I'm more than convinced that what I have said is correct in this instance. It goes without saying that unless it's possible to prove otherwise, you cannot claim something as fact.
However, I can claim that Dabster talks bollox as fact though cant I because he has proven that in this thread right ?
-
Lol you are so comical! You bring out the 'abduction of a scotsman' chestnut in your defence. And crop circles as well !!
I am not going to attempt to explain anything but stand by my statement that until proven otherwise, there is a theoretical probability that other lifeform exists in the universe. Whether they have advanced to a position where they have developed a powered interstellar transportation system is not known. But as we don't know for sure, we can't say either way. That's why your statement is total bollox!
-
Good quote TTT although string theory has stalled a bit this year Current thinking is maybe it's not the answer they thought it would be . With my current understanding, there isn't a replacement theory either so it must be a bit depressing at the moment if you are a theoretical physicist!
-
I know you regularly talk a lot of bollox but you have excelled this time with this statement.
The facts are science cannot disprove the existence of UFO's so therefore there remains a theoretical probability that they do exist, until proven otherwise

Hope the attached image helps

When I was riding, I wasn't bothered too much about winning simply because of this problem. What I done and what I enjoyed more was to identify a rider that was better than me and aim at trying to beat them. If I beat them then in my eyes I won! Then when I had got to that level , I then focussed on another better rider until I beat them as well. I finally got to the point where I had beaten all the guys at the level I was riding at and then it got to the point should I go up a level.
Now this is the problem. I had improved to an ok standard, but the next level is too big a step for me to switch to overnight. I was also getting injuries at the level I was riding and thought going up would just compound this and more injuries would result. I chose to pack in riding completely.
Some thoughts here. Firstly, I never rode a trial at the level I was riding clean. If I could do that regularly, then I would have been at a level to go up. At local level, I was beating my peers but we were all around the same level dropping around 20 marks. So, in theory, I could have stayed at that level and whilst I would be beating them, I wouldn't have progressed to a high enough standard to go up but winning all the competitions. However, if I travelled to a trial out of area, I would have got beat easily by some riders who simply shouldn't be riding at that level ( experts dropping to novice routes) but that didn't bother me as I still focussed on what I said in the first paragraph. Identify someone you want to beat and try and beat them. That way each trial is a challenge and a realistic one at that.
The sport will always have trophy hunters. The key to enjoying your trials I believe is to keep above all that.
IMHO

On behalf of the lads, Thanks for your kind words . It wasn't without it's problems but we got it sorted in the end.
-
Who has seen the Toni Bou cotton reel vid then? How awesome is that !!!!
-
You certainly are according to Clarkson and co. ! They rated it as mega un-cool on the cool board
-
He done that on purpose to try and make us think he was crap
Videos will be online sometime tomorrow all being well. We have had a mini electronic production line going here. Unfortunately it was held up by Kinell having his 3 hour morning run at 5.30am this morning
There will be around 40 videos time by we finished

Just as a matter of interest, if this event was in early January, the riders would be on their new mounts for the new season and it would be the first event when anyone would see them on them. I would think from a commercial perspective, it would pull in a lot more people?
We would have seen Doug on the Beta, (bound to be a massive pull) and Wiggy on his TRW Mont (with those swish green wheels)
What do you reckon?
-
Even better, it would be more rewarding to view the other riders attempts first to put his ride into perspective. The whole ride was inch perfect. If the show had judges, he would have got straight 10's for that. Amazing!
-
Geez man give the guys a chance! The stuff will come in good time
Alexz was riding his Gasser along with Dougie on the Mont as their new contracts are for the 2008 season of course. Surely you knew that
-
For anyone who didn't go, you MUST see the way he rode the cotton reels when the section was reversed.(video link needed here) It was just jaw dropping eye popping talent like you have never ever seen. And it was all so effortless.
Most of the time, he didn't even look to need a minder
I can't believe that trials can get any better than this man to be honest.
-
Well, Ross done ok I think for his first time out. The first section they rode he went clean up to the big splat up onto the lorry bed and oh so nearly got up but never made it.
On this section, Alexz also rode clean to this point and failed at the same place. Browny cleaned it.
The second section involved a very steep drop and up a steep incline with no run up. Both Alexz & Ross cleaned again to the same point. Getting up the steep incline, Alexz didnt get up but Ross made it for a three. I think Browny cleaned it ?
The last section was all over tree roots. They had to lift and drop off onto an inclined tree root and ride up it. Both Ross & Alexz lost the front wheel off the inclined root taking 5's although Ross rode out the section cleaning the rest of it. Browny may of got a 1 on it but I'm not sure.
So it finished Michael Brown, Ross Danby, Alexz Wigg
Considering the size of the event, The fact that it was their first time and the fact they were riding the same sections as the big boys (albeit a small change to the entry point of the second section) Ross didn't dissapoint.
As one of his main sponsors, I was very pleased with the way he rode. In the first section, he leapt off the first rock to land on the second and it was like a butterfly landing on a petal. That soft silky smooth action never ceases to impress me. Awesome
I do reckon that if Ross and Alexz could play on those sections again, they both would have been able to clean them given some time.
Well done Ross and congratulations must go to Browny for an epic ride. He was something special that night.

Just got back.
A few things to mention here.
Firstly, Michael Brown will have got a lot of new fans from his performance tonight. He looked to be having carb problems and was still taking on huge leaps when a flat spot would have seen him fall badly. Total respect for that riding. He was superb
Anyone who thinks that Doug is past it wants to think again. With the demise of Raga to a hand injury he sustained in practice the day before, he retired and left the door open to the 4RT riders. If it wasn't for the genius that is Bou, Dougie would have looked the master showing the way. He looked to be riding with a lot of confidence and I think next year has a lot of potential for him to do well if things go his way based on that riding.
Bou, well what can I say! We were treated to a level of sublime skill, ability and strength that is simply unsurpassed. I mentioned to Lin Danby sitting next to me that I would love to see what he rides in practice. He was making it look like a backyard practice set-up. Even Dougie at one point said he hasn't even broke out in a sweat! He is simply the best trials rider I will ever likely to see. The Tiger Woods of trials!
Finally, Ross said he enjoyed his first outing and didn't do too bad finishing 2nd to Michael (who was just excellent and deserved the win)
Superb evening all round.
P.s Andy nearly got took out by Dabill leaving the tree root section getting that all important pic
And Dibs green wheels looked swish
-
Will it be repeated? Be on the way to Sheffield at that time.
-
Damn fine ladies I must say Will they be at Bangor by any chance
-
Have you looked at the site ? http://www.indoor-trials.com/
All the info should be there.
For those who are going , see you all tomorrow
-
How about some of Ross from 2005
We spent a day at Nantmawr Quarry taking pics ( Pictures Lee Johnson)
Heres the rest of them. You may find some others Clicky Here
-
There is an easy way to neutralise the effects of that set-up although I won't say how to do it on here for obvious reasons. I am not sure whether the criminal fraternity are intelligent enough to work it out though although if they have been in nick recently, they may have learnt it
I'm sorta hoping that they have a go and you get it on video. I would love to see them fry
-
Starting to surf the Beta websites now in anticipation of your next bike purchase by any chance
-
