclestone decides he likes trials instead of F1 that is)
p.s. I don't dislike the dabster, I just enjoy the banter with him. Its great fun
-
Agree
This was the point I was making. If the US gets a world champ and it's marketed well, the results should see an increase in interest in the sport in the US. That means there will be more bikes for the likes of Ishy to sell... etc etc.
This is the reason I was interested in what happened in the US when Bernie won in '79. The comments in that thread led me to believe there was an upturn in the sport which if reproduced with Pat, would benefit everyone I believe.
IMHO
-
Agreed
Anyone willing to try that stuff are heroes in my eyes.
-
Please dont take the above comment to reflect what we all think. Looking at the bigger picture, I strongly believe that trials can benefit hugely from a succesful US rider.
On another note, reading Jacks report, its clear to see that his first win with the stated bike problems was some achievement. Well done Jack.
Im going to the US round so see you there.
