  1. I have this strategy you see! If it looks like I'm gonna get beat in a banter bash, I pull out the big words and hope it scares them off
  2. I was just talking to Ross who was following Dougie for a short while. It got to the point where Dougie was riding more like a Speedway rider than a trials rider across the route they were on. Pretty hairy stuff apparently
  3. Why on earth do you want to make a bike heavier? That is just complete and utter madness in my opinion. I wouldn't like a bike of the weight of an Ariel 500 falling on me from a 2ft step never mind a 6ft step. What is your reasoning behind that suggestion? If it wasn't apparent enough, that appeared to be utter sarcasm. That wasn't sarcasm, that was just plain sardonic ! Seriously, I am intrigued why anyone would want to make the bikes heavier?
  4. I am not creeping here ( honest guv ) But Ross and his dad still mention the 2006 round put on by Perce and the team even today as being one of the best British trials they rode all year.
  5. Firstly, thank you both for your replies But doesn't the comment above dabster support my thinking . The 'specialists' should know the course better than anyone so should therefore have an advantage shouldn't they? Watching the vids on you tube, some riders were causing big delays for riders behind them so would this then mean that if you have an early number , and you are a good rider, you have an advantage? If Dougie then went out last, he would have been far down the list on time wouldn't he? Either way, pretty damn impressive I reckon!
  6. I have a question! Of course Dougie is going to score low on observation, but why was he so fast compared to some of the other riders who are what some people call 'specialists' ?
  7. Just about anything is possible with F1 but its unlikely due to the precedent being set in a similar case in 1995
  8. Heres some youtube Scott Postings. Gobbysarah account - click here 65 videos at last look
  9. There ya go Bilco, you got your wish
  10. TWO Bou won 9 of the 11 - Raga, the other 2 . (Belgium was cancelled of course) Full Results - PDF Next year doesn't look like it will be any different. I reckon Bou could win the next straight 6 championships if the desire remains and he stays healthy enough.
  11. One thing I have noticed is that the top riders will hold high revs and slip the clutch to get the wheel turning but not spinning. I have videoed Ross Danby ( who is pretty good in the mud it must be said although I'm not biased honest ) and watched it in slow motion and noticed that he combines weight distribution with velvet smooth power delivery. He also places the back wheel in places where he believes it will give him the most traction. I have found by my own experience that losing grip is partly associated with erratic clutch control combined with incorrect engine revs which for certain gets the back wheel spinning and then game over Trying to get as much speed as possible before the climb is what helps me the most. I tend to use higher gears as well - 3rd gear or sometimes 4th P.s. I'm a novice rider too
  12. Being completely politically incorrect here, what is the average age of the this theoretical committee? Why do I ask this? Because I bet its much higher than the average age of a a rider who competes in the nationals and I would suggest therefore that most will not have a clear idea what the riders want. Am I right or wrong? As mentioned before, I have always been interested in seeing the youths develop and the best British ones getting a shot on the big stage but in reality, you can count the UK's potential WTC top 5 riders (outside DL) on one hand. So, my thinking is this. If we want more riders to be at the top level, gear the 98% of British trials towards FIM rules keeping the special trials like the Scott/SSDT traditional. If we don't care about getting riders to the top level then get all ACU members to vote and if they want no-stop then go with it. I personally think that whilst we debate the rules time and time again on here, Sunday riders take it all too seriously. I really don't care what score I get these days. The wife is never impressed when on the rare occasion I take home a trophy. I think the majority want no-stop on here as its easy to enjoy it. Maybe thats the crux of it, the funs gone out of it for most and its time to put it back in? At the end of the day, you have to give the customers what they want don't you? IMHO
