If you can take your time and do the work yourself , @ 50.00$ ,build it !!!! All the parts are out there and you may find , if your careful with what you spend , you may be able to break even or come out ahead in a few years . I've seen a few nice ones go for silly money !
And get the RYP TY80 nationals dvd , It'll make you happy to see just what one of the tough little beasties can do ...
I've got to get off my but and finish my boys ty 's surgery . (wheel/suspension transplant ...)
Do you have a youngster to love it ?

Hi all , As I'm going thru all the important bits on the 50 , I've got stumped on a stupid item ! Does anyone know what size the chain is supposed to be ? As the rusty/worn one I removed with a chain breaker (no master link!?) does not match any of the chain bits I have about .
Also do we know where a set of sprocketts may be obtained ?
Thanks in advance for any info ! Little details are hard to find on the little fantic .

Ain't that the point for which most of us ride trials ?

OOHH ! now I see the reason for the message ... Meant to tell you I had one way back in the day that was amazing , 300+cc. and was a john deere on steroids . Little , if anything was stock ... Somewhere my family must have some photo's and details of that thumper , my last trials bike till I got the fantic a few years ago ... I miss it .!!!

Hey Copey ; There is a little airport in Dickson TN. , just a few minutes from ITSA Headquarters / B&J racing ... So think about coming up for one of the two day champ. rounds , if you really want to see what ITSA all about !
Glenn ,
PS. what kinda aircraft ? I had a 1958 aircoupe at one time in the past , was all kinds of fun !
-
LEE !!! You've got to much time on your hands ... That's almost exactly the way I was thinking of doing my spare frame , just to make use of the new 301? aluminum skid plate (unused new !) that I've got ! I thought it would be cleaner than the flatten the case guard method . But alas I've got to many neverending projects at the moment , so on the back burner it goes for now ...

Shot Taken and missed ... #2 is the designation for for The ITSA intermediate class I try to ride , And I did win the 08 STRA twinshock B championship (no small challange , as I had a shattered clavicle last year !) So does that mean I should put a #1 on it and confuse everyone or just look more vain than I am ? I actually have 3 different # plates , for the different series I attempt to compete in . I really just like to get out and ride , I don't give a #@%! about #'s and points . I do it for relaxation and stress releif from the everyday world we live in .
And also for something else my kids and I can do together ... (so they don't get mad at me, for the funds channeled into our bikes ...)

Now Clive , Take it out and throw it at some rocks ! Every time you ride it and then get back on your modern bike , you'll feel like superman !
Able to leap tall buildings in a single splat !
But really , quite a nice job , looks to be well worth the effort , Just remember it'll never be that clean again ... And the swingarm is supposed to leak oil ...
Glenn
-
Thanks , If I'd bought the rims , would've gone gold or maybe red , But I got the bare rims , still unwrapped for a barter / labor deal , But the stainless spokes are well worth the effort , alot stouter than the stock ones .
Glenn
-
And Cope if this isn't ITSA material , I'm Totally dazed and confused ...
Glenn
-
Copey ; ! you misunderstood me ! "You see Glenn, that is my point, even ITSA has limited itself if even your Fantic does not qualify."
Trust me , my Fantic qualifies for ITSA , it's the Ahrma that won't let my bike in ...
Glenn

Copey , Why all the bother about disc brakes ? In properly laid out twinshock sections , correctly set up drums are fine ! Were not all about the speed required in some modern event sections . And I know of a few drumbraked bikes that can do stoppies etc. with the right methods used .
Although I'm not good at it , my fantic will with a little effort . And you should see Bob Ginder's son ride their honda ! He can do things so effortlessly that you just shouldn't be able to do on a twinshock !
At every ITSA event I get to ride , I always try to make some time so I can just watch Bob and Hockeyboy and our few other experts ride just to watch the technique . I always learn something ...
Glenn
And the bike above is just SWEET !!!

In My Limited exp. with The ITSA , I don't beleive ANY Trials Bike would EVER be turned away from a event ... You can always pick a rider level class and just ride exhibition ! I think the only thing you do not receive that way is a trophy ? We all just want to have FUN !!! All the modern folks have to remember are our simple basic real trials rules . (no-stop ) And besides , my bike isn't even Ahrma eligible , so I ride ITSA ,STRA , MTR and anything else I can find ! The stra and mtr events are modern events with twinshock classes , And of course ITSA events main focus is the great bikes from the 70's and early 80's .
Glenn Twinshocks RULE !!!

I've found nothing works better than Silkolene Light gear oil , Improved the action greatly on mine ...
Glenn

KUDO's Craig a perfect politically correct response !!! (and the young man can RIDE!!!!)
Glenn
-
From the looks of the sections , you seem to have a little trials paradise up there ! But IMHO you and Bob need to get together and ride someday , as I beleive your both a hell of alot better than I ever thought of being !
And in Img 0820 are you just taking a rest ? leaning on the tree and all !!!
Great shots ,Does the can-am work as good as they look ?
Glenn

Well here they are ! Trued and waiting for me to put tires on and ride her abit and then true them again , 9 gauge stainless spokes and nipples and a spoke wrench for the supplied spokes , Priceless ! A REAL spoke wrench makes all the differance when truing/building wheels . Trust me , as a mechanic for a living I spend about 2k a year on simple hand tools , and just the heft of this $25.00 dollar spoke wrench told me it was well worth it ! And if you need spokes Buchanons in Cali Flat Out ROCKS !!!!!
Glenn
And Lee , I'll send you the spoke dimensions as soon as I sort thru my notes !!!
-
Now for That I would try and make the trip ... !
