It is unlikely that a flywheel weight would stop the bike running propoerly. What is it doing?
-
If none of the wiring or cables are fouling then it's almost certainly the head stock bearings.
If they've got that bad they are scrap, so don't even think of regreasing them, just fit a new set. Remember when you fit the new ones to grease them before assembly and don't overtighten them.

Patiently tried re-doing the tape this evening. We removed the tyre and tried to even out the tension. After a great deal of prising and pushing, we got the tape to look the same all the way around.
Put the tyre back on and inflated.
Sure enough this improved the problem, it then only leaks from a few spokes!
So we gave up and fitted a tube for now.
I can't believe how tricky this job is.

If it's not Shaun, it's someone very good!
-
Do you put that in through the valve?

The Stratford-Upon-Avon club web site has a page with lots of links to other trials web sites.
Should keep you going for a while.

I wish Doug all the luck in the world and would love him to pull off the near impossible but I think the best he can hope for is some more round wins.
I think Raga will be dominant in 2007 both outdoor and in. Podiums at every round with more wins than not.
My goodness... it hurts to write that!

How about something like a tidy TY250 mono? Get a really tidy one for maybe

2001 model out late 2000 (there was one at the dirt bike show in November 2000) if my memory serves me correct.
Silver tank with blue stripe.

I must say that I am reluctant to take the tape off again unless I have to, it was a real pain to get on. There is either a technique which I haven't mastered or I am just less patient than most of you.
So with this in mind, I'm going to have a look at re-adjusting the tape so that it is on with an even tightness then if this doesn't work it's going to be the sealer.... on top of the tape, not under.
I'll let you know how it goes.
Thanks for all the suggestions.

When you use the Sika Marky do you put the rim tape in first and then seal it in with the Sika or do you actually seal the spoke ends with the Sika, apparantly when windscreen fitters use it they use a primer on the metal parts.
Good question. The new tape was a pig to fit, it would be a nightmare to fit if it was going into wet sealer.
-
It was a new tape we were fitting, never imagined it was going to be so fiddly!
-
Sorry. I know this one has been covered before but I can't find the postings on what sealer to use on the rim tape to stop it leaking through the spoke holes.
Can anyone tell me what is the best sealer to use? Is there a trick to getting the tape in place? We spent two hours on it this afternoon and the damn wheel leaks like a sieve!
Thanks

I drew up a simple to use RA form which I sent to the ACU but am awaiting approval before using it.
The official reply from the Chairman of the ACU, Mr Parker, was that my concerns were noted and the subject was being looked into. ALmost a year on and we seem to be in exactly the same position.
Your suggestions for re-fueling are good but RA on this subject should be done by the professionals and sent to us as the unpaid volunteers, not in my opinion the other way around.

I'm really happy with my '05 model.
It's not the lightest trials bike, it certainly isn't the most powerful but it definately flatters my limited ability. The power delivery suits the type of going we have in the Midlands and compared to some trials bikes I have owned from new; it has been 100% reliable with very low maintenance.
If you do a lot of trick riding or intend to use it for the BIG stuff, it may not be the best bike but if you want it for local club trials then it is a good choice.
I hope this helps.

Yes, in fairness they also replaced the one on my new '04 when it went. Free of charge, TWICE!
-
Yes, they do need to be done. They do need to be right. And as you say, it does give everyone but the Clerk of the Course (who signs the form) a get out if things go wrong.
Yet... we still have had no formal training on Risk Assessment.
I'm concerned...... infact I'm more than concerned!
I've contacted the ACU requesting guidance and it is in hand. Perhaps if every club asked for help it might be more forthcoming.
In the mean time, thank goodness we have the best Insurers who will back us up if we make the wrong assessment of a risk which causes injury.

I've never had trouble getting my bikes throught the MOT with trials tyres on. I always put a full size number plate on with a reflector stuck on the bottom edge. A childs push bike horn does the trick from Halfords.

IRC.... because we never see a rock around here. :agree:

I'll email you the number.

Tone, Give Nick a call and ask him if it's ok to use the bank where the sections were in the club trial, I'm sure he won't mind providing you don't stray over the top into the neighbours wood.
We were up there on Wednesday and it was suprisingly dry.

Top Farm at Broadway Worcs. Is that too far?
-
Perhaps this one was a bit too heavy for Christmas. Sorry, I should have saved it a bit longer.
-
Ohh no... don't you just hate those Rev3 stators! I thought they'd solved the problem on the '06 model?
