  1. Ok, Good advice, start on a hill Yup im away !! Errr .. Start on a flat in 3rd gear . ..and I was doing so well on the hill . Ok, try in 3rd on a flat and NO 1st gear... ERRRR.. Try in 1st or 2nd gear! but he just told me to do 3rd gear on a flat You are correct and after trying the 3rd gear on the flat and coming off... the pain is more subdued too I reckon practising up the hill is the easiest
  2. I'm not out to build a dragster by the way! I'm quietly confident it will be ok It just frustrates me that the FIM limited the engine design to a 4 stroke. So GG build an engine based on 100 year old technology and everyone else has OHC single pot engines. Maybe there is nothing wrong in that but nothing new has been created when there are other engine technologies that could have been developed for trials use! Back to my usual gripe of a lack of vision
  3. Thats interesting. Is it possible to like sponsor a section to give it a name? Maybe a good way of raising extra revenue for the Scott charities? ( or has that already been done?)
  4. I will tell you about it on msn if you go online - Not ready to go too public with it yet
  5. Just found a new game similar to the original trials game - but this one is a 4T here it is Bike Madness P.s . I think the rider was modelled on Cota Kid in his one piece
  6. What would you say if I told you I was building a bike engine that develops 38hp @ 7,600rpm and which is lighter than the 4T engine!
  7. So what was the thing that made you decide on a scorpa over the other offerings?
  8. I can personally vouch for the Gasser 125. The one that Ross was riding was a very nimble machine. Very light and had enough power for anything that I rode with me at 11.5st. Having Sherco's before that, they too were a good machine but I found the gasser much easier to ride hence I changed my Sherco for one. They also have a very good pedigree for winning and have proven to be reliable if well maintained.
  9. Man you are getting a bit desperate when you have to refer to 60 year old WWII anecdotes
  10. I would wait to see what the gasser 4T is like
  11. This thread might be worth looking through as its got the details of the settings I had on my 2005 4T P.S This post is so old my tag was Webmonkey then http://www.trialscentral.com/forums/index....5&hl=keihin
  12. Absolutely makes sense. They're last to the 4-stroke party, been slated, loads of rumours (Trials folk love rumours!) about company stability, long-term future etc. This is them saying they're here and they're here for the long term and not only are they selling bikes currently, but are innovating and developing for the future too. It's great marketing. Ok fair enough but 2009!!! 2009 is only 1 year away of course, thats not too long. I think they took a look at Sherco who messed up bringing the 4T out too soon and chose to be patient and get it right. Out of the three 4'ts out there, its only the 4rt that can be regarding as a real success based on sales volume. Whilst I liked my 4T, the gasser is soooo much easier to ride so if they get this right, I think that it will be a popular machine. One thing is for sure, it wont be as expensive as the rest. I am impressed with the bold step they have taken with this design and stuck to the Gas Gas philosophy of weight reduction is everything, bearing in mind they will have to convince the doubting public that they have successfully overcome the design & efficiency problems associated with a flathead/sidevalve design . I hope the bike is a resounding success and good luck to them One other thing is that picking up on Big Johns comments above about not ever riding a side valve bike, I bet the nostalgic pre-65 bunch may be interested in looking at this machine as a combination of the very old meets new ? Just a thought
  13. So they changed the angle! Its still a 4 valve SOHC 4 stroke so what's all the fuss
  14. I can see this one so seems like you have cracked it p.s. Just make sure you put your posts in the correct forum else they will get moved and that's when you think they have disappeared.
  15. A thought just crossed my mind and that is GG must have just developed this engine for trials only as surely they aren't considering it for Enduro or MX machines?
  16. That looks a little fatter than a standard gasser but I agree, it does look good although the water pipe looks a little exposed. Shame they couldn't reverse the flow on the pump to avoid having to have the pipes crossing over.
  17. As its a side valve... It will need it!
  18. It was only a matter of time before he got his big break with that much talent. He fully deserves it. Good luck Alexz

    Youth Trials

So if I'm reading this correctly then both the 7 and 9 yr old can compete on the TY80 - which is great news. But can it be competitive on todays courses do you think..... Thanks for the responses so far - much appreciated. Shaun. Tom Minta won his class a few years ago on the TY80 so yes it is still competitive
  20. Can always count on the Ishmeister to tell it how it is! Exactly how is it? Well I think what he meant is you been taking it up the
  21. That was absolutely brilliant to watch. Great find. I would love to see the full 30 mins of it
  22. Come into this a bit late but I must completely agree with all positive comments regarding Shirty's contribution to this site, to his loyal gasser riders and to trials in general. If this was another sport like rugby for instance, he would be getting an MBE for his services to the promotion of the sport and the support of his riders he is so passionate about! one word.... Respect I must also pick up on the very valid comment made by Julian/Dabster about the reliability of gassers in general. Ross' 125's have had unrelenting abuse and the engine's have never failed (to my knowledge). One DNF last year for a busted swinging arm is all I know of of any significance. Please excuse me 4ourtea for my shameful plug of Ross but if anyone doubts a gasser, watch and listen to this Video and see how much abuse the gasser gets week in week out. (footage from Hawkstone 2005) The key to a good reliable bike is top quality maintenance and you can't get much better than Julian and Mick where gassers are concerned IMHO Back to Shirty's "Shirty says... " articles..... Keep em coming I say - There's nowt wrong with them
  23. next year - could we get it televised?
