I don't care anymore. I just wish we had fewer sets of rules.
-
Superb write up Malrca, that must have taken you hours to do.
-
Sorry, I know it's too late but here's one I made earlier.
-
Sorry I don't know, I've not read that discussion. Which topic is it under?
I guess that the Cotswold name means that it is (or was) something to do with Jon Bliss.

Having a compressor is a big help when refittting the rear.
One of the main problems people have is breaking the rear bead.
Apparently you can use a plank of wood, a spade, a vice etc etc. I use a little bottle jack between two house walls.
If you are planning to change the rear tyre quite often, it is worth buying a bead breaker. If you're not going to do it very often, you might as well take it to a tyre depot and give them a few quid.

Thanks for the write up Charlie, makes me feel as if I've been riding in a clasic novel for a day, rather than in a classic trial
We were very lucky with the weather. Last night I was still in Western Wood easing the sections in the rain when it got dark; as it happened I could have left the sections unmodified as they dried out really well..... but then a wet day would have spelt disaster. Better too easy than way too hard.
The trial was fairly moderate until we got to Dovedale which has been set out by Wrighty. The log you mention caught me for my first and only five of the day on my DRZ trail bike. But it was the big drop at section 25 that rendered me wide eyed and speechless.
Dave Heming, the other course opener and Neil Ludlow who was 'in-charge' onthe day helped me move numerous logs and brambles to find a different easy route exit much further down the near verticle hill. Indeed, I struggled to stop on my modern disc braked bike even then. Hats off to everyone with drum brakes who made it down, especially the side cars!
The two sections in Warners caused few problems, however the sting in the tail was section 30 back at Blackwell, where I lost another two marks getting out of the stream and up the muddy bank.
A big thanks to the multiple land owners who allow us to ride on their property for this trial, I hope that everyone enjoyed the day, I will post the results as soon as I get them.

Clerk of the Course.

You're most welcome to come and observe is you fancy a day out!
It'll be interesting to see how well Steve Saunders goes on a Beta Alp trail bike up against the top Classic riders on the hard route.
-
Well done to Donna and all the girls who took part in the event.
It's impressive to see that the top four ladies were only seperated by 25 marks after six days of copetition.
-
Or if you really fancy a challenge, why not go for something a bit more powerful!
-
Came across this video which is well worth a look.
It's impressive what these guys are doing on enduro bikes.... just turn the sound off as the music is really annoying!
-
In the ACU Risk Assessment that I have to fill out for the event, we manage the issue of re-fuelling by telling riders that all refuelling must be done at the petrol stations on route. At roughly 35 miles.
Here you will find the appropriate fire fighting equipment etc.
However....
The lunch stop will be at Saintbury Quarry which is roughly half way around, about 20 miles.

There's been a big rush of entries in today, I will give more details when I have them but there are 112 entered so far!
The programme will be finalised on Monday after the last stragglers come in the post, it looks like being a full house this year!
-
Providing he had a spare stator to put in half way up!
-
We use Top Farm for some of the sections in the Colmore Cup click HERE to see recent pics.
I will PM you with more details.
-
Welcome to TC and to Trials in general.
-
There is a practice area at Top Farm, Buckland near Broadway. (Off the A44)
Or first club trial of the year will be held there at the end of June, there will be three routes to cater for all levels of riders and machines.
-
Do you think he managed to ride down as well?
-
-
Perhaps we should ask the organisers to make a new rule.... If a section doesn't have at least one genuine clean in an event, that section will be deemed as too hard and be scrapped from the results!
-
Do you mean 'cannot be done'? Or do you mean 'cannot be done without a dab?
We often see riders bouncing in a tight turn when a simple dab would get around the turn without stopping or bouncing.

Malarca, thanks for your entry.
The starting order will be by class first then by order of receipt.
Sidecars, rigids, pre-65, twinshocks, trail.
There is fuel available towards the end of the route at Troopers Lodge on the A44 before going into Dovedale although it might be stretching it to get that far on a regular trials bike tank.
Due to H&S regulations and Risk Assessments, we can no longer make (official ;-) ) arrangements to take fuel to the lunch stop which will be at Saintbury Quarry.
I will post the final entry list after the closing date.
-
The regs are available for the Stratford-Upon-Avon Sam Cooper Union Jack Classic Trial on the 18th of May HERE
This is a round of the Sammy Miller Championship and will have two routes available to cater for all classes including sidecars, twin shock trials bikes and trail bikes.

Sorry if you've seen this one before, but it amused me for a while. See if you can get to the end of section two (level two) in under 100 crashes! Click Here
