Next time try chucking on flywheel puller and center in tailstock maybe.
At least you wont wear it.
Have a nice day

Normally speaking the green wire is ground and must be disconnected; (when timing).
black wire is hot to coil, the points don't usually have any loose washers.
If you cant get things to work with breaker plate mounted; it is grounded somewhere
it shouldn't be.
Disconnect the kill button to eliminate any silliness with it.
As far as the bike not starting & has good external spark;
1. new sparkplug (best, ngkBPR5EIX-11) or colder for alpina application.
2.Automotive condenser under tank, mounted on coil bracket (clean for ground).
3.H.T. coil(under tank)
I have tried to cover your problem in the least labor intensive manner.
You can certainly try the Sherpa coil.
Good Luck & be sure to keep us informed as there is a lot of knowledge here.

Trev, A little trick taught to me not too long ago that really helped,
Using proper fork seals!!! Before installing, take the seal spring out & un screw it and cut 1/4 inch from FEMALE end & screw it
back together & re install spring. Now you are ready to re seal.
Have a nice day (edit female)

The biggest offender to timing (point wear) I have found is a rough cam (corrosion), a smooth cam and
a little dielelectric grease, long timing life.

Lorenzo, No I was referring to the older zinc body Mikuni side/bottom main jet
(my preference) carb,24mm dia. which have found as a good Amal replacement.
Larry
-
If it is not broken then why fix it.
40 plus years on points.
PS automotive condenser mounted on coil bracket.
Cheap insurance.

Larry, Found it, will PM details.
Larry

Thanks for the reply, as I am old and understand time constraints.
Wish you good luck, please don't rule out electrics, as they can
cause mysterious happenings.
Larry

I see that its already been established M 221,
so no need to worry that it might be the dreaded
125cc.
Larry

Larry, Don't you just love it when folks tell you they will
respond to your questions, then all is quiet.
Trying to source 3 rd gear 27 teeth over here, maybe something other
than mod 10 will work, might have to have one made?
I will let you know one way or the other.

Andy, You have been busy and unavailable lately, hope no illness has found you.
Do let us know how you get on.
Larry

Well???
Please don't leave us in the dark.
We are never to old and set in our ways to learn.
Larry

Been following this with interest, really looks good!
I see you got the bash plate on, we have all been there.
Nice work

Hello & welcome
We don't see hardly any B models here,so I just looked at my 199.
JM 199xxxxx ,someone with firsthand knowledge will help.
I would think 6 speed would tell the tale.
Larry
-
Just some thoughts since 1973 with Bultacos .( Mod 92 came with 25 Amal)
As John so aptly puts it; nonsense & fishing weights good plan!!!
Mikuni & copies way to go!
Side main originals will work without a main jet for most sections, certainly not steep long climbs
where we would be needing a proper main.
Before doubting please experiment.

Air screw and or pilot jet whatever, Amals can be strange animals.
Have a nice day.
-
Sounds like a little lean on the air screw, that said Buls pull better when just a tad
fat on the bottom, Amals do tend to be very touchy about atmospheric changes.IMHO
Suggest soldering a bit of metal on the air screw for easy tuning. (in rich)
Try the air screw & leave the needle alone because next will be mid range unrest.

Scott, you never asked that I remember, but THANKS WOODY !
Great help for all.
As we know Andy has a bit of an odd setup (duplex chain) the pressure plate cannot bottom out on the hub,
and will only line up one way on hub & studs, the number of plates should stack up the same as the steel,
(if it worked before)?
Larry

Sounds like breather hoses, the mag can definitely use one as the trans can benefit also.
Surely there is someone out there with a 315r to help?
Good luck
Larry

Andy, Don't give up, save your lock wire until you
get satisfaction. Will PM you shortly.
Larry

Vic,The most important is to have the filter material large enough to
make a good seal when all parts are in & tightened up.
Graham is giving you good help.
From pictures of works riders & others using 199s this was the air box
of choice (fiberglass rather than plastic). Be sure to check your air hose
as they are prone to splitting.
The best fix is as naichuff uses if you can get a fit for your air box.
This is probably the best air box going IMHO.

Glad you have it up & running now, too bad how you cant trust people now,
wish you all the best, let it smoke a bit & pay no attention to those who advocate
light on oil.
Larry
-
Betarich, That is the worst I have ever heard. Quite obviously a victim of the silly trend in thinking
that a 2 stroke runs so much better without oil.
Have a nice day.
Larry

And to think we were worried about tightening little allen heads in B model yokes,
heavy hands can tear up bowling balls.
