  1. Great idea but does anyone make one which is flatter? It would just be my luck to fall off with a round one in my back pack and break my ribs.
  2. The Stratford-Upon-Avon Club are holding the final round of the Midland Centre Championship at The Warren near Shennington on Sunday 10th December. Alan Wright will be Clerk of the Course and plans three laps 15 sections at the traditional Cotswold venue. Best rider last year was Alexz Wigg with Ross Danby runner up. Riders competing in the championship will ride the A route if they are Experts, Intermediates or Youth A. The B route for Over 40's, Clubmen and Youth B. There will also be a non championship C route suitable for any rider who wishes to have a less demanding ride. The Warren is infamous for it's disused WW2 concrete filter beds where a number of sections are usually situated. Look out for the 6ft concrete step at the exit for the A route here. Another popular feature of this event in recent years, is the inclusion of a graded hill climb where riders are penalised for where there front wheel stops moving and not where they dab. The last couple of years has seen fair weather for the Varden and most people managed to get to the top of the hill climb, but many will remember 2000 and 2002 when only the most commited reached the sumit even once! For regulations click HERE Entries close Monday 4th December. Riders may enter on the day on a no award basis providing the 100 rider limit has not been reached.
  3. I rode the UK and the Jap spec bikes back to back and really coldn't get on with the more powerful version. Perhaps if I rode in dry rocky trials with big steps the more powerful version wold be better, but for the sort of wet muddy off cambered sections which I encounter, the tame version is brilliant. In fact, you will laugh at me here, I have even fitted the slow action throttle.... and that helps even more! But lets just clarify something.... I'm rubbish. Click to see me being rubbish :-) So it's just whatever suits you best.
  4. Find the web site you are going to refer to, copy the link. Then come back to TC, write your reply and click on the icon above which has the world in the background. A box will open up and you can paste in the link you are refering to, then either name it or type in 'click here' and submit your post. Anyone who wants to look at the web site to which you are refering then just clicks on the link and Bingo!
  5. I can't find the legal requirment for the angle of a rear number plate, but the size and spacing of the numbers is very specific. It is clear that to meet the letter (pun intended) of the law, there is no way you can mount your trials bike plate directly on the mudguard. Unless you have a personal plate with just one letter on it! Click here for legal specs of no plates.
  6. I am confident we will get the severity right for the 2007 event. With luck and good planning scores should be lower whilst retaining the competitive nature of the Colmore. Katy rode well in 2006 to finish on 100. I would hope that (if we are lucky enough for her to ride with us again in '07) she will be around half that figure. One thing for sure, a local rider of the standard of Barry Husband must finish on less than 80 if the event is a Novogar round!
  7. Yes, Vesty lost 22 and Katy lost a respectable 101 in the 2006 event. Not bad when you see even Barry Husband dropped 80!
  8. Unfortunately I'm not a good enough rider to make the best of a 4RT. Until I improve I will just have to put up with my easy to ride, skill flattering, soft, heavy old Scorpa.
  9. And one final one from the 2006 Colmore. Not sure who this is taken at the last section of the day.
  10. Here's a different angle of the same section from the 2006 Colmore. I'm not sure who this rider is.
  11. Last years Colmore winner in the third section at Top Farm All you need to do is concentrate.
  12. Just an observaton but you don't get many rich road racers. By far the majority spend every penny they can get just keeping their bikes on the track, then in the off season spend their weekends either doing overtime to pay off their overdraft, or working on the bike getting it ready for next year.
  13. I would certainly argue the fact that <mention of this company is not permitted on Trials Central> are "one of the only dealers who is genuinely interested in trials"....... surely this is not right? I've only ever dealt with BVM and Steve Goode but they both come accross as real trials enthusiasts. And I know they both put a lot back into the sport. Rules are rules, a warning was given. And made public with names withheld. The next step had to be naming. The persons/dealer concerned can only blame themselves for what has happened. Correct procedure as far as I can see.
  14. Pretty good mixture around here, including plenty of 4rt's. In fact Mark Hicken has swapped his '06 Raga replica for a standard 4rt! And he's no slouch. A couple of years back you hardly ever saw a Scorpa but now there are quite a few of them. Perhaps it's beacuse the Scorpas were always more expensive in the past. Note, we never see a rock so it's always muddy streams and tree roots which seem to suit the Yamaha engine. 07 Scorpas? Clive C (picture) has a '07 Scorpa but another rider I know well is still waiting for his, it's been on order for about a month now.

  16. John, Thank you once again for taking the time to explain the situation. I do realise that you had already written a comprehensive reply on this subject. I suspect the large number of posts is putting people off reading every page, therefore you are being asked the same thing more than once. As the opening poster in this thread I am quite happy that my original question has been answered in full. My interest stems from the Colmore cup in March, I will take the points made in this thread back to the organising members of the club and I will do my best to ensure that we run a really good event in 2007. Thanks to everyone who has contributed to this thread, I for one have found it most informative. To sum up. We (the organising clubs) MUST endevour to set out the Novogar rounds suitable for the riders for which the series is intended. And that is good club riders and not established National stars. I am confident that we can and will do this and anyone riding in the Colmore will enjoy a great event. Pete Barnett
  17. 160+ I wish! We are as pleased as anything when one of our Nationals crack the 100 mark, I really don't think adding a B route would attract another 60 or more riders. In any case the Colmore is run in March and there would not be enough daylight to have an entry over 160. We would have a maximum upper limit of 120. As for the land damage. Yes I agree we need to be concious of wear and traffic jams, however just remember each rider only goes through the section once. Therefore in the Colmore a 120 rider entry would only cause the same damage to the ground as a 30 rider club trial doing four laps. And I don't think any of us consider that to be excessive. Finally and as I have stated earlier in this thread, we aren't here to make money, we just need to make sure we don't run at a loss and last years non-championship single route Colmore, came close to loosing the club money. To turn your question around, what good is the land if there is no club willing to run the trial? We must strive for a happy medium. Considering the land owners and other country users, whilst continuing to make the event a pleasure to organise, observe at and ride in. Plus it has to be economicaly viable.
  18. I wouldn't knock any world champion in any sport, I don't really enjoy MX but again I wouldn't knock it in any way, I just feel it was a poor job in the ACU magazine to miss ( I won't say ignore) this.
  19. Another attempt to legislate against the law abiding which will have almost no effect on those actually cuasing the problem in the first place.
  20. Are you saying that the Editor or the ACU magazine is unable to produce any kind of copy from their own initiative?
