  1. Get the TL125 ... If for nothing else just to give it a good trials home , And I'd bet you can always find someone that has never tried trials and that makes a great intro bike ! (and we don't want to see it get customized into a motocrosser by someone that knows no better ...) With a little work and practice on it you can get a tl125 anywhere you want to go . You just have to plan way ahead .! Glenn
  2. I was just stating that 'cause when I had S.S. spokes made up to lace excel rims onto my 240 hubs , I was asked to take a measurement that way in several places around the rim and then average them out (bent, cracked old rims ) . and send that info along with hubs to save alot on shipping costs ... Good luck with the 240 , you'll love it when it comes together ! Glenn
  3. Woody , Not to interfere with your helping Ben , But wouldn't a measurement to the center of the rim be more accurate regardless of what rim is used ... ? Measured the same way you did . Just my two bits . Glenn
  4. Yeah , That about sums it up ... Spend a little time on flat ground practicing Full lock turns and figure 8's , Get comfortable with your bike ... Breathe , relax , and have fun . Glenn

    Front Tire

Well said ! If you can't turn well , you really can't ride twinshock/no stop trials well ... And hopping a ossa around would take way to much energy! Glenn
  6. I don't see the clip-on handle bars described in the listing .... That kind of power you'd want to stay tucked tight ! Can you just imagine what the torque spec must be !
  7. Yeah for a $200.00 bike (with a parts bike in a box) , She turned out pretty good ... Thanks , Off to work now ... Glenn
  8. I hope everything went well and he is on the road to recovery , our prayers are with him . Glenn
  9. It's been on here alot before , but here she is ...
  10. Contact Classic trials , as he does mikuni's on the fantics too , and may share the info . But it's to bad you can't use his OKO conversion , they work quite well . The only serious mod the 240's need is cuttiing off the stock footpeg stubs and welding on some modern mounts down and back a little bit . And the bushing and greasable swingarm shaft kit from classic is the bee's knees too . If the bike is already apart , now would be a good time for that bit of modern improvement too ... His bushings are finished honed inside and install easy into the arm , Getting the old bearing out if nasty can be harder ... Good luck and keep the fantics rolling !!! Glenn
  11. Good luck with finding that info ... My 83 240 pro was a works bike too . I've got every peice of paper that has been with the bike it's whole life , with the names of the involved people . But after close to five years of research and hunting , I've still not received answers from a few key people in my bikes past ... Like I would like to know who ported mine , as it's done a whole lot different than the other known stock 240 motors I have , and works really well . I was also gonna change the steering head angle on the frame I use and after starting to measure it and compare it to the othe frames I've got . it is a little different as well ! With no visibly altered welds , it appears to have been made different from the original welding stage . The top tube is longer , head angle steeper and it's missing alot of welded on brackets that the other frames have with no evidence of them being removed ... But the search for info never ends , good luck with yours ! Glenn
  12. On the carb slide ... If the slide is worn bad , than so is the carb body ... A new slide won't do much . When you get it running right , contact Classic trial and get a OKO carb kit for it , But make sure your exhaust is correct first ... Post a photo of your silencer if you can , Sounds strange .... Glenn
  13. Give Chris at Classic a call , I know he makes them up in batches , So just tell him what you need and I'm sure he will oblige ! But his are not like the one Lee pictured , Different design with much higher flow rate , I think he uses a Sherco element mounted at the top of the box ... Ask him for info and a photo , Great craftmanship ... Glenn

Glenn
  15. Ok ... here goes ... The timing spec is 1.6mm before tdc on the piston corresponding to 17'degrees on the flywheel ... Or pull the timing cover and you'll see a index boss above the K.S. shaft , between a bolt hole and the flywheel. Below that you'll see the pickup with two lines on it . Now rotate the flywheel clockwise and on the edge of the flywheel will be 2 scribed lines , line up the 1st one (A) with the case boss mark and the second line should be between the two marks on the trigger body . Hope that makes sense , and the marks on the flywheel can be hard to find due to age and corrosion . But Make sure your pipe is Clean inside . Very sensitive to exhaust restrictions . and chamber shape (DENTS). Best of luck, Glenn

    Front Mudguard

When I got my 240 in 05' I got lucky ... I ordered Acerbis trials fenders from my distributor and got a set . When he delivered them he said I lucked out because they no longer make them and I got the last front they had ... And IMHO it fits the front better than the original . But I have since bought a pattern rear from inmotion bultaco .uk , and it fits the rear much better , as the acerbis was a bit to narrow . I've also seen the gonneli fenders in use too , and they fit well . Glenn
  17. Sometimes I find it just gets down to momentum and body position to weight rear wheel , And clever use of the trottle to keep the back tire clean as practical... And no two muddy spots are ever alike , Even the same one on the next loop . I always watch the riders right before me ,and try to find a less traveled route when possible ... And I tend to use a higher gear with lower rpm's to smooth things out a little , But then again I like mud and rocks ... Glenn

    Tl125 Pics

Reminds me of mine ... Back when it was new and I weighed about a 100lbs (wet!) Glenn , And I know the negatives got flipped over ....
  19. or maybe the Hopper !?
  20. Makes you wonder why honda doesn't come out with a add campaign ... "GRAVITY OPTIONAL " Glenn
  21. Yes I think it would be hard to sell bikes when the suspension devolopment is ongoing ... But they may have offered a investment/development package where a finished bike was the payoff... And I wish I could afford to import them here !
  22. Contact Bob at B&J Racing in TN. He'll be able to set you up with some WES progressive fork springs and some falcons for the back . And he totally understands trials suspension and heavier riders like us ... Glenn

    Beta Evo 250

    !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! who's got the rope ????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
  24. To the best (or worst) of my knowledge ... The 50 , 75 , 80 , 125 , and 200 all have the chain on the left side . The 240 , 300 and on up have the chain on the right. You can get spares for any model fantic fairly easily . (esp. if your in europe ...) As far as best buy tips ... Look for as stock a bike as you can find , You don't want to spend your time fixing someone's 'improvements' 'Cause with most of the Fantic line there truly wasn't much to improve on ... Glenn
