This is the thing - The doubling in NIC we were told was going to be spent on improving the NHS! I have yet to meet anyone who can tell me its better today than what it was 10 years ago. SO where has all that money gone?
The only thing that is cheaper these days is electronic goods. This of course has nothing to do with the government as there is virtually no manufacturing left in the uk. We have seen rate rises on our industrial estate being so high that its driven some BIG employers away from the area. In the 5 years we have been going, I have only seen one company of any size come to the area.(100+ employees)
But the UK public just keep soaking it all up and nothing is done. When the poll tax was introduced, people went mental but nowadays, the council tax actually works out more! and whats done about it? Everyone just moans about it (like I am doing now )

I have been chatting to the designer and this is his details regarding to the wheels.
"As far as wheels go the front is a dh setup and made by FUNN it is a 48 spoke wheel/hub, with a heavy tube and a michelin downhill tire.
the rear is a ktm sx65 hub laced to a 21" excel wheel, and it has a dunlop front trials tire on it."

Council tax has also consistently risen above inflation year on year since I have lived In Telford (9 years). What's the situation regarding council Tax in your town?

Tough call - Satisfy your desire to win a competition or satisfy the people who pay your wages and provide the machinery and team that put you there in the first place! Unless they are rich, I think I know what most people would do!

TFT . I reckon there are a lot of people in the UK who would sympathise with those statements. Can't see anyone from any main political party saying it though.
As an offshoot, I have a guy working for me who is a non-uk national. He recently took a test about becoming a UK citizen. Beside the obvious questions like, who is the prime minister etc, he had to answer this question:-
If there are 4 different people living in separate rooms in one house with their own TV's, should they all have to buy a TV license !
I think that sums up the state of Britain!

That kid looks good Wouldn't it have been great to have one of those as a nipper
-
Bloody hell! How did you know that! Are you Psychic Megs cota kid or what

My sister and her partner are labour - both were councillors. We use to have some great debates. It was ace
I love argument, I love debate. I don't expect anyone just to sit there and agree with me, that's not their job.

ooOoOoOoOOOOoOOOHHH Touched a nerve did I We were having some fun! Can't talk about religion these days can we and you want to ban politics too!!!!
You are incorrect of course but what makes me laugh is you actually think the reason for this is the Labour Government !! :rotfl:
I always cheer up immensely if an attack is particularly wounding because I think, well, if they attack one personally, it means they have not a single political argument left.

Its interesting to see the comments of people when looking at a still picture (previous thread) vs the video footage (this thread). Looking at the video, I'm with everyone else in thinking that was extremely harsh IMHO.

I remember the power shutdowns and those damn strikes in the 70's. Its funny how when Maggie came to power they soon became virtually non existent.. and now the labour government are in, they all seem to be coming back again!

What about the tyres? Isn't there some rule regarding them?

Would one of these bikes be legal for trials?
-
Taddy is a nutter - he has no fear - He will do well in that game !

I would share your thoughts on that however, I would say the swinging arm assy looks pretty sturdy but whether the shock mounting is strong enough to take the load I am not sure. The only other obvious point of weakness looking at it visually is where the two sets of tubes join the front forks bearing tube assy. Thats a prone area of fatigue as we know.
The top half looks a little flimsy but its not structural to the mechanical operation of the bike. It just has to support the weight of a rider. (So that means you lardy asses wont be able to have one ) It also looks unlikely to be able to take a heavy bash to the top end of it.
To be a trials bike, it would need a bit of work. A watertight airbox would be a necessity, like on a gasser
Still a great project though as its a prototype. They have done a fantastic job I reckon

Just over a year and $8500 it appears !
-
That's a great piece of work . Fair play to them
They claim a total weight of 57KG !! That's pretty impressive

As much as I agree with you in relation to the government, the oil companies aren't doing too bad.
BP have recently had some problems though... profits were down 26.7 per cent on the third-quarter last year at $4.21 billion.

Great bike - but no brains -- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xfVX71YqPuQ...feature=related
I'm with you on the development of an electric trials bike. A sort of hybrid downhill bike with the geometry and setup of a trials cycle - with electric power. It is something that I would love to design given the time. I suspect there are top companies on it right now.
