Why is this discussion being dominated by Stop & Hop? The only reason this is done is to prepare to go up some HUGE obstacle or extended climb which ironically, has to be done non stop.
These elements in the section draw the largest crowds to view simply because its not just displaying skill, but sheer balls where even the best of the best nonstop riders could ever wish to emulate.
Its this combination of bravery + skill that sets modern trials apart from 'old school' riding.
Is not the SSDT the pinnacle of non stop riding here in the UK? Looking at the top 30 riders, how many of them are 'old school' ?
Here's the results - I cant count many! SSDT Results

Its a gasser! Of course it looks beautiful
-
Shame a few more peeps haven't waded into this. The entertainment value would have been great
-
Is Craig minding for Pat ?
-
Couldn't disagree with you more.
If the WTC sections were modified (and eased) to ride non-stop, there would be many more people in the world who could ride them. As it stands, there are really only 2 (maybe 3) people in the world with a chance of winning the FIM WTC as it stands.
The skill (and balls) to ride the FIM WTC at the top level is way way ahead
The main man has said himself that it shouldn't go back to non-stop. I wonder why?
-
Dont listen to him. Not for me but Spud will do well I reckon
-
I thought the same too about white routes but some of those sections in the Novogar are superb up the streams. I would love to have a go at some of them but overall, probably too hard for a yellow route but still fantastic nonetheless.
Great trial again Gaz. Thanks to all the team who helped you with that. It's the only local trial that gets me back on a bike these days Gotta wait another year now
p.s. Do something about the weather for the next one please
-
Funny you should say that as I thought the bike didn't sound great - You got it round ok though looking at the scores - Sorry to hear about the exhaust !
I agree with you on the choice of sections - the stream type sections are the best and that really difficult one that always takes me for a three. (section 27)
It would be good to get those other stream sections that they use for the novogar in there somewhere. Maybe they are not used as there isn't suitable white routes I dont know. But there is some great ones there to have a go at. Be a real test for the twinshocks.
-
No, there was 2 options as the yellow gates were wide enough to take the option to drop off with the expert and inter route but most sensible peeps went down to the right which was a progressive step down . I'm trying to think of the section number and post it in a mo.
I think it was section 10
-
See Gizza5 , I was being modest with 5ft - someone else who saw it reckons it was 6ft !
My wife will be happy

It was pretty high - I dont think it was much less than that to be honest! .... but it looked damned high enough from where my head was
-
Ditto - And what's with the weather? Last year was awful and this year much worse. The wind across the moors from the last set of sections was unreal to the extent of having to lean into the wind to stay upright!
T'was fun though
Did the Bultaco behave all the way round?
-
Genius ! How many peeps wet themselves when they read this!
p.s. I know of probably one who didn't
-
212 riders and Spud only went and won didn't he ! (Stu looked very very disappointed ).... and yes, the Fantic was great. Much better than I expected and easily competitive on these sections. Took a little while on the first card to get into it again being I hadn't ridden for a year but I had some good rides and even beat Spud on some of the sections - One section I floated it off a near 5ft drop off and the observer was shaking his head after. He told me off for abusing it ! lol
However, there isn't anyway I will get back into riding. It was a good day out but I much prefer watching Ross ride these days than riding myself

Nah, Andy tells me he's a nice chap and can take a joke!
I hope..

Perce could offer some advice after the recent SSDT me thinks
I'll get me coat

Hmmm, she has very small feet

Woohoo - Looking forward to it! 200 Riders too

Yes, thats the thing - we will be bullied into getting Vista when we dont want it. And then what comes after Vista.. Vista needs more power from the PC therefore hardware upgrades as well as server and software upgrades. all for no REAL benefit!!!
I reckon Microsoft will keep supporting XP for a while yet in relation to security updates as I think with the current world financial climate, there isn't the appetitive or the money to upgrade to vista right now. Forcing people to upgrade right now wouldn't be the smartest move me thinks!
-
I'm of the opinion that I can just about put up with the problems associated with Windows XP & Office 2003 - as long as they keep the security updates coming, I can't see a need to change this set-up. So I have no need for Vista and cant ever see a reason why I would.
-
Now that is a really interesting conceptual set-up you have there. Is that scaled 1:1?
Although, the drive is on the opposite side to this image so you have been a bit sneaky there
