Andy, When you cleaned the air filter did you by chance over oil it?
Good luck
Larry
.
-
Henry, You have all but eliminated every thing.
It has fire outside but maybe not any when under compression.
I am not familiar with electronic ignition & the timing of same.
A 2 stroke only needs fuel, comp, fire at the proper time.
Tell us if it getting the plug wet, if so, new plug and throttle wide
open, if nothing, then we will look further. PS don't break kicker spring.

Oil on the crank wheels is natural, excess of oil not good.
You didn't say what mixture, 50/1 is good.
Try another carb before going deeper (center gasket).
Good Luck
Larry
-
John,
Do it how you like, just be sure to ride and enjoy.
Have a nice day
Larry

Scott, Woody is spot on about the main shaft all the way. (Great knowledge).
The Alp I recently built (mod 85) had a very worn main shaft ( on the left side )
and was a spline for the clutch, I imagine you can use your main & the mod 49
gears & lay shaft.
Check with Lynn.

John, The sad part about the plastic tanks we get here is they breathe just like the
original mod 199 tanks.
You cant paint or keep decals on them....
Try to repair the glass and line it like your fine 247.
A plastic tank will require seat work also.
Have a good day
Larry
-
Scott, Be sure its not already a 250 as 175s didn't sell and were swapped to
250 top end, ( this comes from a source other than me).
Just passing along news.
Larry
-
Bondy, was only referring to the threaded yokes.
Your bikes always look great.
Regards
Larry
-
John. Tidy purchase, alloy or glass?
Shifter on proper side, good brakes this way.
Now you can do the tank bolt mod,(Bultaco thread).
Regards
Larry
-
To any concerned, The most helpful clutch fix I have found involves careful
use of a thread file (4 sided).
Have a nice day
Larry
-
Bondy, Great looking bike! We don't see any B models around here, so had no idea
about the threaded triple clamps ; looks nice but is an accident waiting to happen IMHO.
Have a nice day,
Larry
-
John, Glad to hear of your new ride. You will surely enjoy (no tapers) only mag.
Have a nice day all.
Larry
-
Laird, Agree with get it running to check things out before digging to deep.
If you can get a good spark and a clean carb it should start.
Check your PM .

1973tr6, Don't know where you are located, but before you go to far, maybe clean the points then check for fire, red dead, white/blue
good.
The Bing is ok when clean.
Here we use automotive condensers mounted on the coil bracket.
Clean tank & fresh fuel, give it a go before dirty work on seals.
Larry
-
Scott, Had a Mod 125 (1974 to us) with this strange looking frame gusset!
I had never seen any others like this.
I would imagine others have.
You cant tuck a Sherpa T much what with fender/head pipe/down tube clearance.
For the record, I did not feel nor measure any difference.
Regards Larry
-
The most important question as Stuart asked, where are you located?
Larry
-
Scot, The o ring I use comes from my kit, it just needs to seal in the bowl & fit the fitting.
Good Luck
Larry
-
There is a simple although a little time is involved fix. I have had good luck on Scorpa, Beta, Sherco ect.
Remove clutch plates, cleanup so they are not so slick.
Using a thread file ( tool supply, Ebay) & I prefer 10 pitch using 3 strokes per friction pad (don't go through matl)
You are making radial grooves to expel the oil to break the surface tension.
This works, however any clutch should be broken loose after setting as per above, above all one should make
sure there is a clear way ahead at all times! Working the clutch lever several times @ warm up is recommended.
Larry
Just checked Ebay they are the 4 sided (multiple pitches) kind.

Thanks guys for the memories!
Its been a long and sometimes rocky road, my wife & children were all involved then.
Going to a usually large trial this weekend, small to great large stones all natural venue.
M199 &M 49 clean to go to observe only. (modern bike trial) Darn it.

I would think the floats should be level, easy enough to try, would also clean the filter, wash out with premix only,
the old bikes do not seem to like the new filter oils, definitely replace the little o ring.

Woody, In our area we had a very good Bultaco dealer who was kind enough to sponsor some of us locally,
parts ect. I have my jersey & my son now wears it to represent the brand at local events, same age as you.
The series 2 M92 I don't remember here, the first wishbone we saw was the M125.
Still own my original M92/Miller frame.
Larry
-
Dave, Hope to be of help, the PM will explain my problem.
Best of Luck
Larry
-
Woody, sorry about the age thing.
I see on your mod 92 that it looks like chrome plated A model fender/fork braces, good plan as these wont
hit the down tube as the earlier ones would.
Fine looking bikes.
Larry
-
Woody, Do you recall the original (at least here) piece of pressed alloy front fork brace/fender mount on mod 92?
All so had a 1 year old mod 80 with a broken Sammy two piece brace (the short version).
Just a bit of trivia from old folks.
Beautiful bikeTwinshock, & thanks guys for the good memories.
Best regards Larry
-
b40rt, Thanks for the post & link, quite nice lads, as Mick used to put it.
