It's debatable whether Vista is OK although it does depend on what you use it for. Unfortunately though, Microsoft has stopped issuing new licences for XP for computer suppliers from Jan this year trying to bully people into buying something they don't want, namely Vista. (although you can get licences from 3rd party outlets) A poll by US market research firm Harris Interactive found that only 10% of those questioned were planning to upgrade to Vista in the near future. (Reference Link). People are generally happy with XP and don't want Vista! For businesses it will cost a small fortune to upgrade for no apparent benefits.
MS Office 2007 is a total croc of sh** for sure. Office 2003 is much better although you can get a free office package which is compatible with MS products called OfficeOrg from Sun Systems. Get it here. Click Link

Did you see the way it went round corners Muscle cars are exactly that. All brawn and no brain

Well is he tries opening his eyes, he may do a little better tomorrow
-
As stated - The Keihin is smooth at the bottom and allows the engine to rev very high, It's response is faster than the dellorto as well.
Take a look at these short clips of Ross on a JST GasGas 125cc. This has a Keihin fitted and when set-up correctly, it is pretty sweet!
-
When is the extremity of these indoor sections going to peak? Some of that was insane
-
Gas Gas , great value for money. Go and buy one now .

Ok, Who's motor was this then ?? Not only is it towing a full length trailer, it even has a 3 bike rack on the back . Geeez, I wish we had roads like yours.
And did anyone see these 2 guys then
-
Andy was trying to get me to taste that stuff so I can only assume its level of potency is enough to make me do Rab C Nesbitt impersonations after one sip! Maybe next time mate
-
Wow, Laia's a ringer for Lara Croft ! Nice
-
And thats my point, 'Managing the time' is exactly what they do! They look at the section before they ride it and think that trying to ride it for a clean will result in running out of time so they dab their way through for a 3. If all the riders do that getting 3's then it neutralise's the section and makes it redundant IMO. Not what the CoC wants or the riders or the spectators.
This happens on just a few sections so its not like this is a major problem. I asked for a discussion to see what people thought about it
-
Nice video and editing . Thanks for sharing it with us
Out of interest , what camera and editing suite did you use ?
-
The main center add plays out then the game comes up. Takes a while
-
Yes, thats what they do of course, but..... if the section requires riders to 'ride it for a three' because it's deemed too long to ride it as they would normally, then is that what you want to see?
I think you want the riders to be able to have a fair attempt at the section and not be penalised for a difficult but good ride
-
If the rider stops and takes too long hopping about then thats taking the pee and why the rule is there of course. If you look at the videos in This Post , you will see section 4. Over the 2 days, some riders got up and then ran out of time on the rest of the section.
To answer your question about time allocation within the section, when the section is quite technical and not very flowing, then it goes without saying that there will be a lot of hopping of course. All depends on the section to be honest. You look at sections 14,15 which were long flowing sections, they were spot on with the riders getting out with around 10 seconds or so left.
The technical ones are by definition the hardest to get the time balance right by the looks of it.
-
I agree and that's why I advocate keeping the section difficulty high. I know its a fine line but when it works, its spot on.
In relation to hopping around in a section un-necessarily, this is not in the riders interest. After all, at the top level, they have to conserve as much energy as possible and they have to get get round the loop in a set time. Better to ride efficiently than inefficiently surely?
-
Yeah, Great atmosphere, but don't you think air horns in the valley would have sounded great too
Looking at this photo, Julie and I were standing at the front on the left out of view on this pic.
-
Thats the point. 'getting through it' as you say is not what we want to see. A display of extreme skill is what we want to see. Give them the time to display those skills is all I am asking for.
Also, Saturday was nice and sunny. Sunday was wet. The sections were slippery and took longer to do. The scores are partly higher because of the 5's taken for not getting out the sections in time and the 3's for dabbing through to avoid 5's (Junior route I am talking about).
-
Yes I remember seeing you. I didn't see you catch it though
-
Are you talking about the Swedish Rider? Damn, I was stood right there and saw that it was broken but didn't see anyone catch it. You must have been quite close to us then ( Julie & I )
-
I disagree. The event had plenty of people on Saturday (not so good on Sunday). The commentator asked the crowd how many present was here for the first time . I reckon around 30+% put their hands up. I spoke to some of these people and they thought it was awesome. They said they would come back as well.
To answer your question, I haven't advocated increasing the 90 seconds, just ensuring that the section is of a length that it can be done comfortably within the 90 seconds.
You will probably agree that the sections with the big steps/climbs attract the largest crowds. It is when the riders are setting themselves up for this element that the tension/excitement starts to build in the gallery.. and then, the rider attacks it and all eyes are on him/her. Can they do it .. etc
I personally think giving them more time to set up properly to attack these elements is better and more exciting than seeing someone rush to get through it dabbing with a 3 to get out on time to avoid a 5. I am talking about reducing the length of the section by around 10 to 20 seconds that's all. Not 1 minute or more..
Less work for the CoC has got to be a good thing as well

I don't break and Bike parts when I ride... oh no.. only my body parts normally
