  1. How cool is that - At least the French respect their geniuses. We just let ours invent something then let another country exploit it!
  2. It must be said that the French have made a significant input into the technology that we have around us. ( The smart ones of course ) Foucault invented the gyroscope for example. Where would milk be today without Louis Pasteur! Raymond Gaston Plant
  3. Take a look at this splat from Ross in 2005 - the distance is about 6ft and its in slow motion too so you can study how he compresses the suspension then lets it release as he drives forward. Long Splat 2.7mb
  4. I had to brush up on my history knowledge on this but basically, for most of recorded history, man thought that the Earth was the centre of the universe. This theory was called the Geocentric Theory. Anyone who challenged it was put to death for their heretical beliefs. Religion and mythology were also factors of course. A proportion of the French to this day held this belief even though science proved otherwise. Its ironic that in the 19th century, the French physicist Jean-Bernard-L
  5. Here's a picture of Big John modelling the new Jitsie gear ! Black & White looks pretty cool eh ?
  6. Good riders tend to wear one piece outfits so if you are wearing a one piece, people will expect you to be pretty good. If you are not, expect some serious p*** taking from the trials fraternity You have been warned!
  7. You have to understand the French history to understand why they think like this.
  8. Browny was like a mini Bou at Sheffield - Aggressive, fearless and 'confident' too. Considering the size of the sections, he looked completely at home on them. It was just very, VERY impressive and I am sure there were a lot more people in the crowd who thought the same as me. His Dad was sitting 2 rows down from me and his grin was as wide as it gets. He was happy for sure Today it appears he's done the same ! Fair play to him TRW have signed Dabill & Wiggy based on their 'potential' to be top riders. Who's saying they have got it right? Time will tell I suppose. IMHO
  9. Something unexpected come up and couldn't go so well miffed Looked like it was as a good 'un too. After I saw Browny at Sheffield it opened my eyes to his potential. I knew he was good but hell he is much better than I even thought. I will go as far as saying I believe he is currently Britains best hope for a future World Champion. Go Atom As a side note, I suggest that Taddy will be earning more than Bou in a years time (if hes not already). That's trials for ya !
  10. The Tough one is on tomorrow and looks to be the best one yet. Get down there and we will see you there http://www.thetoughone.com/ Note: Read the comments about parking this year. Could get expensive!
  11. I can't see how the economics will work. To build trials machines and run a development team, and run a WTC team, all on the sales of trials machines alone is pretty near impossible in the current market I would suggest. I hope they release some details of what this entails soon for the benefit of everyone concerned.
  12. Is this regarded as quality humour down your way
  13. Bike looks pretty nice although it would be cool to see Alexz riding with those swish green wheels
  14. Well done to Ben Millichap. Just got a new Beta 125cc and riding it well it seems. Nice one Ben
  15. Looks good - got anymore?
  16. Quite the contrary Slapshot, I am intrigued by why people think the way they do regarding who is the best/ greatest etc etc. Its an interesting subject My first experience of watching professional trials riders was seeing Steve Saunders & Eddie Lejeune at a world round in Petersfield. I thought what they were doing was awesome at the the time. Now of course, what Bou does in comparison is just remarkable.
  17. Good question and one that I have too been intrigued by. So , when I was compiling the vids for Sheffield, I watched a lot of his moves in slow motion over and over again. It looks to me that its a combination of sheer strength & timing. The bikes suspension must be set up spot on to complement his technique as well. Simply awesome Anyway, back to the thread..... It is about Doug after all
  18. Depends on what you define as best? I would argue that best is defined as one with the highest skill level in a chosen sport and Toni Bou has displayed that I would suggest. Also, he is competing against 3 ex-world champions and quite frankly beating them with ease. I'm with Neonsurge if the statement was who is the greatest rider in trials as without a doubt, consistency is then a factor and well, Dougs record speaks for itself. But saying all that, there are some anomalies with the thinking here I would suggest. For example , Many people would argue that George Best was a great footballer, yet his winning record is lesser than many of his peers who have no recognition for greatness. Gary Lineker was regarded as one of England's most prolific strikers of all-time* yet not many people regard him as a great footballer, or maybe they do. There are many many examples we could debate. Either way, Toni Bou is the best trials rider the world has ever seen and Dougie Lampkin is the greatest trials rider the world has ever seen (to date). In my humble opinion of course *(Source : Wikipedia )
  19. I would argue that the best trials rider the world has ever seen is Toni Bou. Getting back to this thread, I hate these type of threads! It is totally negative. The first time out on his new bike and we are debating here whether he's 'good enough' or whether he is 'too old' etc etc. I saw him, like many others at Sheffield, and he didn't look past it to me. In fact, if anything. He looked fresh and determined.. and come on, if he can win the Scott then he just has to be fit surely. I think its all about confidence and that's all. Anyone who has played a competitive sport at a high level will know that's the difference between winning and losing once the skill is there. Look at Toni Bou at Sheffield. That was confidence extreme that was. Give him some time and get behind him I say. IMHO
  20. Great report and not that I am biased or anything but Ross is the dogs danglies in the mud Its a complete mystery to me how he gets grip in those sections
